- Today on Grizzly Gearhead we finally get to hear the HKS Blow off valve in its current state. Although proper vacuum still needs to be run through a boost tap, it still sounds bad ass. Nothing like some old fashion turbo flutter.

The BOV is universal, however the kit from USP is for the MK7. Also it is not recommended to use BOV's on the MK6 because it uses a MAF instead of a MAP sensor.

I believe it is because of where I am running my vacuum lines. Once I install my boost tap we will see if the sound changes.
Grizz im running the same HKS blow off valve on a STI that is NOT what its supposed to sound like... in fact i agree with the others your BOV isn't working right or at all.

Dont push or pull that hard on that gear lever, you will not go faster, but send your gti faster to a repear shop.

I want to do a hks blow off but all I keep hearing is that vw are meant for blow off valves that’s why they have diverter valves to recirculat the air back in. And I also can find a pipe with the flange welded on it for the hks to hook up to did you fabricate your own ?

What kind of turbo you have on this MK7? How much mm? I'm curious about the wooshy flutter you got like on supras and my 1.8t doesn't have that, only a flutter without a wooshy thing to it
The flutter was due to improper vacuum. If you watch my recent build update you can hear what it sounds like now. As for turbo I am still on the stock IS20 turbo.

Hello! I attempted to use the Zoom H4N Pro but being my first time using it the audio was un-usable. The audio you hear is mostly from my GoPro. lol

Sounds really good. My forge BOV is still holding up and I love it. It sounds like the HKS one sounds like my Forge when the cap got loose haha. I really hope you come down for Occupy Big Bear in the fall!

Also i had a 2018 gti and turned off the synthetic sound off and the turbo soune amazing i npw have q 2019 gti and the turbo flutter is no where to be heard you recommend me to get that part?

Sounds more like a turbo flutter
yeah it’s compressor surge, too must pressure for the blow off valve to release, he’s damaging the turbo with each sutututu. granted it’ll probably never break because it barely harms it, just not good.
Yeah... it is the turbo fluttering but this will never damage your turbo, only gonna brake or desaccelerate it.
Turbo surge is the real problem and its not the same as fluttering.
I can hear it, it's the" chew" before the flutter, full boost more chew less flutter
Yeah turbo flutter mean your bov isn't working properly

For my vag cars I roll with the forge. I have a splitter on my b5, and a 008 on my fiance's mk4 Gti. They are both reflect tuned and catless.

If to have the Stututu you need to remove the valve so that the air returns to the turbine. How can you do the stututu using a valve? Being that in fact the Stututu comes from car turbos with the valve removed.

How do you get that stutututu sound? Is the bov or do you do something to it? Sounds amazing
He has it set up wrong but not wrong. The bov is too tight so the air is being forced back out the intake. The size and length of pipe determine the sound as the turbin chops the air on the way out. You want a whooshing sound not flutter but that's no fun.
