We place the last stone on this addition to our stone house in the foothills of the Italian alps! For the last few weeks we have been hand shaping stone we have found on our property and using it to build up an expansion to our stone house. Today we place the final stone.

We are Heather, Bradey, Alexa and Chloe. We purchased an abandoned stone barn in the foothills of the Italian Alps and we are working together as a family to renovate and restore this old stone barn into our dream home.

In the 8th video of the series you posted a link for another security camera that looks fantastic. The link is for the American version of the security camera. The company's website doesn't appear to state clearly that the American camera will accept sim cards and data plans for installation in Europe. Does anyone know if the American camera in the link work in Italy or do you need to order the camera from the Italian site?
People that have never done this kind of work have no idea how incredibly hard it is physically. Your forearm strength is amazing. All that hammering is very difficult. Great work!

In Italy houses are built with concrete, steel and a lot of sweat, congratulations Bradey you have immersed yourself in the role of "Magutto" perfectly and the house is beautiful, it integrates perfectly with the landscape and the nature that surrounds it.

Bradley, I am so impressed with your new found rock chipping skills. I am hard pressed not to make a smart aleck comment about rock chipping rather than license plate making but I think you’re probably too young to get that reference to prison labor so I won’t bother…seriously though…very few men could attempt, much less successfully achieve your expertise. When you’re finished the result will be a huge accomplishment. Your mother and father must be very proud having raised such a talented and congenial young man. I am 80 years old and I know I would be. They did a fine job … Kudoes from PA, USA.

Brady words can not describe what you and those two gentleman have done. They are truly artisans and Brady for some one who did know nothing about stone masonry work has done an outstanding job, those two men must be very impressed with you. The addition is magnificent and it is beautiful. Those wooden beams you hued are the crowning glory. Seeing Heather so happy and excited must make you feel all that hard, weary hours and days of labour have been worth it. In years to come your little girls will proudly tell their children, grandad made this extension with his own bare hands with the help of two artisans. Have a lovely day.

If we were 20 years younger, I think we might have been tempted to purchase and restore a home in another country. Though educated and licensed in restoration architecture, I can only dream vicariously of learning skills in working with stone from your property.
However, Brady, your use of the trees and other materials around the property and the fact that you have honed these skills so wonderfully. I am overjoyed to follow this journey with all of your family !

There is something soothing about the sound of stones being chipped against the sound of nature. You should record it and post it the rest of us trying to destress at the end of a day.

I'm just so impressed by the precision of the stonework! The corners are so straight, crisp, and precise. The vertical faces of the walls are even, smooth, and well-lined-up. The stones wrapping around your hand-hewn lintels look so beautiful. I know that's how it's all supposed to be, but watching all of you chip the stones to custom-fit each one drives home the level of craftsmanship involved. You have worked alongside your 2 stone masons, and pulled your own weight. Congratulations on such awesome progress!

Watching you all build these walls out of these beautiful rocks (shale?) gives me so much peace. When I was a small child in Italy I had just lost my father and we stayed at a friend’s house. She had rocks and gravel in her front yard and I put them in structures and bags all day, then emptied the bags and broke down the structures, only to build them again the next day. It gave me so much peace and calm and I feel that again watching this clip. Thank you for such a lovely memory and I’m loving watching you all construct such beautiful walls!

This is by far the best Video I've seen, it made my understand the hardship our Great Grandparents had endured to just build a small shelter, great job.
It looks wonderful and blends well with the original construction exterior. A lot of hard, physical work for 3 persons.

Oh wow you almost have a whole room. It’s 02:04 here while watching this, seeing your coffee I think I need one too. It’s taken my husband as long to extend one wall, one mitre with gyprock as it’s taken you guys to build your whole wall. I guess you can’t rush these things but I’m over the dust. 💕
