I think others would be also interested in making a video in which you could explain in detail each function/tab of the asset editor. I havent found a tutorial that would nicely explain all that. I know you would do great job, because all your other tutorials are the most usueful and easy to understand out there. Big Thank You!!!

You are amazing! Your videos are the only thing understandable for me as a person not ever touched that kind of programs before.. not having any idea of design and photography.. but every single video tutorial that you made helped me create something amazing for my assignment 💕
hey J, you have the best vray tut out there right now! I really want to see a course on how to use the square light / how to use it as a light source to illuminate object like in the photo studio.
Hopefully I'll get to some photo studio type tutorials - there's a LOT of content to cover with Vray - I could almost start a whole new channel just dedicated to rendering...Thanks!
TheSketchUpEssentials I like your short video approach, I think just a concept how the square light panel to simulate the photo studio square light panel will be enough. Thank J!
Wish to have your videos a few years back when I was starting with vray and SketchUp. After years still, have trouble to make perfect render studio for my wardrobes (making render for every my customer) . Render need to have perfect colours (white balance) , have a transparent background to save toner when printing but still wardrobes with mirror need to have a room reflection. For now, I'm using a studio with three lights and invisible hdri map as background (only on reflection) , second render with material id and add reflection in post... The problem is that the reflection is never the same size what should be in real life or stretched. Maybe you should make a video about it, most of the tutorials on the internet showing only how to make studio but the products never have a mirror, and another about white balance. Anyway thank you for your hard work , I known how much time you need to spend to learn vray and make good video about it. Regards
I'll see what I can do - I'm trying to go slow and provide very step by step instruction - I feel like a lot of the tutorials online just dive in to advanced concepts, so hopefully I'm filling a gap. Thanks for watching!
Definitely more coming - I'm going to be moving all my future rendering tutorials over to a Rendering Focused Channel - th-cam.com/users/therenderingessentials - Make sure to subscribe there for more Vray Tutorials!
Hallo Justin,Edwin here from Nairobi. Thank you for the good videos you put out there. I am learning how to use v-ray but i find it so complex (has a lot of things to look at) but thanks to your good teaching skills, One question why do materials turn black when you load v-ray materials into them you were to explain that in this clip but you I guess you forgot, you said this at 10:28. I would like you just to do a video on the v-ray menu list explain what each thing and its function for example. turbidity, bumping, texsky and how and when to use it and so on and so forth that would give many of us an idea of how to go around v-ray, thank you very much. Awaiting for that video.
great video, maybe matching a realistic cityscape with sketchup and ray for a kind of hyperrealism postproduced in photoshop would be great! it's a challenge but is great! thanks!
Hello everyone. İ need some help, when i open asset editor i cant see anything on preview Window. Just blank. Can anyone help me? İ looked for a solution on web but couldnt find anything useful.
Very valuable stuff. Really great! I'm noticing that you can't apply quick material settings to Sketchup materials in Vray Next. Or at least I haven't seen a way to do it yet. I just downloaded it so I'm still fumbling around. If you know how to do that simply, I'd love you to point me in the right direction.
Hi! I am kind of new to Vray. I need to create a material for a wood log coffee table and have no idea how to do it. It is a single piece of wood cut out from a tree with live edges. I tried applying the material but it repeats and should be a one image only. Can you help me out on what are the steps to do it? (i know how to create materials for regular surfaces just not for this unique ones. Thanks so much!!
Thanks for your videos. If you ask me what would I like to see, then it's how to apply a map to reflection glossines. To be more specific- I want to make a wood material, which is covered with some paint, but the grain is still visible. And I wanted to make thinner grains to be more glossy than the wider grain. In short - how to make painted wood with visible grain? Sorry for my english and thanks again for your help.
Interesting - I'll have to do some research on this condition - I'm sure you can achieve it. I wonder if you could do it using some kind of bump map...Thanks!
Hi Justin. Thank you for every tutorial you make. I think everyone does (exept those who give deslike :D). I really appreciate your work and I have learned a lot of things from you. I have a question. While I was trying to select a color (using eyedropper tool) of an object in my model (vase) and apply a glass material to it, I found out, it applies it to every object, which has the same color. What do I have to do in order to separate the objects with same texture, color or material? My second question is, how can I find the object in my model using my list of materials? Thank you Justin
Are they in a group? If you have a group of objects and you apply a material to the outside of the group, that will get applied to every object in the group. I don't understand the second question and what you're trying to achieve there
Hellow Sir I hope you will be fine and good Sir, I. Have a problem in my sketchup v ray preview when i click on the preview option. It appears like a flat base and not in the rounded shape please help me Oh! I am using sketchup 2015 and vray 2.0 because my university hardly recommended me this
please any help on how to use the material editor, it look like my material editor is not functioning, its opens blank dialog box anytime i try opening it. thanks
@@Thesketchupessentials Sorry I didn't catch up, I don't think it is Vray Next, its just shown "V-Ray for SketchUp 4.10.03" , and no where can find "Quick setting"or "Material List" button in there.
Thanks for the video, really helpful! It doesn't work the same way in mine though. When I select the color from an object, it doesn't reveal in vray material list. So I never know what material is already applied to any object. Why is that? Thanks :-)
Thank you for the response. It's Vray 4 and Sketchup 2019. When using the dropper on an object, it literally only picks up the color, even the color of the interface panels, as if I'm using photoshop picking up color from an image. When I select an object, nothing shows on the material list (both vray and sketchup). I never know which material I used for an object...
