  • About 60 miles Southwest of Richmond, Virginia you'll find the High Bridge Trail State Park. The central feature for which the High Bridge Trail State Park is named is an unforgettable experience, towering 125 feet above the mighty Appomattox River and nearly a half mile (2,422 feet) across it. The bridge sits pretty much in the middle of the 31 mile trail. This ride took place on October 15, 2022.

    What a great rail trail. And not too far from me so it is definitely our list. Getting lost LOL I did that and went 10 miles the wrong direction had to turn around and go 10 miles back. I added 20 miles to my trip that day. That evening, I bought a basic subscription to Ride with GPS. It’s a great app. Since then I have moved over to the komoot app. $30 gives you a lifetime membership. It will give you voice navigation so that when you’re going the wrong direction, as I very often do, it’ll get me back on course. as an additional plus, we have some great date nights trying to design a route. Just food for thought. Thanks for the video, very obvious a lot of work went into this to give the history and everything. Great job.

      Hi. I wouldn’t normally label myself as directionally challenged, but I have had a couple of times when I’ve struck off in the wrong direction. It would be nice if they had a sign on either side of the road where we started - but maybe it was there and we just didn’t notice!! Thanks for more information on ways to overcome my challenge. I’ll study it up. “See” you again in a couple of weeks.

    Hey! I just wanted to let you know, yesterday, for the first time ever, we went out as a family, Dad, Mom, Daughter and even the dog! to bike ride at this same place and the same ride because we were inspired by you! We even ate at what I suspect was the same restaurant and had to wait an hour for our food! Keep up the good work! Thank-you so much! If you head to southern VA or northern NC and want to all go someplace together, let us know?

      Hi. So glad to hear you and the family got out for a ride. Sounds like the restaurant's service level hasn't changed -- but the view was great! Thanks for the invite to ride. We are heading West this year, so we won't be heading South until 2024. Thanks for watching. We hope to "see" you on the next adventure.

    16 miles each way from Farmville, not the bridge. The east end of the trail dead ends but finally the last miles to Pamplin City is finished

    Hi Deb & Randy - Where did you stay when you did this trail? Our 2024 camping season in our motorhome is going to include bike trails.

      Hi Sharon, We grabbed this trail as we were passing through by our way to Raleigh. We didn't have our RV, and stayed in a Marriott that was near our next planned ride -- the Neuse River Trail.

    That run looks like a lot of fun. Was the wind bothersome while on the bridge....I mean, did it bother your control over the bike? Also, didn't notice it, but did you turn the radio down whilst lookin' fer the right way to go???? Gotta do it that way, right Randy??

    • @Adventuresonebikes
      @Adventuresonebikes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Don. The bridge was fine. There wasn't a lot of wind as far as riding the bike. Sorry I'm directionally challenged when it comes to bike trails -- Randy was just worried about finding a place to have a beer!!

      Not sure if you are familiar with the Rails to Trails Conservancy Trail Link app, but that can help you see where the two trails are. We started our ride in FarmVille, Va which is just west of Richmond.
