Old school fast and the furious sounds! But when drifting it gets a little obnoxious. I had it on for about a year. The good thing is switching them takes 15 minutes
The HKS SSQV 4 Is the one with the iconic whistle. The Type S and the SSQV Stand far and above pretty much every single BOV out there. In terms of performance there is really so much you can get out of a BOV/BPV. These two are really the peak and also sound the best. Even on a supercharger the HKS SSQV has an iconic "flutter whistle" and since a supercharger is always under load... well needless to say its a sound that will stick with you for a while. Beautiful how compressed air can make your everyday 6 cylinder sound like a spaceship.
I love the Greddy type s and the HKS ssqv bov's, brings back a lot of memos, sadly i don't know where my hks ssqv bov went its been years but i still have 3 OG greddy type s bov and recently got an NGR type s bov. Nice build bro.
As a boosted NA8 Miata owner who lives in Oregon, that's a clean whip! Idk why more companies don't try to emulate the Greddy BOV sound- it's so iconic, especially for these 90's vehicles. All the newer BOV's sound so similar imo. The adjustments and springs on the greddy compared to all the newer style BOV's are a little tough to get under my thumb- but man, the sound is like no other.
A recirculated bov dumps the air back into the intake tract after the maf but before the turbo. Has nothing to do with hearing anything from the exhaust.
Yeah I caught that too lol. I meant I had a dump tube so you wouldn’t hear turbo noises. Most of the time I record on the fly, non scripted so I say things that are wrong or use the wrong term.
How’s it run without the BOV recirculated? I have an RB20 in mine and was considering a vent to atmosphere, but didn’t know how it’d effect the afr. I’m on stock turbo, injectors and ecu.
I'm running my RB20 completely stock, no BOV. It sounds exponentially better than either of these. I could care less about the turbo as I am working on a top mount and Holset turbo.
There are good write ups with information and hopefully a good TH-cam video. I bought mine from a JDM importer on Instagram that always has legit stuff. Otherwise I would have done more research on what’s real and what’s rep
From what i heard Greddy actually sold the rights to ngr so their type s blow off valve is just as good or better. They also sell the seals and diaphragm so if you do find a greddy one that needs a rebuild you can make it good as new.
Loved the Greddy Type S sound!

Thank you! How’s the NRG bov?
@@Boost-EdAutomotive you're welcome and search NGR type s bov, sounds just like the OG greddy type s
@@veasnayem598I have an OG one available with the adjustment bolt and nut on the rear

Thanks! I know cxracing has a greddy style and it performed and sounded good!
More compressor surge with the HKS. I'm rebuilding a 92 Laser AWD and have a Synapse Engineering BOV going on. Thanks for the video. Enjoyed it.
Yeah, I can ease out of boost and get some surge but if I’m in and out of boost the bov pshhh for me haha
@@Boost-EdAutomotive Just noticed. Are you up by Arlington Airport?
@reubenmorris487 no, I’m in Washington state
I have a greddy type s bov tucked away from when i do turbo but I think i will get an hks ssq because i like em both lol
They’re too hard to choose from lol that’s why I’m switching it up

Gotcha! So then what would it be called when it dumps into the exhaust system?
Haha nevermind, I was thinking of the wastegate 😩 too busy at work to respond to that one
Need to add a greddy type r to the collection.
They aren’t to hard to switch out whenever you want a little bit of a different sound
You can always run the obx 47mm competition 2 bov same as greddy
Thanks for the video
Which one did you end up keeping on the car?

I heard it will mess with afr, leaning it out. I’ve had my car tuned for more boost and the bov was vented to atmosphere just before that.

@@dude7838 yeah turbo flutter does sound cool. I really enjoy the sound of controlled pressure release though
i want one for my fd. where did you get it?
Check eBay out and google. Going to have to search pretty good as they are getting hard to find
Hks ssqv sounds similar and so equally sick
Thats an awesome car
Thank you!
Sounds wayyyyy better than any of the garbage sounding bypass Valves these days
Most people aren’t even running them anymore
Any idea on how to authenticate a greddy type s bov? I’m trying to buy one now but I don’t want a fake

prof sheepdog bov is nice too
Gonna have to look that one up
Hks with a turbo that has the t51r mod is the best sounds in the world!
I’ve heard about those mods! Would definitely be a noise maker haha
Can't wait to find out. I have a ssqv on my sr20det powered s12 and a t51r modded gtx2871 will be joining it.
Obx 47mm competition 2 bov for the win
Thomas Kevin Miller Donna Garcia Melissa
Money wasted
Definitely, gotta go for that tsutsutsuu no BOV sounds
