    Good day everyone.
Hope this information will be helpful for everyone, so here it is.
First. NEVER leave the intake exposed. Always use something to close it, a glove, for example. Trust me, you will eat your heart, if you need to get out some debris from the intake manifold. This is very dangerous habits.
Two. You are correct - you can use those gaskets as long as possible. They made from two pieces of aluminum, so you can separate them (if you like) in order to reuse them. How can you know that you should change them? Simple, when you get some errors related to the vacuum leaks or the fuel trim.
By the way (#1), those two types of errors are usually related one to another.
Three. Don't know about Golf, but in my Ibiza, I never did the alignment of the throttle body. After each cleanup, I'm turn the ignition on for half a minute and after that start the engine. In general, this will be a rough start, but "put your pedal to the metal" and everything will go just fine.
By the way (#2), if you turn your ignition on, you can see that throttle body will open and then close - this is a self-alignment process. It happens every time you start the car. Therefore, NEVER start your car immediately, even if it warm. Always give a care a time to finish the self-diagnosis process and then start the engine. How can you know that this process has finished? I say, ALWAYS wait until the ABS and AIRBAG light goes off.
By the way (#3), if you have an old and weak battery, your ECU may think that you have errors related to those components, if you try to start the engine too early. This is happens because all the power goes to start the engine, and not to finish self-diagnosis process. Careful with this! You will tear your hair off, if you don't have the OBDII scanner that can reset those types of errors.
By the way (#4), almost forgot, before the error is registered by the ECU, should pass predetermined number of cycles, in general - two. So, if you have almost dead battery, don't crank the engine more than two times. Get someone who can help you with that. Otherwise, buy a very good OBDII scanner that can reset all the types of errors in your car.
Four. I see some oil inside the intake manifold, probably you have an issues with your oil/gas separator. Check it. How can you determine that this is a case? Start your engine and open the oil cap. If your engine starts to go nuts, you definitely should change this component, especially if you see the oil leaks from it. However, this behavior of the engine can be caused by the bed valves, so keep this in mind.
By the way (#5) some strange error related to the vacuum leaks or the fuel trim (for example: P017...) can be related to this component. More of that, you can damage your LAMBDA, if you not change it on time, and this is one big pain in the ass to deal with pollution issues!
Five. I see the broken damper that should shutdown the access of hot air, fix it or shut it IMMEDIATELY. This is serious, because you will start to lose some power from the engine. The purpose of this component to allow the engine to warm more quickly. However, the broken damper has very bad impact on the performance of the engine, because it should get a cold air during the work.
By the way (#6), sometimes, you may hear that your valves make a knocking noise. Some mechanics may say that your engine is "kaputt", but don't be that sure. The problem may occur, if your engine gets the hot air from the exhaust body. This is very poor design from VW...
Six. You should also clean the MAP sensor (if you have it). Why? Because there is an oil inside the intake manifold. You shouldn't clean it very often, but always have an extra one, because I can't guarantee that cleaner will not damage it. Definitely, try not to touch it. There are different type of materials used to make those sensors, and they behave very differently.
By the way (#7), any instability in work of the engine, start your search from this sensor. Also, any build up inside intake manifold, can have impact on the performance of the car. And you can be sure, if there is an oil and hot gases, there is a build up. Sad, but this is a truth of mechanical life.
    Hope this was helpful.
By the way (#final), everything in the car is related, so you may find solution for your issues in very unexpected places. The best way, but not the cheapest one (however, not sure about that), if you maintain your car, is to change the component after component. You will not only find the problem (eventually), but also prolong the life of your darling! :-)
And yeah, I have the same lag with my Ibiza around 4000 RPM. Still looking for the solution! LOL... Everything is related!
    Cheers.

Although I have a petrol 1.6 16V AZD engine code Golf 4. But very similar. Fully electric throttle. I have an intermittent driving problem with the car, but I wouldn’t go into the details of that now. I have already cleaned the throttle body, intake manifold, adapted, etc., etc. It would help a lot with it if you could tell me what percentage of the throttle position was after cleaning. At warm idle. Although I still have 2.7% left for 1 year after cleaning, so it's no problem if a small deposit has formed on yours since then. This is what my car does at warm idle, 680 rpm, 28kpa intake manifold absolute pressure. Are yours similar?
I’ve learned quite a lot about my car, especially engine peripherals (EGR, Throttle body, MAP, oxygen sensors) and door locks. If you need info ... see if I can help you in the future.

What kind of airbox do you have?
I have a Golf 4 1.6 16V, but with a completely different air filter box.
Would like to buy the version you have.
And with what type of grease did you grease the plastic gears?

Hi i have mk4 1.6 16v AZD. In past 5,6 days when car is in idle revs goes to 800rpm but if i try to turn left or right revs goes to 900 and down to 700, after 3 or 4 sec they goes again on 800 and stay like that. Second thing is when i am on highway in 5th gear around 110km/h and about 3000rpm it loses gas after 3 sec it came back. And this happen only one time during driving it doesn't matter trip distance

Any fault codes? Check for Missfires in Measuring blocks (Missfiredetection), too.
Could be a faulty fuel pump. If so, it is cheap and easy to fix.

Hi, it's a bit late but if this happens in idle while turning left/right it sounds like a bad power steering pump. When turning the wheels the pump needs to much power so that the idle drops significantly. Maybe when the drops on the highway happened you were also steering to one side so it is the same error?

what is the best engine for golf 4 petrol 1.4 or 1.6 or 1.8 ? with no problemes engine ??

    • @Golf4org
      @Golf4org  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hard to tell. Don't buy 1.4, those are mostly not maintained well, 1.6 FSI are bad, too.
The 1.6 SR is okay, 1.8 and 2.0 are durable.
But a well maintained 1.6 is still better than a too cheap 2.0.
Same with 1.8T, 2.3 or 2.8. Good engines if they got frequent oilchanges and maintainance.

@@Martin-ml5np If you don't adapt it, it is gonna run just as bad as before. If you don't have VCDS or anything comparable, you can do the following:
disconnect the battery, turn on the light switch in the car, let it sit for a few minutes, turn the light switch off again, reconnect the battery, turn on the ignition, wait 5 minutes, turn on the engine but don't touch the gas pedal, let the engine idle for 5 minutes, drive about 30-100km. After that it's gonna be almost as good as adapting it with VCDS.
