    • @xenonram
      @xenonram 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yup, hard blow molded/inaction molded cases are far superior. I have ONE tool in a bag, the Milwaukee M12 impact and hammer drill, and the bag is always getting sawdust caught inside it, the tool I want is at the bottom, it doesn't offer very much protection, and I can't immediately see if everything is present. And that's a very small bag. I couldn't imagine a larger one. With a plastic case, I can dump out the saw dust, blow it out with air, or spray it out with a house. The tools all have their place and I know everything is where it should be. All the tools are easily accessible. And the plastic cases are near indestructible.

    YES! I just used the Gen one last week. Where as I loved it for not carrying cords or hoses. The body was a lot larger, the shoe was huge and had the 45 deg stop on the left side. which made it akward putting up crown on my right side. I had to hold it backwards and pull with my pinky. From the looks of it is go with gen 2, good video! Thanks

    I shopped around and found a deal on a Packout case, and then bought that and the bare tool. Then I found the M18 impact driver kit that I needed, which came with two batteries and a charger and a hard case. Took a few days but it was worth the time to save some money and get exactly what I wanted. Very happy with both tools.

    I bought one because I did all of the flooring in my house, new molding and such. This thing was super easy to use and quite frankly overkill if you don't have a large project or series of them. I used this on so many more things than I thought. I redid a bunch of furniture and really liked it to stage before I set up heftier hardware.

    So we finally have a gen 2 brad, along w/ the 15, 16, gauges. Will be getting the framing nailers....but I still can’t get rid of my compressor b/c of siding/roofing nailers, & 23g pin nailer(yes know there’s 2 brands out). Would be slick if Milwaukee released an M18 version of these tools in the future. Once they do, I will actually be 100% cordless on the jobsite. Never imagined a day when this “could” be possible when started out in the trades. What a time we are living in....exciting along w/ future possibilities 😁

      Instead of a compressor, now you're bringing a generator to charge batteries.

    • @Southernboy302
      @Southernboy302 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@IncogSkbb021 A lot of newer trucks have inverters built right into them and obviously having more than one battery is ideal, but if I had someone working on my house I wouldn't care if they charged their batteries while working. I get that could be an issue when it comes to new construction without an utility hook up tho. Either way it's still way less bs than having to deal with pneumatic hoses and time wasted on clean up.

    First let me say, love watching your videos, great information and keep them coming. I Just purchased this nailer as a bare tool 👍💪🏼 all the way, so glad I waited for the Gen II. Consistent power and nail depth control with every trigger pull. I did have a nail jam, was very easily and quickly removed. Tool is fairly lite and very easy to use. Great site view on the tip and I was also impressed that it came with two additional nail tips that also store on the tool, very cool! I ran it with a 3.0 compact all day and only used 1bar. I definitely like the fact that it will stand when the battery is in and also a huge fan of the tool-belt hook. I highly recommend this tool if you do finish carpentry and your looking to start leaving the compressor and hoses at home.

    I have this gun and I love it. I only use the hard tip though cause the soft tip is too soft and it will roll out of the way a little bit and allow the striker to come in closer to the material and change your depth setting. I do use the multi shot quite a bit for putting in filler pieces where I need them and it works really well just bouncing the gun, its not as fast as a pneumatic but the time you save just grabbing the gun, nails and a battery makes up for that. Ive only had 1 jam in the year and a half that owned mine and it was an issue with a nail and not the gun. Other than that, money well spent for me. Its paid for itself 3 times over. I'm waiting for a gen2 15 gauge and the new 23 gauge. Once I have those I wont need a compressor for most of my everyday work. I only have a siding gun and framing nailer that I still use air for and if I'm breaking those out on a job its because I have a lot of nails to drive and a battery framing gun just isnt going to cut it.

    Great review, Vince~! For years, I've been using the 16 & 18 gauge Porter Cable nailers that came with my compressor kit combo. I just came home with a pack of 1 1/2" brads for my 18g, only to see that the max size for it is 1 1/4". Never realized this. So, now that I'm on the Milwaukee battery platform, I'll be running down out to grab a Gen 2, which also lets me flex up to 2 1/8" brads.

    I had a V1 a while back. Switched to an older flywheel type bostitch 18g. It feels closest to all my bostitch pneumatics. What I didn’t like about V1 Milwaukee, and of hitachi (same mechanism) was the recoil back into you’d hand. It gets old after a while. Besides I’m fine with ramp up time as I don’t shoot 3 nails per second on finish work anyways.
    How is the recoil of the version 2?

