I've never seen an audience get so hyped over fart boost jumps
@@Fopenplop lmfao
Ikr
You should watch some Smash Bros tournaments, keep an eye out for Wario matches lol
I've never seen fart boost jumps.
These are the same people who screamed "ORB!" for 7 days straight... It was me... I'm those people
Loudest GDQ audience i've ever seen
Heard
Don't you mean heard?
Extra large crowd
The one for Resident Evil 2 was wild. At every in-game swear word, they would all scream to cover it up, and there were multiple instances of people shouting jokes. It was amazing.
that's the first time the audience at GDQ got hyped over a game lmfao
As someone who played this game as a child I’m happy to learn that this wasn’t some deep seated fever dream from when I was 5.
Same
Fr this game was actually so good
Watching this speedrun is just like watching that video of a dog doing an agility course but replaced with Shrek.
Apt fucking description my guy
I actually like the lighting work in this game. Some underpaid dev busted his ass to get that shit looking sharp. Still looks good to me, thanks to the artstyle.
Ikr
Not only that but all of the mechanics of player control look pretty tight and satisfying. No aspect of this game was skimped out on. It's funny to say but it's almost AAA quality.
Fun fact: Shrek on xbox was the first game to ever use deferred shading.
This was one of the first games to ever used deferred rendering. Consoles had it first.
The original Shrek Xbox used deferred shading. It was written in London, ON. DICE engineers then later took the Xbox codebase and ported the engine to GameCube. They did a good job!
I love that anytime anything is thrown a few guys in the audience yell "YEET"
This was at 2AM PST by the way, this run was absolutely mental for the time it took place.
Just like Casino hype
Worth staying up for.
this run took place in minnesota, which runs on CST
2AM is when i start waking up
implying gamers have normal sleep schedules lol
I am really impressed at the graphics of this game.
It came out in 2002 and has real-time shadows and what looks like a pretty nice trick simulating bump-mapping on shrek's model.
Yeah it's wild how the production value on Shrek games is so far above what you'd expect. Like for example the OG Xbox game was of the first games that ever implemented deferred lighting, years before unreal engine made it mainstream
I think it was an Xbox launch title, they really wanted to show off 😀
hi. burp-mapping. goodbye
It was a launch title for the Xbox for that reason iirc. It was fantastic for the time and even with it being a movie license it could still be shown off as a demonstration of a console's power.
(The GC version came later and was able to utilize most of the graphical tricks the same way, this definitely didn't help out Xbox's efforts to show it as "something that only Xbox can do")
Banjo Tooie in 2002 has some crappy N64 real-time shadows. But this is impressive!
Nothing warms my heart like a speedrunner dryly explaining fart boost jumps.
fun fact: this was going to be a completely different fantasy platformer until the last minutes and then it became a Shrek tie-in. Also, all of the fairytale creatures/non-original shrek characters were designed by Todd McFarlane

Your profile picture makes this sound terrified.
Or in awe. The world will never know.
I thought I left this comment for a second
I love how the runner is actually trying to explain the speed tech in this. But the rest of us are just watching the screen on awe and laughter.
I absolutely love the atmosphere of the entire run, the laid back attitude of the runner and the couch, the crowd being really into the entire run. Everything just feels so much like a connected community more than a random dude showing a game to a bunch of people and I love it. I wish a lot more runs were like this.
What an absolute game this is. Glad I could see it live
Used to play this game for hours, only unlocked 4 levels
Absolute game
LITERALLY A GAME
this is Absolute literally a game it is
This is truly the greatest piece of Shrek media that has ever been creater
Robert Arden AC Shrek Retold would like to have a word with you
It actually is.
The FGC would fire back with Shrek Super Slam. Top Tier fighting game right there
For a run that happened at 3am the crowd was real lively.
...this is the Super Wario World we'll never get, everybody. Fart Boost Jumping, punching, throwing things...
For those wondering, the audience does sing the entirety of All Star. But it was before the start of this run (before the video begins), and can be seen on the second half of the We Love Katamari run that preceded this one.
I like that you can hear a portion of the audience sometimes saying "yeet" whenever Shrek kicks/throws something away.
21:13 Congratulations, you are being rescued.
Please, do not resist.
This game is a perfect example of a good speed run. Advanced, fast, and visually engaging movement coupled with clever routing and skips, all without having to abuse nearly any bugs.
Evildandalo what are you saying? There’s so many bugs in Shrek’s Swamp
That part at the end always gets me. Why do people have such a problem with that?
@@louiesalmon8362 They like speedruns that "look" like you're just playing the game super darn well.
Skips and elaborate wall jumps "look" like intended mechanics and could pass for normal gameplay.
Stuff like clipping through barriers with slow vibrations and going out of bounds don't "look" like normal gameplay.
It's purely a visual thing I'd guess?
I think bugs are fun, though. Just breaking a game and clipping out of walls and stuff for speedruns is advanced, fast, and visually engaging, and they make some clever routing and skips.
But this game *does* have a game-breaking bug, that goes from the first level to the last. That's why this category is called No Levels Early.
