There is one parameter of a drone that doesn't have a name but IMHO is very important. It's how fast can it regain balance after being disturbed (hitting branches, trees etc). It can sometimes decide between life and death of your drone and I noticed that DJI drones are a lot better with this than others. I've hit twigs and branches with my MA2 multiple times and yet it always managed to regain balance before hitting the ground. In case of other drones if you hit something it usually means they will drop and hit the ground.

I don't see here a real Active Track/APAS 4.0! This Iteration is more a 3.1 - and this is exactly what DJI should have called it :-/ ...I was hopping for a bit more only because of the name and the Extra sensors. It looks like DJI still doesn't do any direction prediction of the tracking subject like a skydio (even Version 1 from 2018) so its more than only the missing side sensors --->Skydio is still miles a head.
Not in the least bit excited for the 2S but way more excited to consider a DJI Pocket 3 with a 1 inch sensor since DJI tends to pair them together and leap frog them. In the order of Mavic Air/OSMO Pocket, Air 2/Pocket2. So lets hope for 2S/Pocket 3 to continue the tradition of sharing the same sensor. And with that Moaz screen competition, lets see if DJI will use that accessory port to include a flippy screen and a 1 inch sensor!!!!

My 2s has trouble following me in trees with leaves because it loses contact when it can’t see me. When there are no leaves the small twigs are a hazard.
Really doesn't offer much improvement at all over the ( air 2 ) even the added 03 2.0 OCCUSYNC supposedly goes 7 miles over the 6 MI. With only 31 minutes of battery life the air 2 could not reach the 6 mi anyways. So it really doesn't matter. And people kept saying there wasn't much of a difference between the AIR 2 and the mavic 2 with the 1-in sensor.. especially when it comes to social media the Air 2 held its own and didn't really miss the one in sensor.. It's really not worth the upgrade in my opinion if you have the air 2 NOT AT ALL. Especially for the money.. And if I didn't already have the air 2 would not waste the extra money.. Unless the thing PERFORMS LIKE THE SKYDEO AND THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO USE IT FOR THERE'S NO POINT.. And the mavic Air 2 has a lot more benefits that beats the skydeo other than obstacle avoidance.. But I'm definitely not spending $400 more dollars for minor upgrades if I was just starting out.. And definitely not upgrading if I have the AIR 2!!
Why do you say the “upwards sensors aren’t being used at the moment” because the drone isn’t “facing forward”? It has forward sensors to sense towards, and upwards sensors to sense upwards. What makes you think otherwise, maybe I’m missing something? In any case, it seems to me the upwards sensors are very much being used, as they’re the ones making sure the drone isn’t crashing with the branches on above it… Thanks for the video. I ordered it the day it was announced, and was sold when I saw the promo video of it flying sideways in high speed filming people on a boat. Turns out that was just advertising foolery. How disappointed I am that it has no side sensors… the new tracking system sure is better, but it’s still not very trustworthy. Mine came awfully close many times to trees, as it approaches it sideways… I’ll be returning mine, unfortunately. The tech is getting close but still not there yet. And DJI has a lot of catching up to do with skydio 2 in terms of obstacle avoidance and tracking. I’ve been waiting for a DJI drone with a tracking/anti collision system at least closer to that. And 360 degree anti collision sensors are also a must for me. The stress of flying something that expensive without effective, reliable anti-collision is something I’m eager to retire with my old drones… after seeing skydio 2 perform, I know that’s the ballpark of what I want in my next drone…
Because when the drone is in forward flight, the upwards sensors are pointing forward, the forward sensors are virtually pointing downward, so for very slow forward flight the upwards sensors aren't really doing a lot. Glad that you're happy, its a very capable drone indeed!
The air 2s probably has the worst active track ever the first day. I got mine and used the active track function and went for a walk to test it out. I was not impressed. The drone would sometimes randomly violently fly left or right for an object on top or in front it overreacts and manoeuvres extremely fast, and, it’s actually flew itself into a tree because it saw the mailbox on the right of the sidewalk so the drone violently veers left and smashes right into it and it tends to like to do this a lot and sometimes the drone will start flying at you at full speed and then slam on the brakes almost like it is trying to decapitate you. I’ve never had a DJ I Drone with this bad of active track even the first Mavic pro the phantom and Mavic air preform better
Active track 2.0 with some sensors(Air 1)= can follow you in open areas and avoid big objects Active track 3.0(Mavic air 2) =Can avoid stuff like tree Active track 4.0(2s)= can avoid branches Active track 5.0 with side sensors=Skydia 2 tier level drone
@@Droning-ON in my opinion, the shots taken with active track are 90% unusable. only on rare occasions and in the open field do they give a satisfactory effect. otherwise they are jerky. obviously your video is just a test, but active track for most of follow shots are bad for me. it's a great feature to try as soon as you take the drone out of the box 🤣

