BYD Seagull is being sold very well in Uruguay, about 400 units this year. Price US $24.000, which makes it the best value EV in this country.
It is slso being sold in Costa Rica, Mexico, Brazil etc .
In fact, Byd Seagull is sold also outside China. They sold more than 3k units in April in Brazil. The name used is Dolphin mini.
I like that BYD has so many models, it caters to diverse demands, preferences and price points across Asia and Latin America
Same here in Mexico
I found a couple of articles claiming Seagull will be in Italy and UK from 2025 on, at around €12k
i join a group of facebook about byd in brasil and see all the people that bought it very happy and i are very happy for them, no more "nafta" ni nada xd here in argentina i bet they are making lobby to dont let BYD or any other China NEV enter argentina.
@@AndrejMejac 12k is a amazing price, in brasil is like 15k i think, in China is 8,5k , many people tell that they charge free at shoppings, at work, at clubs.. also the solar panels are lowering prices.
I live in Ireland and I can see more and more byd evs on the road.
Same here in Australia.
same in budapest hungary
Same here in Nepal
I live in the UK and haven't seen one BYD. I thought that I saw an Atto 3 but it turned out to be a Hyundai.
However, I always see a Tesla when I go out. MG4s are popular but they are easy to spot because of the shape and colour. I have seen a few ID.3s and 3 ID.Buzzes which is remarkably considering that they haven't been out very long, but they are easy to spot as well.
A BYD dealership should be opening soon where I live and hopefully I should see some BYDs soon.
@@catherinegrimes2308 in fairness UK prices are rediculous and I heard some people are saying insurance cost too expensive for byd.
Brought BYD last month in Germany, excellent car!! Highly recommended:)
Just curious what model you would prefer
BYD DOLPHIN MINI, aka SEAGULL ,is selling very well in Mexico, we have to versions from 19k to 21k usd
But wait, the EV antis have been saying EV sales are collapsing as no one wants them, yet BYD increases sales at a staggering pace.
They don't care of environment and they hate China saving the humanity. They want to live for today driving gas guzzlers.
They sell into new price category. I think it takes few years to fill.

3 offices Guayaquil, Quito and Manta. I bought a Seagull 300 km autonomy, in $19k. I strongly recommend this city car. No problem after 3600 km in 2 months

BYD Seagull is being sold in Chile and Costa Rica too. In Costa Rica we have a bunch of BYD models to pick from; the Seagull, Dolphin, S1 Pro, Yuan Plus, Song Plus, Seal, Han EV, Tang EV, T3... the Seagull is being sold for US$20k
This is globally important news. Thank you for letting us know.
Wrong Seagull is sold in Brasil, with another name (dolphin mini)
UBS Research analysts recently tore down BYD Seal, and shared their insights into BYD’s tech and cost leadership in electric vehicles.
“Compared with mass EVs from legacy OEMs, BYD Seal is the better and much cheaper car, thanks to high vertical integration that leverages BYD's cost lead in battery cells, vehicle integration, powertrain and electronics modules. Connectivity and advanced driver assistance systems are also state of the art,” wrote UBS Investment Bank.
In fact, Chery is the automobile manufacturer that exports the most in China.
Chery exported 89,377 vehicles in April 2024.
Unlike BYD, Chery not only produces EVs, but also produces ICE vehicles (which are exported to Russia and other countries in large quantities).
half of GM is owned by china and it operates through SAIC in china. and the vast majority of its EV sales are the wuling mini. the thing is a golf cart, its not even a real car. saying GM sells EVs in china through SAIC is really stretching the truth. the thing starts at like 1500 dollars.

