I discovered Toyota was doing this in 2021. When I signed up for their app, I actually read the fine print. I could reject it, but then I wouldn’t have access to the fancy app and some of the features that made me buy the car. Ultimately I did reject it and cancelled the app. I’m guessing there was something that triggered it anyway at some point. All of em are crooks.

Pretty safe bet thats the main purpose of all of the car and insurance apps

If one person does this to someone else, it can be a felony.
If one company does this to thousands, it’s a class action lawsuit.
If an entire industry does this to millions, it’s a news video with fewer than 10 likes.
    😪

Rates have gone up because of reckless tesla drivers whose cars are totaled in fender benders

Tesla is def disgusting, but that cannot be the conclusion you’ve drawn from this edit? Stay focused, don’t get all your grievances jumbled up..
The ultra-rich love nothing more than to price-gouge and completely ignore basic rights, while we point the finger at each other.. remember last election, students voted with the same people that inflated prices, gave up student loan relief, for $1 off eggs.. the rich love that we’re like that 😂🤣

not just on star but credit karma, your banking app, your insurance app, and a some games track your gps and sell data. The agent that explained they can still see you even if you disable the onstar was being honest.😅

"private data," what a sweet, old-fashioned notion...

THIS is why you never agree to connect your new car to the internet or use their app, I've for the free trial. Because even if you don't pay for their data plan, the manufacturer still collects data.

No one should be tracked without their consent. That consent should CLEAR AND CONCISE, people should know what their signing up for.
With that said, i absolutely love the insurance tracking apps, you save sooooo much money if you aren't a terrible driver.
I signed up when i bought a new car, then i forgor about it. A few years later when i switched insurance carriers i saved 16% because of my safe driving habits.
I don't care if my insurance carrier knows where my car is at all times. They arent a jealous ex looking to slasg my tires 😂