It is not the Skydio, but getting there. I consider it is breaking too close to people to be comfortable.
That's rather true!
The next gen will have the sideways tracking.... But it's already impressive enough.... Imagine when they have everything we know we want..!!
Super Amazing active track..!!
Thanks Goggen!
Drone camera settings?
I was wondering at 11:00 if its going to choose another subject to chase :D:D
Haha, it felt like the drone was crossing the road :) it did well!
If it had side sensors I would probably upgrade from the Air 2
Yeah it's such a shame that it doesn't have them!
I’ve only been flying drones over a year so im not ready for the “Air 2s” but the air 2 im completely satisfied. Probably be ready by the time Mavic 3 comes out. I have enough with the “Mini 2, Air 2 & fpv” thats alot of drone for a newbie!
Ninja twig avoidance ...... can`t wait for mine to arrive in 2 days time.
nice one
The OP3 could indeed be great but only if DJI actually create a new model rather than a minor iteration as they did last time!
Iv just done a video on you tube where my air 2 s crashed into twigs ! The first time Iv really used active track and first time I crashed it and was in more open space than you was ! Very disappointed
FocusTrack is not available while recording in 5.4K/30fps, 5.4K/25fps, 5.4K/24fps, 4K/60fps, 4K/50fps, 4K/48fps, 2.7K/60fps, 2.7K/50fps, 2.7K/48fps, 1080p/120fps, 1080p/60fps, 1080p/50fps, and 1080p/48fps. APAS 4.0 is not available while recording in 5.4K/30fps, 5.4K/25fps, 5.4K/24fps, 4K/60fps, 4K/50fps, 4K/48fps, 2.7K/60fps, 2.7K/50fps, 2.7K/48fps, 1080p/120fps.
Yes indeed, these limitations are frustrating, possibly due to CPU and computing power needed to do it all at once.
My 2s has trouble following me in trees with leaves because it loses contact when it can’t see me. When there are no leaves the small twigs are a hazard.
Wild
jesus...i had kittens watching that
4:25 impressive
It was wasn't it!
In any case, it seems to me the upwards sensors are very much being used, as they’re the ones making sure the drone isn’t crashing with the branches on above it…
Thanks for the video. I ordered it the day it was announced, and was sold when I saw the promo video of it flying sideways in high speed filming people on a boat. Turns out that was just advertising foolery. How disappointed I am that it has no side sensors… the new tracking system sure is better, but it’s still not very trustworthy. Mine came awfully close many times to trees, as it approaches it sideways…
I’ll be returning mine, unfortunately.
Glad that you're happy, its a very capable drone indeed!
in your opinion.. which drone has the best on tracking and obstacle avoidance feature. skydio 2 or the dji air 2s??
I would love to hear his response as well 😳
I dont see major upgrades from version 3
The behaviour and accuracy of it is far better, trust me.
카메라 대신에 오즈모포켓으로 액티브트랙을 해서 뛰세요^^
In other words, it is no Skydio 2 to
Yes the Skydio tracks better but this produces far nicer video!
Active track 2.0 with some sensors(Air 1)= can follow you in open areas and avoid big objects
Active track 3.0(Mavic air 2) =Can avoid stuff like tree
Active track 4.0(2s)= can avoid branches
Active track 5.0 with side sensors=Skydia 2 tier level drone
Agreed, it was a big miss to add sensors to the top of this new drone instead of the side!
Does DJI make these updates backwards compatible? More specifically, will activetrack 4.0 also be available for the Air2?
Can’t believe the air 2 is obsolete already, lol
Well it's not really, it's still a current drone, it's a shame that DJI don't allow is to upgrade our drones rather than replace them
Another youtuber said skydio 2 active track more excellent from ma2s..😂
Yeah better at avoidance but he didn't say it was better at the video itself.
Without certification , forget it DJI , The best Follow Me Drone ist still the Skydio !
Tracking and avoidance yes, cinematic video quality no!
ok... don't crash but this kind of shots are unusable for video editing... it's ok pnly for test samples
I disagree, I wasn't intending on producing cinematic content for this video, it was purely a test for tracking.
Depends entirely on your use case, if you're tracking a car, motorbike or person at distance in a context which suits this mode then it works well.
Next time leave the other camera in the car and just run