I thought MG is the best seller EV in UK?
BYD Amazing...
BYD"s PHEV strategy is very smart. It happens to be where a large part of the market is at the moment, and sales to that part of the market can fund its growth and build its brand while the transition to pure BEV gradually occurs.
NIO sales rose 136% year over year
That's my favorite brand, I was sad with the struggle they went through
More BYD the better.
Break Your Dreams.
I own BYD Song Plus fully EV since July, 2023. For last 10 months of ownership I run 24k kilometers in Tashkent, plus outside for weekends. For me this mileage is a lot, but I and my wife particularly love experience of driving this EV. In most cases I use ACC (adaptive cruise control) on, while driving, and it help a lot. It keeps distance, control line, and for me personally I feel better with it.
I'm a french owner of a Han since november 2023, great car, I love it!
Who knew that if a car company produced an affordable car, they it would actually sell! Well, except for everybody!
On other news, Tesla sales in Aus crash by 43.5% in April!
Well maybe they'll get their heads out of their butts and start bringing some new cars to market.
BS
@DeRhamme it's a fact. Like it or not. Toyota's Australian sales have gone ballistic. April EV sales down 23 percent. Hybrid sales increased 33 percent. 😅😅
@@robertfonovic3551 Your fact is BS
@@robertfonovic3551 LOL
PHEVs are practical for many countries because of lack of charging infrastructure and remove the anxiety from the owners. It has the benefits of both sides.
Affordability is the key. Hopefully this will help reduce smog in big cities and combat climate crisis.
Sam can't cope with BYD producing so many plug in hybrids... oh dear.
Plug in hybrids are actually also considered environmentally friendly vehicles when compared to pure ICEs, and in fact HEV/PHEV are the most suitable cars in most countries/regions as a transition to full EVs
Plug ins. A sop to those who can’t change. An automotive nicotine patch.😂😂
BYD always breaks your prediction 😂. Time shows you that BYD is the best EV company in the world. Tesla is getting behind.
I disagree. But it is true they have caught up to Tesla. These two EVs are way ahead of everyone else.
PHEVs are the way to go if you need distance with no fear of running out of energy. Being able to fill up with gasoline in 10 mins. or less is a large consideration for car folks. I have a 2023 Lexus ES300h and she gets 42+ MPG in and around town and about 40+ on road trips. It is the bridge to EVs and as you know, CATL and BYD have partnered up with others to perfect solid-state battery technology, which will be needed to increase EV range and allay range anxiety for owners.
PS - I own a considerable amount of BYDDF stock, so I have followed BYD for about three years and believe they will be very successful. They are building plants worldwide and I believe, soon in Mexico.
I like the Yangwang running on only 3 wheels at 7:29 - imagine how fast it goes on with 4 wheels
BYD Chazor is the Ocean series sister car to the Dynasty series BYD Qin. A little more sporty styling, but mostly the same under the skin. It is being introduced as the BYD King is South and Central America and might be one of the vehicles made in their Brazil factory.
The BYD Seagull is also being exported and sold as the Dolphin Mini in LATAM. BYD has also stated that the Seagull is coming to Europe, but not in its current iteration.
What will be interesting for export markets is if BYD continues to produce updates of existing models (many of which are less than 3 years old) for some markets while it introduces the next generation in China. For example, the Song Plus/Seal U/Sealion 6 PHEV (introduced in 2021, refreshed last year) is scheduled to have the next generation introduced in China (on the 5th generaton DMi platform) this summer, while just being introduced in some export markets. Will BYD keep making the "old" model for export/developing markets, similar to how Golf 4 and B13 Sentra/Tsuru kept being produced? Given BYD's ~3 year product cycles, they would still be newer than most cars on the global market, even if they are a generation behind China.
Maybe because of the tight competition demands there
Main stream buyers prefer PHEV as they are low risk takers. Another reason is charging infrastructure is far from perfection. Unless you can install a home charger, pure BEV is not the first choice for most buyers. PHEV is the right choice before charging netwrok ready.
That's right bro, Plug in hybrids are actually also considered environmentally friendly vehicles when compared to pure ICEs, and actually HEV/PHEV are the most suitable cars in most countries/regions as a transition before moving to full EVs.
If public charging network goes ahead of home chargers, BEV is the better choice.
This is the case in some Chinese cities: the government invested public charging networks, while many people living in apartments (usually built in 2000s or earlier with insufficient car parks) have to park there car wherever they can.
But the prerequisite is not likely to happen in anywhere except China and a few highly-developed tiny countries (e.g. Singapore).
Can't wait to buy ev.
I live in europe and coincidentally the exact same day this was uploaded i saw a BYD car for the first time, insane coincidence. Its going to be interesting to see if they can really tap into the european market, despite not being a known brand among european consumers.
I have seen BYD in India
Cheers mate
One percent of westerners know this. Thankyou.
I am from China,I watched a video today of a Brazilian Uber blogger who ran nearly 400 kilometers with a BYD electric car and earned $140 and spent $6 a day on electricity.BYD taxis in Shenzhen city have traveled 0.9-1 million kilometers
The seagull is in Uruguay also
I keep moaning on about this but BYD cars are very expensive in the UK so are not going to make much of an impact
People downplayed and laughed at cars made in Japan and then South Korea, saying they were cheap crap too. And they were at first but they focused on quality and improved and are now generally accepted. There will be tariffs though. But people like cheap stuff and will put political pressure on the government to lower tariffs somewhat. China is communist but also directed, focused, and supported capitalism. They saw EVs as a way to break into the auto market and dominate it the same way they took over and dominated the solar panels market. Actually, China dominates the auto parts business already like most manufactured products. Americans need Tesla to survive and prosper.
Average price of a Toyota in Europe is 30k euros, average price of Chinese EV in Europe is 50k euros
Japaneses brands are all cheap, and will always be cheap.
Don't think that BYD can't learn
BYD have come so far with the EVs so quickly, build quality and engineering is now in front of the big legacy brands. Renault, VAG have just given up. Tesla has to produce in China to gain build quality and partnership in for lithium iron batteries, and higher density for higher range now.