The first 2 minutes are just pure comedy
It's all pure comedy
Should've kept watching, the whole thing is hilarious
Why am I watching this, and why is it so beautiful?
You'll never catch me now Farquad,Non when I shift in to MAXIMUM OGRE-DRIVE!!
People took the time to make this game and then someone took the time to learn how to speedrun it. Simply incredible.
LOLOLOL at 3:20 with everyone doing the walk in the background
I've just stayed up all night and honestly finding this video feels like a reward

Shrek Extra Large by Ubisoft
*dramatic camera pan*
@@paulx3274 well he's not missing out on anything...
I love the fact that this game was developed by DICE 😄
I didn't know they ported Celeste to the GameCube.
Fart jumps, wall jumps, quests. Wow.
Holy... fart glitching.
Truly one of the best speedrun games.
I didn't believe this was best run of sdgq 2019. Now I believe.
Best quote was:'I'm gonna go and fart on this cow. Aaaannd that will end the level.'
Pretty good looking game, except Shrek seems to have been somehow animated in SFM two years before the Source engine existed.
Dude this game is on a GameCube
@@MyHandleIsAplaceholder r/woooosh
This game is obviously way ahead of its time.
"He was trying to escape, but you liberated him."
I clicked on this vid because I remembered "Isn't this the game where shrek is sonic?"
Imagine being a court jester and Shrek just comes charging at you full speed and picks you up
Real treasure was the fart boost jumps we made along the way.
"As you can see i fart boost jump here".
Deadpan breaks down the mechanics.
celeste WHO
titanfall 2 WHO
nah man, Shrek extra large is where it’s at
This was a fun run start to finish.
*fart to finish
Shrek Extra Large Rehydrated Deluxe Edition
22:59 Thats some real life advice!
This is the greatest speedrun I've seen since Mort the Chicken
I come back here when I'm having a rough time. It always makes me smile
So disappointed that the all-star karaoke wasn't included in the video
Why can’t every crowd be like that? Many speed runners deserve that kinda feedback as long as they don’t consider it annoying
Damn, those wall jumps techniques, it's like Shrek meets Ninja Gaiden.
I remember playing this game as a child and always assumed it was a fever dream because I've never seen gameplay of it until today.
this is the most impressive meme run.
This guy is really good at commentary. Very easy going and easy to listen to.
I deadass thought this was a fan made Shrek game... there’s no way 💀
🤣
I wish this has a fixed camera replay mode. The terror of Shrek randomly sprinting through at unbelievable speeds, carrying and throwing things...
The audience yeeting in synchrony... Beautiful
"dedicated fart button" oh man this is already classic
one of my top 3 favorite runs of SGDQ 2019...and im not even kidding
I came here for memes, I got art.
One of the best GDQ speedruns, a great mix of memes, excitement, fast gameplay and technicality.
I love this run
yep, that's me
Broke: Rocket jumps
Woke: Fart boost jumps
Seeing shrek walljump is pretty cool
Now this is the true definition of speedrun.
I played this game when I was a kid but didn't have a memory card so I didnt get far into the game and had to keep starting again every time I played, thank you for giving me a quick walkthrough
This game actually looks amazingly well made and fun.
Hope it gets more popular after this, and that the devs get some love! :D
This the greatest speedrun ever!
there was so much yeet for sure
Frame perfect fart boost. One of the best GDQ runs ever.
I had the best time of my life watching this run
This is my favorite speedrun ever
*didnt see that coming*
The perfect speedrun doesn't exis--
Donkey was too busy slaying a dragon to appear in the game
Has to be the greatest audience for this kind of event ever. I woulda been laughing my balls off the whole time.
This run have the same energy as the actual movies
Everyone's talking about the game, and it is surprisingly impressive both as a cheap licensed Shrek title and a speedrun, but not too many people are mentioning the incredibly tight and practiced running on display here. If these precise movements were half as hard as they looked, then I'm even more impressed, because they also look smooth and effortless.
This is amazing!!
When everyone continued laughing over the ending with Merlin, I was like “ooh.. didn’t see that coming”
How fast he runs is hilarious
The jumping looks like Mario 64 speedrun
YEET
Yeet.
This is my favorite speedrun 🤣
Spike having a time on the couch made me smile.
Where has this game been all my life...
i'm so proud of this community
Best speedrun ever
Well, it's canon in my heart
Now this is entertainment!
I did not know that I needed this, but now that I have it...
I want to see a speedrun of Shrek 2.
Any game with fart boosting mechanics has to be a good speedrun
the run we didnt know we needed
WHY DIDNT THEY CALL IT SHREXTRA LARGE, IM PISSED
This was hysterical. Hope they include this game in GQD next time
this is legendary
“This has its own dedicated fart button” is one of the funniest sentences I’ve heard at a GDQ lmao
this guy's faster than sonic
This audience is amazing they are so hyped about everything ! 😂
I never thought I needed something that I didn’t know I needed
They missed a huge chance to call this Shrekstra Large.
i just... i love the gaming community man
this guy is a beast.
The only speedrun that matters
I wonder how many people are going to go out and buy this game just because of this speed run
