That wrist roller, there's a version of that shown in the book The Way to Live by George Hackenschmidt

You remind me of my beloved Sifu, Richard M. Guerra of Mano De Guerra Wing Chun/ Escrima/Karate - Jutsu. He trained old school. He was known as El Tigre in the old days when he was a Karate Champ. I miss him!

Keith Pevey thank you very much for your comment. My Sensei also died and I miss him too. But he is with us in each class, in spirit and physically through a video we watch of him leading our class as we train. I am sure your sifu is watching you also.

Damien Huerta I do karate as I was taught in the old days. and I teach young people the same way as I was taught. the exercises they do I do with them also. the best students are teenagers. they inspire me. because of their dedication to karate. 99 out of 100 quit. but the ones that stay doing it after brown belt really inspire me. plus doing kata and the exercises are extremely important to people over 50, because this is a very great exercise for the elderly. it keeps your body fit and if you do the kata exactly it keeps your memory fit also. I was born 15 of December 1943 so figure out how old I am. Thanks for your comment.

Hey Sensei Nick. You said there were 3 gates. Leave your worries and stress at the first one. What about the other two gates?

what kind of karate is Okinawan Karate comparable to? is it similar to Kyokushin or Shotokan at all

FRMOutsideSpace those originated in okinawa. for example when karate came to japan. the Japanese were fighting the chinese, the Japanese wouldn't allow any words out of the Japanese language. when you write karate in japanese it means empty hand. when you write karate in Chinese it's called China hand. so funakoshi sensei pronounced karate the same way but wrote it different. so the same pronouncation meant empty hand in japanese, not China hand. the kata is exact like in Okinawa but the bunkai, history and terminology was Chinese and Okinawan language, thus it was left out if sensei funakoshi had left it in the original way, the Japanese in those days would of chopped his head off.
