    It was so much fun to speedrun this game, and the speedrun community has been so welcoming! Thanks to SGDQ for the opportunity, the awesome couch, and I hope you guys enjoy the video.

      How is this even humanly possible? I tried focusing on what blocks come next and the playfield, and before i had moved my eyes you placed up to 2 blocks already. I can't get how this is even remotely possible. This is ultra instinct to me.

      Real sharp to spot 2 guys interested enough to be asking questions about the game, and lucky they were polite and ready to ask questions without becoming self-conscious about being front and center on stream. I know if I was one of the random guys on the couch and a donation said "fantastic couch" I'd catch a case of the vapors.

    this run is what made me get tetris effect connected when it came out since i don't have a ps4. i know a lot of the run's fun comes from the audience having fun and the couch having fun and everyone having fun together. however that happiness, that community, is something that is somehow still in the game when i'm playing through an anxiety attack at three in the morning. this run gave me one of my best coping mechanisms and biggest and most favorite stims (especially the da vinci level and the astronaut level) so thanks guys for showing this game off cos it has changed my life.

    Dang, great job on the SGDQ run of Tetris Effect, Blink! It was a blast seeing the initial idea of running TE at a GDQ event, and the practice leading up to SGDQ with the gameplay sessions and script writing ideas were also fun to watch. The Tetris Effect run definitely showed off Guideline Tetris in a spectacular fashion, and I'd be glad for larger variety of Tetris and other related puzzle games to be present in future GDQ events. Anyway, fantastic run Blink with the same skill I've always been seeing on streams and in videos, as this was the one run at SGDQ that I was most excited for that clearly delivered on the impressive techniques.

      Some of the stages are lifted directly from Child of Eden - both the windmill section and red/blue glowing orb sections are from the Passion stage, and all the aquarium-style ones are very reminiscent of Evolution. Hell, the whole game being split into "areas" is also taken from Rez, which does the same thing. Kind of disappointing to not have the couch bring up anything about Child of Eden or Rez when there is so much either taken directly from or inspired by those games...

      @eudaimonistic 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are lots of different ways to play Tetris! Classic NEStris has a few noticeable differences compared to what Tetris players would consider to be Modern Tetris, or Guideline Tetris. While I'm sure Blink has played NEStris before, he seems to prefer platforms like TetriNET and Puyo Puyo Tetris and Tetris99, which have a lot more to offer for multiplayer Tetris overall.

    • @ianoliver12
      @ianoliver12 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      NES Tetris is a completely different beast from Guideline Tetris. Generally, guideline gives you pieces you can work with better, you can move and spin around your pieces even after it lands for a bit, the Super Rotation System allows for some techniques like T-spins for extra points, and you can use hold to save a piece you need to complete a setup later, or just to get a piece you can't use out of the way.
      NES Tetris has a completely randomized piece set, so you can go 20+ pieces without getting an I piece for a Tetris. There's no holding. The Nintendo Rotation System doesn't allow for much flexibility. Your pieces are locked in place basically as soon as they hit the ground. To put it short, NES Tetris is much more difficult, and a large departure from Guideline.
      TL;DR: NES Tetris and Guideline Tetris are practically different games, with so many mechanics different between them.

      Tool-Assisted Speedrun: it means someone programs the controller inputs synced to the game, so on playback it looks like some superhuman is playing the game perfectly. This guy plays so fast it looks like watching a robot play.

    • @flawlessvictory3955
      @flawlessvictory3955 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tool Assisted Speedrun/ Superplay. Basically means that a player can use tools to make precise inputs and load save states in case they make an error, making humanely impossible things possible via machine playback.

    Tetris only saves the most time due to it clearing 4 lines at once, saving 4 times as much time as clearing 4 single lines.
    The 6-3 is both for easy stacking, (making the LOJ box and then throwing all the zigzag pieces together) and easily setting up for t spins, which deals bonus damage in multiplayer (has no effect here)
    You see Blink almost randomly building the right side tetris stack instead of 6-3 (6 - 3 -> 9 - 0) because of the high gravity forcing him to only slide his pieces, instead of the usual flying over.
    Tetris Flow is a mechanic that lowers gravity and brings all your cleared lines to the bottom, and gives you a word depending on how many lines you clear. (Like perfectris and ultimatris)
