For my ST185 North American spec Celica Alltrac Turbo these guys at NXT LVL did a full engine build, custom stroker, intercooler, turbo, exhaust manifold, intake manifold, 3" exhaust, intake piping, fuel system...the list goes on. Couldn't be happier with the results. Great to see some of this R&D again on a new platform!
Yeah it was definitely a bit of a disappointment but the kit itself seems to be working fine. I think the tuner has found a way around it since and we're just waiting to squeeze back in to his schedule for some more time on the dyno
Love the updates! So encouraging to see the limit for tuning get expanded on this car. Hopefully ecutek can help raise those barriers. Do you think any stock components might break beyond it?
I think the stock clutch is probably going to be the first stock item to give up, but we’ll see. We’ll be taking this thing to the drag strip so it’ll be interesting to see how everything holds up.
@@nxtlvlmotors on the hks turbocharge build, third gear was the first thing to go out, they were on stock internals and trans pushing 480whp supposedly
Can you use a 2nd boost sensor reading ambient atmosphere to trick ecutek into reading a fake boost psi instead of actual psi? That is the issue correct?
Unfortunately not. It's not really a pressure limitation. It's more to do with a load value that the ECU calculates. For example it sees Y grams per second from the MAF and then it correlates that to Y Load value. In the gen 1 cars you can increase the load limit but currently with the gen 2, you can't. Supposed to be fixed in an update soon.
were you guys were able to fix the ecutek load limit? I'm interested in the turbo kit but I have to wait untill the tuning problems are sorted out and see the correct numbers. Thank you for the amazing work! :)
@@nxtlvlmotors I see it now! Will we get a step by step Install video on how to install the NIC and IC turbo kits? Also will you return to the dyno with an upgraded map sensor for more power?
I’m curious as to why offer/test a non intercooled set up? Even boosted economy cars and grocery getter CUVs all have some sort of a charge air cooler nowadays, so why would anyone want to do without one in a performance car application?
Because you can make around 300 at the wheels while keeping the cost down. You can then add on the rest of the intercooled portion of the kit later, along with the fuel system and other supporting mods required. Very few supporting mods are required for the non-intercooled kit.
We'll have to see how the engines hold up over time through people stress testing them. For reference, HKS is pushing them to 450hp with their new turbo kits and they would only push the previous gen to about 350 for whatever that's worth.
with the turbo kits, will you make an installation video, i wanna buy one but this would be the first time i've worked on my car before. really excited to mod it with some of your guys stuff
We will be doing an installation video a bit down the line for sure. These cars are a lot easier to install a turbo system on than most out there, thankfully!
Woah! You paid for a kit and haven’t heard anything from them??😮. Noticed website is down now. I switched to just getting used bmw m2 instead of dealing with the list of disappointments from gr86. Toyota should have just made it turbo or 3.0 flat 6 300hp like previous 2.0 200hp.

Yeah unfortunately we were just not taking video of the graph because we weren’t getting to the point of increasing boost levels over and above wastegate pressure due to the load limit issues with ecutek. We were expecting to start turning the boost up a bit and take some videos of the graph as that happened but it didn’t go quite as planned unfortunately. Not uncommon for issues to pop up during the initial visit to the dyno and even more so when the engine management you’re using is in a beta state.
Make sure you guys are getting rest. Amazing work past few weeks don’t burn your selves out!!
Sometimes we rest.
I cannot express how many times I have check in the past couple of days for this vid !!!

Has our 2.5” exhaust system
Didnt know you guys were somewhat local to me, im east of edmonton waiting on mine
You definitely won't be disappointed. It's a big step up from the gen 1 cars IMO.

Visited the site. I assume ecutek tune of some sort is required for either setup?
Yep. Need some kind of tuning solutions to go turbocharged. ECUTEK or a stand-alone are about your only options right now.
Amazing to see its potential being uncovered! Looking to get one here in Edmonton, how long was the wait for this blue guy? Calgary I assume?
Ordered in September 2021, arrived January 2022.

This project is dead because of ecu tuning limitations ?
is this compatible with autos?
Why do you need to test non intercooler set up?
To verify how far it can be pushed, where the iat’s go, etc.

Is an aftermarket sensor required to run 8psi to push 300whp? Or are we waiting for ecutek to allow more psi
Stock MAP sensor is limited to 6psi. Highly recommend an upgraded map sensor.
@@nxtlvlmotors can one be included in the kit for purchase similar to the upgraded fuel pump and Injectors?
Should have the option for the upgraded MAP sensor on the site there. Under the "upgraded map sensor" dropdown.

stock engine! they say in another video :)
Like Rasmus said, stock engine. We'll keep it stock for as long as the stock motor holds up to what we're going to put it through.