    Porter Cable’s bn200v12 cordless brad nailer from 2003 is the greatest brad nailer nobody’s heard of. It’s a hybrid cordless/pneumatic so if the battery dies you can hook up and air line to it like a regular brad nailer. The battery pack runs a tiny 12v compressor built into the back end of the gun so the front part is the same size as a standard brad nailer. I’ve been using mine all week installing trim and absolutely love the thing.

      I've used dewalt and Milwaukee. Ramp up is definitely a non issue for the Dewalt, it shoots plenty fast. Really same as pneumatic. Nail placement is more accurate than the Milwaukee. I used a gen 1 and that made me go with Dewalt. Pneumatics are way more accurate in nail placement and accessibility in tight spots. Still bat tool does most applications.

      @@stevenfoust3782 The lack of ramp-up on this and the Dewalt is because of how they work. On the Milwaukee, there's a sealed gas cylinder in the front. When you pull the trigger, it's using that pressure to instantly drive the nail, that's why there's no ramp-up time. After the nail is driven, the motor runs to shove the striker/piston back into the cylinder, pressurizing the gas above it, and a catch holds it up, ready to be released for the next shot.
      The Dewalt uses a flywheel, that when the tool is active, is spinning and has energy waiting and ready to drive a nail. From completely off (quiet), to driving a nail, there is a bit of delay though. Not sure if it uses a motion sensor, or if you need to pull the trigger when not on the workpiece to get it going. That's also why it's not affected by temperature, unlike the Milwaukee (gas cylinder pressure isn't as high in the cold), or any of the on-demand pneumatic ones like the Ryobi, Ridgid, etc.

    Does anyone have problems with the milwaukee batteries.
    We used the impactwrench and the batteries started to wobble and after a while they lost contact and now we have to hold tehe battery to use the tool.
    we have been using the
    M18 FHIWF12-0X
    M18 FMTIWF12-0X
    both of the tools are worn out. Problems started after 6 months

    I think a lot of the features on the gen 2 would be great to see in a framing nailer as oppose to a finishing nailer.

      I've spent probably between 10 and 15k worth in the last year and a half and haven't won squat. Did they email you? Or just ship one to you on a surprise basis? I think you should get a shirt for every grand you spend on milwaukee tools. Just sayin'

      It just randomly showed up in the mail. They have some cheap merchandise that they don’t advertise. Can’t remember but it’s something like Milwaukeeswag.com. Be sweet for them to do something for every grand spent but that’d be a pain in the butt to track. Unless you bought all Milwaukee tools from their own website.

    I bought gen 1 and shortly after gen two came out. I wasn’t to thrilled with the gen 1 but Milwaukee actually exchanged mine for the gen 2 I had to pay maybe 35 dollar difference. But I’m very happy with the gen 2 they really worked the kinks out of it from gen 1. Better than pneumatic? Ehhh I’m not sure about that but it’s close. Thanks for the video Vince!

    I recently broke my loooooong addiction to cheap Harbor Freight power tools and made the jump to a Milwaukee M18 combo tool kit I bought at the Home Depot Father's Day sale. I SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS A LONG TIME AGO!! Since then I've purchased a Milwaukee Pack Out and additional tools to fill it. Just bought my 2746-20 brad nailer this morning to do some crown moldings and ship lap. GREAT VIDEO, THANKS BRO!! 👍

    I did have trouble with an Ryobi battery nailer I was using. Did not Barry the nails. And Hart to tap them in since the head is so small. It just convient so you don't have to lug around air compressor and hoses. And then moving the compressor with the work and less noisey.

    I prefer the hard cases, but I will say there are some advantages to the bags. For example, I bought the M18 fuel supersawzall kit and have been able to fit both the kit contents plus my gen 1 sawzall, 7 m18 batteries, and several blades.

      @@VCGConstruction I was thinking about this some and I would prefer that Milwaukee to provide a case option alternative with the contractor bag in their kits. Bosch had this option with their, IDH-0282 impact driver/ wrench kits. At bare minimum sell an aftermarket case for $30, or whatever they typically retail.

      There are bags that you can buy for this purpose, and you can get the one that fits your requirements perfectly. Hard cases helps your shop (or whatever you call the room where you store your tools in your beloved house) organized.
