Guys, quick note. This doesn't support Raytracing or auto exposure AT ALL. So if you're getting black renders, that's why. Hopefully Winbush can pin this as it's a good thing to know. As always, great vid man!

For those using 5.0 and facing black screen issues. Here's the fix.
    1. Project settings > Enable alpha channel support in post processiing > Set to LinearColorSpaceOnly
    2. Remove auto exposurre from cameras and scenes.
    Worked for me!

I thought this was going to be a hard tutorial to understand but I was impressed with the soft and the nature in which i could understand everything as easy as a soft. Unreal is really the softest of the software.

Great Video! Thanks a ton. For people getting a black screen, no matter what they try, make sure you are capturing atleast 10 frames. My first few frames are also dark and then the proper images start showing.

If you look at the tooltip, allocate history per pane seems to be running a denoiser/AA filter, which explains the boost in quality and the extra render time. Must also be applying a LUT which brightens the gamma.

I've been having some trouble getting results with Allocate History Per Pane turned on, perhaps due to my PC's capabilities. But you get a very similar and faster result if you use a Post Process Volume with unbound checked; Exposure: Metering Mode - Manual; Exposure Conpensation checked; Apply Physical Camera Exposure checked (the first square on the left; the second square on the right turned of).
    Worked for me!

Thanks for that! I was able to get a good one with 5.2. A couple of things I found:
I couldn't get UE's movie render queue to generate audio output so in order to extract an audio track from my sequence I had to play the sequence in editor and use the audio mixer on a PC as an input device to record it with Audacity. I could not find a way to insert an audio track with Media Encoder so to do that I could either use Adobe Premiere Pro or ffmpeg. To add an audio track with ffmpeg I did the following:
    ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -i audiotrack.wav -map 0:v:0 -map 1:a:0 -strict unofficial -shortest output.mp4
The -strict unofficial is the thing that will copy the side data containing the 360 metadata. Otherwise the video will lose that and not open in 360 or VR.
The yaw of the pano didn't track with the camera in my sequence though so the view was always centered at 0º regardless of how the camera from the sequence moved. To do that I had to use Premiere Pro instead of Media Encoder. It has the same settings but also allows you to add distort > offset as an effect where you can adjust and key frame the center point of the pano. Also Premiere allows you to add an audio track so no need for ffmpeg and also you can add stuff like text overlay if you want.
Checking off Allocate History per Frame on the UE Movie Render Queue settings as Winbush pointed out was essential but I still had some black bars appearing on the poles at a point in the video. Not terribly noticeable but if anyone has a trick for completely eliminating that it would be good to know.
    Thanks again!

Did you also try to setup 2 cameras, just an a tiny bit apart from each other, then render both out, combine the images to stereoscopic (top/bottom) and make a stereoscopic panoramic? I've not messed with this stuff over the past year as they never did make official documentation on how to even use it

Hi! Is there a way to rotate the view? Even if I rotate the camera the position is still the same..

Hi Winbush, Love your tutorials man. Keep it up!
I had some doubts, Firstly - i might sound dumb, but can we export 360 movies from this method?
and secondly, if first is possible, then can we export path traced 360 movies from this method??
because i havent tried panoramic capture tool which is a blueprint based method and the Camera 360 V2 plugin is out of my budget.
    Eagerly waiting for your reply.
    Thanks and cheers!!

Yup you can export a movie using this and I havent tried path tracing but I believe that should work as well

Any tips on getting the pano render to actually use my CineCamera placement? Seems to want to default to my player start/position and I can't get around that.

Hi! At first thank you for this video! I repeat what you did, but I have 119(sometimes 149) images. Why do I have so many images? Moreover, the image quality is terrible. it gets worse after processing in the media encoder program.

    • @JonathanWinbush
      @JonathanWinbush  ปีที่แล้ว +1

It's still in beta / experimental phase but I think it's going to be more flushed out in 5.1 and hopefully with documentation as well. You have images as well because you rendered an image sequence if you want a mov use ProRes instead.

Great tutorial, thanks for the video. May I ask the following questions?
    1. How do I turn off motion blur in rendering?
    2. When I render the sequence and export the vr video in media encored, a black line appears at the image stitching, how can I fix it?

Tried it with 5.03 and it works. Seems like 5.1 doesn't work with some Hardware or Driver. Got one PC with two 1080, which seem to work. On another with a 3090 it doesn't.

when i try to render some frames I keep getting only completely dark images, it seems that the lights doesn't work with that, is there someone that knows why and if there's some sort of fix for that?
