Lofree Edge Review - Ultra Low Profile Mechanical Keyboard
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 2 มิ.ย. 2024
- The Lofree Edge is an ultra-low profile mechanical keyboard with new kailh POM switches that have less travel and a super thin case made of premium materials. The experience overall feels somewhere in between a membrane keyboard and a low profile mechanical and the build quality is excellent.

the font is horrible
Just give us Lofree Flow 2.0 with missing features from Nuphy Air 75 V2. This is not Lofree Flow 2.0 that they promised.
I double that request.
@andyle248 what are the missing features of Air 75/60v2?
Do we know if the lowfree flow 2.0 is still comming? Or is that the keyboard they meant when they said "flow 2.0"? Cause I want a flow, but if they make a 2.0 with a software, I'll wait for that one, cause I'm not interested in the edge at all.
@@you-never-know9113 A good battery, 2.4ghz connection, better switch compatibility (LoFree Flow has a grand total of 2 options), good backlighting options.
Lofree Flow + QMK/VIA + 2.4GHz + flip-out feet + selectable color/switches = what we wanted
Kudos to them for swinging for the fences here with the design, but it just doesn’t land for me personally.
honestly not a big fan of the design and aesthetics of this keyboard compare to lofree flow and other low profile keyboards.
I want a lofree with a 2.4ghz wireless, QMK/VIA support, shine-thru keycap and a 4000 mAh battery :|
It seems that we all want that..
Yes! I'm still hoping for that as well.
word
Thanks for the review. Guess I am going for the Lofree Flow when version 2 comes out and will see.
We needed the flow v2, not this
they did go in quite a different direction!
I hold off buying the flow v1 when there was rumors about flow v2. but we got this instead lmao
Completely agree. They needed to upgrade the LEDs, use better keycaps, make the USB connection location better, remove the mounted feet and add flip out ones, and add better wireless options. THAT, would have gotten my money.
This keyboard makes me decide to purchase Nuphy Air v2.
One more for Category Neutral is that it has no 4-split or 3-split space bar option.
Always nice to have the option to use your thumbs instead of pinky's for the Shift, Enter, and Backspace or even Escape
This looks like a cool keyboard but I am struggling to see why someone might choose it over Lofree Flow
Thank you for the review.
I really like this keyboard, was not a big fan of nippy air 75. Especially because of the keycaps.
So, do you know when it will be available for sell?
Or would you consider selling yours? 😀
what's wrong with nuphy keycaps?
Was hearing rumors that there was a Lofree Flow V2 and to hear this is it is disappointing. Was hoping for a similar design with additional features which would have been an insta-buy for me :( oh well I guess i continue to wait.
What kind of pinout does this use? It's slimmer than Kailh Choc 2.0 (that the Flow used), but doesn't have the same keycaps that Kailh Choc 1.0 had. Is this Kailh Choc 1.0 with a different stem or is this yet another low profile switch standard?
Does the fn key output a key code to the computer or is it only on the keyboard?
Interesting to mention the proprietary configurator as a pro. I get that compared to no option at all, but it's a much bigger con for me not having QMK/VIA/VIAL. On the bright side, it does have a win option, and anybody really interested in remapping can achieve that at a close-to-VIA level with karabiner. The major downside with that is you can't remap a key if it doesn't actually output a key code to the computer, like many of these random non-QMK/VIA/VIAL softwares/devices, which then leaves you with a bum key in a rather desirable bottom-row location
when the Lofree V2 is come? ,some feature in Nuphy air v2 is much better im waiting to new version of Lofree v2
Looks like an interesting project. I'll be waiting until it appears on Amazon.
The terrible font on the keycaps is a deal breaker. Also Kickstarters for already successful companies is gross. This will be a hard pass for me.
Sounds quite nice, looks premium, but really could improve the visibility on the keycaps (shine-through would be best like a notebook).
I haven't used a low profile in a while but watched your previous reviews and then this one as the discount on kickstarter is appealing... however I just don't like the front and no 2.4GHz wireless or Mac customization support made me order the Air75v2 a few days ago. It's already shipping and definitely looking forward to giving it a try!
I LOVE the ultra-low profile design, but the gamer font is very disappointing.
