Absolutely stunning work. Especially like the 2nd photo in. Excellent composition on this piece as well as the rest of your work! You are gifted for capturing amazing compositions and overall beauty of your surroundings!!!Thanks for sharing.
Your going to love it. Don't listen to the nay sayers it's a great camera, just to put you at ease, I've dropped mine 3 times with lens attached ( because I'm a half wit) and still works and has not damaged it. Although I would carry it with a neck strap or wrist strap , the tripod screw is not all that clever, and some people have had it ripped out when attached to a capture clip / rucksack camera clip. Thank you for watching. Regards Joe.
To be honest ,I wouldn't like to say ,I've never used one . I got the L-bracket for the extended grip feature . And when I go on hikes I put it in my jacket pocket with the Panasonic 14mm f2.5 attached and the 40-150mm f4-5.6 ii in my other pocket. But would i personally trust it? probably not .
Awesome mate. About shooting underexposed vs overexposed on the OM-5: In my experience Olympus can recover highlights better than shadows. Bringing up shadows creates a more "muddy" colour shift in post, so on my OM-5 I usually expose more for shadows and bring down the highlights if needed. Also, just got to say you got a very beautiful woodland with amazing colours.
Hello Jimmy , thank you for popping by. I'm afraid that underexposing is a habit I've brought along from my Nikon days , I've really got to think more about micro four thirds ,and it's capabilities, I shall endeavour to try this out on my next video .
Love the video and images. I’m a little reluctant to post this comment as it might be construed the wrong way, it is by no means meant as a criticism or to give the impression I’m a pedant or know it all. Simply to make sure that people who are unfamiliar with the OM-System cameras won’t get the wrong impression, go out and buy one for a specific use case and find out it doesn’t work the way they expected. Specifically where you took the image of the foreground fern with the yellowing trees in the background where you said you had hi-res and focus bracketing enabled. Both of these modes are computational and the camera will only allow one computational mode at a time. On the OM-5 it’s a little misleading as the menu system will show both as active but in reality the focus bracketing will override the hi-res mode. You can verify this by looking at the icons displayed on the rear screen, only BKT will be displayed. On the OM-1’s the menu system will automatically disable one or the other and show this in the menu system. It’s also worth mentioning that there are two focus ‘bracketing’ modes, straight bracketing where the camera simply takes a number of exposures from front to back shifting the focus by the differential until all exposures are taken (up to 99 on the OM-5) or infinity has been reached, and stacking which is limited to 8 exposures that also creates a composite processed jpeg image as well as the individual exposures. In the stacking mode the camera takes the initial exposure at the specified focus point, moves closer to the camera for two exposures, skips the starting point then moves away from the camera for the remainder of the shots. I know your video isn’t targeted at technical aspects and hope I haven’t offended you (or anyone else for that matter) by posting this and apologise profusely if I have but I love the OM-System cameras and respect the fact that you showcased one in your video. Regards, Pete
Hello pete . Yes you are right , I did wonder if this was the case after I got home from doing this , it does seem that it's one or the other and not both, but wouldn't it be great if you could though. I've not had the camera long, and let's face it, I'm still a newbie at M43 and welcome advice and tips from more well established M43 users. I absolutely love the om-5 , it is a great little camera that suits my style extremely well . You haven't offended in any way and appreciate your comment . Kind regards Joe.
@ thanks Joe, I appreciate that. Agree it would be good if they could combine some of the computational features but I doubt if they’ll ever do it though. If you think about how they’d have to do it, it would require heaps of processing and buffer (memory) especially if you stack them in camera. Imagine processing up to 99 (in the OM-5) and 999 (in the OM-1) hi-res shots in a bracket, the camera would be busy for a long time. Plus if you have a reasonably long shutter the hi-res shots take a long time to expose as well. The OM-5 took a lot of stick when it was released but I think it’s a terrific camera, all of the OM cameras are such fun to use.
The depth of field on micro four thirds at any given aperture is exactly equivalent to the same aperture and focal length on full frame when the camera and lens are shot from the same location. The difference comes into play when the identical field of view captured is equal with the same focal length lens on the two systems causing the micro four thirds user to back away from the subject to obtain the same f.o.v therefore increasing the d.o.f. 2.8 on 35mm is 2.8 on 35mm, no matter the system.
Hello Robert . I managed to get one on Alli Express, and it cost me £13. It's solid made and fits well , the side bit is removable, which I have now done, and it's got an extension to the grip built in . I got it for the grip feature and to help protect it a bit when I drop it, which I have done twice 🙄. Just search L bracket OM-5 on Alli express

Thank you very much. That's very kind of you to say. But I'm my own worst critic. 🤣🤣
Nice video. My new OM5 turned up today, so I'm excited to start using it. Your photos look great👍

@Wessexphotography... Thanks for the reply.
If I got the cheap L bracket that you use, would that stop the tripod thread insert being an issue?
To be honest ,I wouldn't like to say ,I've never used one .

@@Wessexphotography... OK cool.
Is the 40-150 the plastic fantastic? Looks like a used price bargain 👌👌
It is the plastic fantastic, small lightweight and really surprisingly sharp. Just don't drop it 🤣🤣

Thank you Brian. And for watching 👀.
Thanks for sharing your experience Joe.... great results... cheers from Australia 🦘🦘😊
Thank you Robert. I was pleased with the results.
Had fun editing them also.

Isn't that what I said 🤔.
But not as indepth.
Hi Joe. What is the L bracket you are using on that OM-5 please?
