    CAUTION: Firmware updates MUST be completed sequentially one after another, not skipping any versions out. This instruction is given directly by Hikvision technical support themselves and the reason is because skipping firmware versions can break core functionality. Upload each one in turn - even if there are 10 of them, don't miss any!

      This is a fair point to make, especially when updating from a much older version to a new version

    Great demo and info. I’m very new to all this so hope this question is too stupid!
    I’ve found the file I need and it’s on my laptop. Can I just save the file to a usb and plug that into my dvr and upgrade that way? Or will doing it by signing in online and upgrade my box?
    Thank you.

      Hi Hugo, you can do it via the web interface which is easiest, or you can transfer the file to a usb and plug it into your dvr. Either way is fine

    Hi I’ve just tried to update my Hikvision DVR model DS-7204HUHI-K1 ..V4.21.000 BUILD 190722 but when I turn it on it keeps rebooting and making a beep sound I think it was the wrong firmware I installed. Is there anyway I can reinstall the original firmware ? Or is there any other way I can fix it many thanks Chris

      It sounds like the dvr is bricked like you say due to incorrect firmware. Not an ideal situation. There is a TFTP tool you can use to flashback the firmware but it’s not the easiest to use!
      Have you tried turning your DVR off at the switch and leaving it completely off for a minute, and tried then turning it back on? Or is it still stuck in a constant boot cycle?

      Hi Robert!
      Which web browser are you using, internet explorer? If so, if you can try running IE in administrator mode and see if it makes a difference.

    Hi mate, me again, spoke to you over the weekend. I'm guessing this cannot be done via a apple iphone? Thanks

      @HikVisionGuru  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sammy! Yes you can update your devices via your phones web browser assuming you know the ip address of your camera or nvr/DVR. Just download the file from HikVision direct to your iPhone files. Hold on the file and press on uncompress, it’ll turn into a digicap file which you can then update on the HikVision web interface screen as per video.

    I have an NVR on 3.4.92. On the HIKVISION site it warns that an upgrade to 4.x could brick the NVR and to restore factory defaults first, then go up in steps - but if anything goers wrong the NVR may become inoperable. Looking around on the Internet it seems this is a 'thing' that has happened to people... so I am reluctant to attempt it.

      It is DS-7608NI-E2/8P/A - according to the HIKvision site this is obsolete, so are most of my cameras, although most of them are not that old!

    Hi guys, after upgrading I noticed that I can only view 4 channels via the WEB interface, although I could view 16 channels before the upgrade? Am I missing a setting somewhere? Regards Harry.

      Good evening Harry,
      After updating the NVR firmware, were you prompted to update the web plugin? If not, try closing your browser and going back onto the web interface and looking out for an update pop up.

      If it’s failing to stay on for any length of time I’d suggest returning the product to supplier and changing it for a new one. If the product did stay on and wasn’t in a boot loop I would suggest tftp to flash the firmware but if it’s constantly restarting it won’t be possible.
