you guys use to be worthy of the title of modern rogue when you were making potato guns out of your garage and finding eachothers dead drops. idk when you guys lost your touch with what a modern rogue was but over time you guys have lost your luster and have resorted to making drinks and explaing super obscure non-practical martial arts. ive been subscribed for a very long time but ive been hoping for a modern rogue worthy video for so long at this point im under the impression its never gonna come.
Its weird how I found modern rogue a while ago, had a friend introduce me to whiskey tribe, and to see Brian on both. Man has good tastes in aclohols it seems
I’m really proud of Jason for feeling comfortable in doing these booze episodes again. I hope he continues to feel comfortable doing them and has a great time.
I do wish they would also bring Cory or Bryce or someone along (on camera) for these, though, so we got more "uneducated" impressions of the drinks themselves.
Sounds like a great cocktail, but for it being for a person with a "modest bar but want to make a incredible cocktail" it uses some pretty obscure ingredients that aren't accessible in many states
Yeah, bitters, vermouth amaro and rye would be totally doable but then she picked a weird niche version of everything that I doubt is easily accessible. Its a good video, but explained wrong
That's the great thing about cocktails - you don't need the exact same variety as they are using. Get an Amaro, get floral bitters, get a rye whiskey with the characteristics she described.
Just wanted to point out that traditionally a manhattan is a rye drink. Bars switched to bourbon to gain broader appeal because of how stout rye can be, but the traditional recipe is rye whisky.
Yeah, it's a very confusingly named family of drinks, all really vermouth cocktails. X parts spirit, X parts vermouth, and usually a bitters, and often a liqueur like Maraschino. Sharon Tyler Herbst's book, The Ultimate A-To-Z Bar Guide, lists 112 cocktails using dry vermouth and 82 containing sweet vermouth. Cocktails using either dry or sweet vermouth or both include the Americano, Bronx, Gibson, Malecon, Manhattan, Negroni, Rob Roy, and Rose.
Two things before the five minute mark. 1) Brian may have never experienced any variety in curries, or never even had a curry before. Seems like an idea for an episode "How to Curry" 2) Herbaceous totally sounds like something you'd here skateboarders in an 80s/90s film saying as they swipe some chrysanthemum for some reason.
I actually got into making drinks because of the aviation video years ago. I've been building out my bar ever since then. I'm now at a point in my cocktail experience that I can tell I will loathe this drink without even making it lol
Good information, but for some reason the Trevor episodes are more compelling. Maybe he just has more screen presence? The lighting at his bar definitely has more character. Maybe that's what it is - the lighting on this shoot lacks texture.
@modernrogueshow Oh darling...It's actually cheapest to most expensive ingredient. Amount doesn't matter if you are adding 6oz of soda water to your 2-1/2oz whisky....
I'll just stick with my old fashioned, less expensive ingredients and I love them. Simple 2 barspoons simple, 2 dashes of angastora, 2oz of whiskey of your choice though I personally like wild turkey 101 for a somewhat budget bourbon. Orange twist at the end optional, though I like it. No cherries.
- riots and looting - a pee-do-file chasing after you - a convicted woman beater tries to cave in your skull with a skateboard - another convicted felon sneaks up to you and tries to execute you with a pistol "for no reason"
@@pjlengacher7607 Sounds to me like the best play would have been to not take a rifle all the way into another state, approach people protesting with said rifle, and shoot people. There are police and military for protection, and an entire judicial system for prosecution. Make an episode with West Virginia moonshine
I like this new bartender they have, but I also miss Trevor. Hopefully they can have him back on the show soon.
Right? She’s great, I miss Trevor tho
@Anidilya Probably just busy. He was never a member of The Modern Rogue, but was a guest they brought on.
Its weird how I found modern rogue a while ago, had a friend introduce me to whiskey tribe, and to see Brian on both. Man has good tastes in aclohols it seems
I went the other way. I can confirm Brian is an excellent dude.
With So-Han showing up on Whiskey Tribe lately, I'm really loving the Austin TH-cam-iverse!
I’m really proud of Jason for feeling comfortable in doing these booze episodes again. I hope he continues to feel comfortable doing them and has a great time.
I'm out of the loop, what happened?
@@Scoops_F1 he stopped drinking

I came here to say this precise thing. Ain’t nobody got sources for this fancy crap man.
Aye they should have went for a basic version then say "oh if you want to elevate it go *recipe in video"
Right? Like let me go find this crazy obscure bottle to try and make a drink I *might* like?

They need to make some "Mocktails" for the people that don't drink alcohol. I feel bad for Jason not getting to try anything of the drinks.
stay tuned! -Annaliese
Yo, that's an awesome idea (apparently good enough that they already thought of it too, haha)
Brian talking about Cardamom sounding like a Pokemon primed me for 10:12 when that lemon looked like an Ultra Ball.

Saw the thumbnail, was expecting Trevor, was not disappointed, but still miss Trevor...
Great episode! Love learning how to make seemingly complicated things like cocktails but easier.
Also, that ad read with the Factor box, 🤣😂
I keep focusing on the toast tablet mounted to the wall. LOL and it’s been 4 years since I installed a toast system at a customer lol
Whats a toast tablet? I assume its the thing being Brian but what does it do?
@@asdrugrohl Toast is a restaurant Point Of Sale (POS) and table management system
Yes it’s the Bars POS system. I used to install this system at one of my old customers. (Being in IT for 20+ years I notice goofy shit like that)

Still haven't gotten over Jason being on zee wagon.
Edit: Good for you man.

Still missing it...

I haven't drank alcohol in two years. Can't afford it.
Would love to try those drinks.
Thanks for the idea
I don’t even mess with meal plans and I consider myself a foodie but those factor meals are actually gas, so good for what they are
Since cardamom smells like christmas to me, cardamom bitters is basically liquid christmas.
Around 9:30 - there's a song in the background - can someone tell me what that is?
That BTTF reference, solid.
Messing up with and alcohol recipe, is that possible?
When she started talking all I could think about is a Rob Roy
Thanks for the videos
Haven't been this early in a looooong time

No, that's silly.

Where's Trevor?!
I dont even know what this channel is about anymore....
It's a shame she's so uncomfortable, really throws off the video.