If a company will PLEASE come out with a board that has an ultra-low profile design, light linear switches (maybe 40-45 grams), regular font, and basically makes it look and feel like an Apple Magic Keyboard...that would be fantastic.
Thanks for the review.
Who made the design choice on those crappy fonts and non hot swap?
Don't like the lack of shine-through and lack of 100-key option. But I backed the Kickstarter campaign because it sounds like the perfect replacement for my Logitech K740. That travel distance hits the right spot for me.
i wont be looking at the keycaps while typing so thid keyboard is great to me. Its ultra low profile and i love low profile than anything easy buy for me
i don't know how to explain it but to me, it sounds quite...dry. not sure i appreciate the porsche design-esque aesthetics as well.
Porsche aesthetics are some of the best in the car industry. This looks like ass.
it's parched
It looks like it's still in the prototype stage.
I think the Flow was many times better than this. There was so much customization potential with their previous board. 170$ is just unjustifiable for me.
I’ll stick to my Gem80 that I got after watching your review on it. I waited almost a month for it to arrive tho. I’ve been using it for a few weeks and I love it (I went all stock except for the switches which are silent)
Glad you're enjoying the Gem80! I'm still hoping for a Lofree Flow V2 that adds the missing features from the original.
@@semiprotech That would be a great next move. Or at least to see some crucial improvements to this board such as hotswap and a caps remake (either better font and contrast or shinethrough) it’s 2024 after all. You can get a 65% keeb with wireless and hotswap for 25$. Obviously not amazing but you can mod one to be quite decent for an extra 30-ish bucks
I backed them on Kickstarter since $129 is a fair price. I already have the Flow (👍👍) and would like to see the Edge be my travel default. Of course, ship ETA is July 😅🇺🇸🚢 ⌨️🇭🇰
Will you be reviewing the upcoming Nuphy halo 75 v2?
Yes I will! I'm expecting to receive one in early May to review.
@@semiprotech Perfect thanks! Looking forward to it :)
Love that low profile keyboards are continuing to become available. I will say though, that as a girl leaning into cute, pretty, earthy, or neutral kinds of aesthetic, the look of this will not win a purchase from me.
The only benefit for not using the standard hot swappable socket, is a benefit for the manufacturer. This is the equivalent of apple products making all their stuff proprietary. Not only do you pay more (for the same stuff), but you will pay even more later on.
Kinda looks like a Logitech MX. Shame that lofree don’t have a uk iso layout available.
Is it poosible to configure nordic letters?
Lofree Flow is a much better design and more high end.
No shine through keys is a deal breaker
oh? review embargo lifted early?
I asked Lofree when to post and they said the 24th was good so I went with that!
this one is a big miss
It'd be better if they make top and bottom edge symmetric.
Looks great😮
Horrible font too
I want it in white
CHIN-TASTIC!!!
I respect that Lofree offers a really wide spectrum of products and designs, but this keyboard definitely ain't it for me. I love my Lofree Flow and I think the Lofree 1% looks really cool, but I'm not a fan of this Edge at all
Yup they took a big swing with the Edge whereas the Flow was much more of a crowd pleasing design & feel (in a good way). I'm still hoping for a Flow V2 with some added features!
No shine through switches is a complete deal breaker for me as is that uncomfortable giant chin.
holy f it looks atrocious, whoever chose the font needs to be fired
This one must be great! Cant wait to review mine
키보드 리뷰를 하는데 대체 왜 타건을 안하는건지 ㄹㅇ 이해가 안되네
great sound, LOVE how low profile it is, but the carbon fiber skin and lack of a white & silver option like the lofree flow bring me great pain. this will be a pass
is a pass!
Not a huge fan of the carbon fiber look
The font is atrocious, the design with the carb is very ugly (looks like what a 14yo gamer would buy), visible screws on the keyboard, no white option, non hot swappable, backlighting is awful, 249$ for that (or 149$ with their kickstarter for a few more days) etc. the list of cons is massive and never ending. The only thing good with that keyboard is the low profile/how slim it is (i want only low profile keyboards, can't stand the regular mechanical keyboards)
looks ugly compared to the flow, just give us a better flow
Looks hideous!
Oh i'd probably prefer this to the Flow which is a bit too high for me after being used to Apple keyboards for decades.
But i HATE those keycaps they're so ugly it's ridiculous
That Font is🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢
