How beautiful! thanks for taking us along. I plan to stop and camp at the State Park on my halfway point to Wilmington, NC from Delaware, OH - Saw your video and now I want to bring my bike on my road trip! :)
This is great, thanks for sharing! I have an interview with AmeriCorps tomorrow to work at New River Trail State Park with the Interpretive Trails program. I hope I get the job!
I would start by looking at the Trek Dual Sport 1 bike. It has good components and a reasonable price. Trek has several other models in the same price range. Riding trails like we do does not require a really expensive mountain bike. A good bike shop will help you select the correct size bike and then adjust it to fit your physique. We do have Schwalbe Marathon tires on our bikes. They are really tough tires with a great tread for trails. Hope you guys love riding trails with your friends. It’s great to get out in nature and very good for your health!
thanks for sharing, i just got through riding this trail. i have rid'in it several times. This is one of my favorite trails. my last ride on it, i rode to hiawassee bridge and back from foster falls. Did it in 3 hrs riding time. i think it was like 17 one way. I like the section that goes from foster falls to galax the best. i have one qt for ya'll. which rail trail that ya'll have rid'in do you like the best. i have done the creeper and the new river . I like the new river. but which one over all
Thanks for this! I'm working on planning a trip and thinking of starting from the RV park in Fries and doing an out-and-back. Your video gave me a good idea of what to expect regarding trail conditions. We ride a tandem with wide-ish 28mm tires. Glad you mentioned the tunnel - I'll plan an out-and-back toward Galax to check it out!
Thanks so much for an excellent video. I'm looking forward to riding it this summer. Question: Is it a pretty well groomed trail, or is there a good chance of a tire flat? Would it be about a 6 hour ride one-way?
The trail is well maintained by the state park maintenance staff. We did see one person with a flat tire on his road bike. We have larger hybrid tires. You could ride it in six hours but that would not provide time to stop at points of interest and enjoy the scenery!
I enjoy your videos. However, I ride a recumbent trike and this trail was a horrible ride. I can see that it would be a nice ride on a bicycle because of the single tracks. If you have recumbent trike where you need a wider path, this trail does not qualify as a good ride. The number 2 stones make it rough. It loosen several bolts on are recumbent trike.
That was very enjoyable to watch, thank you for sharing.
Dang, one more thing to add to my list...thanks for uploading.
It is a wonderful addition!😎
Great job on this video, thanks for showing us the views.

Thought this was in Tennessee lol beautiful trail, and Virginia, little bit closer. Nice video !!! Enjoyed the ride along.
Wow! A hugely beautiful bike trail!!!
Beautiful recumbent too!
Thanks for posting this. I didn’t know it existed. It looks great. I frequently ride the C&O and hope to do this sometime this year. Thanks again.
It is a great trail, you will love it! While you are in that area, don’t miss the Virginia Creeper Trail!
Such a pleasant video.
Thanks for sharing.

My wife and I are going to bikepack the NRT in 2 weeks. I'm excited! Thanks for the cool video!
How frequently are campsites? We want to bike pack this with our 9 and 12 year olds but don’t want to get stuck between camp areas...
Awesome video.. We are considering riding this trail in the Autumn of 2021. Thanks for the video
We love the New River Trail. We first rode it decades ago and it remains in the top 5 trails of all we have ridden across the U.S.

Glad you found the video helpful. You will love the trail!
Congratulations Maeve!
If I had to choose a short section, I would suggest starting in Draper and heading south toward Allisonia. However, the entire trail is a gem!
Good luck with your interview!
Thanks! I got the job! I start working at New River in May!
You are in the area I grew up . Pulaski is my hometown.
It is a great trail!

Very nice video! We love the New River Trail, have been there half a dozen times. What camera did you use on this video? Very clear looking.
GoPro 8, I impressed with the job it does! Glad you liked the video and the trail!
What is the best 5-10 mile section and or scenery to take in?
Is there parking in Pulaski for the trail?
When you get off the Pulaski exit from I 81, there is a parking lot just a short distance from the Interstate on the right.

It is a nice trail. I didn’t like campsites 🏕️.