Good Bye UAW ! Hello affordable, reliable BYD EV's.

In China, competition is very fierce and there are several brands that are Byd's tough rivals
A team relegated from the premium league can still dominate the second-tier league.

How much petrol/electricity do hybrids typically expend?
The most economical is between 4Liter/100 Km - 5Liter/100Km, and the PHEV from BYD might be even more economical

It's not surprising. China is an amazing country. In addition to having a glorious history of 5,000 years, it is also a five-star country. Just look at their national flag. There are five stars on it.
In Q1 Tesla was 10th biggest car brand in Finland with 2.1% market share and Tesla has apparently halved its sales there (vs 2023). BYD is not selling even close to that. Volvo sales have skytocketed and is probably the biggest EV brand in Q1 2024 before VW.

What? Maths is obviously not your strong suit. if you sell 5 cars overseas one year and 95 domestically 5% are overseas sales, if you then sell 8 cars overseas and 42 domestically that's 16% - you can't then say overseas sales have increased 220% because they went from 5% to 16%, that's not how that works - BYDs EV sales were down over 30% in Q1 2024, the majority of which was domestic.
BYD has too many different models, that's not healthy. Tesla has 4 models (S3XY) + cybertruck. Rather than building cars, BYD should resell to oEMs their new e-Platform 4.0, their hybrids are only a short term solution, and focus on battery production and improvement. They currently risk to spread to thin instead of developing a strong ecosystem. They could OEM their e-platform 4.0 to all car manufacturers who are stayng behind (Toyota, Honda, GM, Ford, Peugeot, Fiat, BMW to name a few).
The S and the X are as good as dead. 2023 sales of those 2 models are abysmal.

How do BYD EV cope with cold weather and how does it affect the battery.
Also, how do these vehicles keep their value if next generation is always much better?
I think each car variant produced has its own advantages and disadvantages, so if new variants appear frequently it means that the number of each variant is limited, and something that is limited in quantity means its value will not go down easily, that's logic.
Based on recent numbers, BYD models showed the highest resale value amongst NEV's in China, occupying the top spot and 8 of the top 10. BYD posted a chart on Weibo on April 10th, for reference.
BYD already calculated the additional costs coming from failing PHEVs.
BYD's goal is: to convince more people faster that BEVs are the best solution.
On short sight PHEVs seem like a nightmare...but on the long run this leads to BYD securing a bigger part of the market for itself.
The market response of PHEV is very good.
Even in China, which has the most complete charging facilities, the sales of PHEV are increasing rapidly, which is faster than pure EV.
BEV vs PHEV argument is false dichotomy, its buyers who decide which to buy, not the seller, and the limitations are charging infrastructure, not the car.
It's ultimately not within carmakers power to build power plants and charging infrastructure in dozens of countries.
Does BYD still sell ICE cars, too?
BYD still produce PHEV.
In April 2024, BYD pure EV sold 134,465 vehicles and PHEV sold 177,583 vehicles.
BYD sells affordable , decent quality cars. Compared with overpriced , cheaply made Tesla. Even Tesla uses BYD batteries.
Looking at the comments, I think the BYD marketing team are out in force.
A lot of buyers, if they had to choose between a BEV or ICE, they'd go with ICE. So a hybrid for them at least reduces ⛽ consumption. I couldn't convince a family member to buy Tesla, he owns a house & lives in California. (Charging is not an issue) Reality at this point.
