    Thanks for sharing the video. I have a 40 year old house with cedar siding that needs to be stained. Watching your instructional video is step one.

    Before restaining my cedar house, I decided to check out TH-cam, and I'm glad I did. Thanks for sharing!

    Looks great. I read that I need to use wood brightener after I strip the wood. I noticed that you didn't. Any idea on when it is necessary or unnecessary to do so?

    Looks nice! Although a key step you missed (it seems) is penetrating stain now matter how applied has to be back brushed for a better uniform finish. Just CC.

    Great video thanks! What nozzle did you use when rinsing off the cleaner? I think my cedar is bit older and concerned about tearing up the wood with the pressure washer.

    • @TheHooliganOutdoors
      @TheHooliganOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      I used the "turbo" nozzle, the most powerful one, but places that might get damaged I would just move the nozzle away and some that were tougher to clean I would put it closer, as needed.

    Considering trying to do something like this soon.
    Was your home originally stained when you bought it?
    I ask b/c ours has a stain that’s fading and I’m wondering if that cleaner you used will take it off.

    • @TheHooliganOutdoors
      @TheHooliganOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry I just now seen your comment/question. Did you give it a try already? I don't know for sure if ours was stained before, but I assume it was and it had mostly just been work off. I don't think anything had been done to it since it was built around 1985 or 1986. I think the cleaner along with the pressure washer would likely take it off.

    I have been doing some researh on this, becasue I have a friend who wants me to do his house. I have seen guys talk about backrolling the stain on after a spray. What is your take on that? Did you consider backrolling? What was are your sources before taking on project? Thanks for posting this regardless.

    • @TheHooliganOutdoors
      @TheHooliganOutdoors  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't think I had any sources before I started, I just kind of went at it lol. I didn't know anything about backrolling when I took on this project, but I would assume it would help the stain to soak in more probably. It's been about 3.5 years since I sprayed mine and it still looks good.

    Looks amazing!! Do you know what it was treated with originally? I am in the same situation with my house having been treated with Sikkens in 1988 when it was first built.

    • @TheHooliganOutdoors
      @TheHooliganOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I'm not sure what was used originally, but whatever it was, I think it had mostly worn off. This house was built around 1985 and I'm not sure it was ever re-stained or sealed.

    • @TheHooliganOutdoors
      @TheHooliganOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, I believe this house was built around 85 or 86 and I'm pretty sure it's the original cedar siding.

    @jecarde4088 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Beautiful! Also it looks like you only did a single layer of stain. Is this true? I’m planning to do a similar job on my house as well and want to plan how much stain I will be needed. Also how long did the house and garage take?

    • @TheHooliganOutdoors
      @TheHooliganOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Yea I only did one coat and after one year it still looks great. It probably took about 3 days, but I can't remember exactly. There were times I had to wait due to rain or wind.

    Well done! Your house looks beautiful. My husband and I are going to restain our house and this is so helpful! It looks like you covered some of your windows when staining. What did you use? Also - how close did you get to the house when pressure washing?

    • @TheHooliganOutdoors
      @TheHooliganOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks I appreciate it! I think I just used some cardboard to cover windows. Or it was a roll of paper you can get at lowes pretty cheap, I think it's actually to put on the floor. I'd say I was about a foot away maybe, just depending on how good or bad it was cleaning. Maybe sometimes closer if needed, but you can tell when you start spraying how close or far you need to be.

    Hi. Did you apply any other thing beside the stain? Like wood conditioner , sealant etc. Thank you

    • @TheHooliganOutdoors
      @TheHooliganOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope, just sprayed it with soap, let it sit 5 or 10 minutes, power washed it off, let it dry, then sprayed the stain. I think I might spray it with some thompsons water seal or something like that sometime soon though just to make it last even longer.
