Did you try the Rybobby version of that gun? I am a Milwaukee fanboy but when I went to purchase it the Milwaukee rep told me to purchase the Ryobi version instead. I gave it a shot and absolutely loved it. I was able to purchase then16 and 18 gauge gun, 2 high capacity 5.0 batteries with charger along with a ton of nails for the same price as the Milwaukee tool only gun. What really sold me was the fact that the rybobby nailer was rated higher and beat the Milwaukee nailer in every test. It sucks because I own a ton of M 18 and M 12 tools and Only those two Ryobi guns which is a hassle to charge something different but I have been very happy with my purchase. Also I am not a homeowner well I am but I am also an industry professional as yourself and these tools get tons of use

"Nobody in their right mind would shoot nails in 'maniac mode' like that..."
Builder-boss to production-trim guy: Here's your trim, 2 5# boxes of nails, and 4 cases of caulk.
Trim guy: But boss I'm only doing a couple rooms.
Boss: Yeah I know....I'd better bring you some more nails and caulk!
Richard's video later: "Welcome back to the channel. Today I'm replacing production-builder installed baseboard, but will need a 4 foot crowbar and 3# sledge hammer to remove the trim they installed in Maniac Mode."
Then shows a removed 8' piece with 182 nails per linear foot.

My 6.5 circ and my nailers have failed and been mailed back to milwaukee after a few months of use. Got them back with a note stating "We'll fix it this one time but don't consider this a warranty issue." Tools worked for another month after being returned and then hit the trash can.

Just advice you want to dial down on the depth set for driving nails, as you see your holes are wide which indicates you nail driver is actually going all the way in the wood, if you dial down on depth you get only nice and square nail holes.

    Hi,
I also used the 20v DeWalt 18g brad nailer and it's great. The only things was the Rev up noise was getting to me working indoors.
I picked up this milwaukee brad nailer 1 week ago and this tools work great. Man it's nice not to hear that rev noise. So i decided to sell my DeWalt 20v 18g brad nailer.

Just got my Gen ll Milwaukee M18 Fuel 18-gauge today, and because a bad review on the Gen l, I was about to take it to Home depot on arrival for a refund and purchase the Ryobi AirStrike 18-gauge cause it did better. The Ryobi combo kit ($279) comes with impact driver and drill, reciprocating saw, circular saw and other tools for the price of this one ($279). But found this and other good reviews for this product and a of the M18 drill gun and impact driver kit that i also bought with two 2.0 batteries, charger, bag and a free 5.0 RedLithium battery for $229. and ultimately decided to keep all of it. I was going to get back around 250 and have more tools for the same price of just the nailer. I put up some molding and Its worth it to me. Thanks for helping me make the right decision, I love it.

No hoses dragging or trying to find power for the compressor... and then you make a cut and your compressor kicks on and the circuit breaker flips because they only ever put one outlet in an entire house for new construction....

Ha! Even after over a year and a half later the opening made me laugh!
The feature that leaves 4 or 5 nails in the gun is called, “Dry Fire Lockout”. It’s to keep from damaging the material by the striker, when no nail would be present to fire.
Richard, I picked up the Milwaukee M18 Fuel Gen 2 18 Gauge Nail Gun about two months ago. All I can say is...WOW! What an awesome nail gun. There’s no comparison between the 18 Gauge Milwaukee nail gun as compared to the Dewalt.

That noise is the ramp up in the dewalt it’s a lot slower with ramp up time
Also it’s referred to as bump fire mode works good for certain applications
And finally they don’t let you shoot the whole rack it’s a safety feature for the tool to prevent dry fires it helps longevity of the tool and protects your investment

Watching my man go from dewalt to Milwaukee, Breaks my heart. Always been a fan of both, carpentry tools I always went dewalt, plumbing and hvac tools Milwaukee has in my experience had better selection, pipe cutters and threaders not to mention their band saws. TTI owns Milwaukee and is based in Hong Kong. Dewalt is owned by the behemoth Stanley black and decker and is based In Connecticut USA. Only reason I tip my hat dewalt

MANIAC MODE 🤣I actually use maniac mode for setting studs while doing small framing jobs without help or pneumatic tools. I also built a closet for customer where he wanted glass blocks installed in the top and I used maniac mode to set them in place. Point being: I never thought I would have a use for maniac mode either but it has been an extremely useful feature and I’m really glad milwaukee added this to these guns.

Put it away and went back to pneumatic. I'd like my guys to use this to cut down on cords and compressors onsite but I cant trust the tool for now.

I have a gen 1 as well and yeah, about 20% of the nails don’t counter sink. It’s a bit of a pain but overall it’s still a decent tool. My use of the tool is fairly low volume. I have also noticed if you have the gun pointed at an angle the nose won’t depress quite right and it won’t fire.

I just finished binge watching Richard's videos. All of them :) So good. But I was wondering if the deal with Milwaukee panned out? I remember watching your "am I selling out" (and no, you're not) video. Anyway, I'm going to go buy some CA glue and activator even though I never really use them for woodworking (titebond, FOR LIFE! LOL) so I can support your channel. You have a knack for presenting things in a way that's very easy to follow. I have zero need to do trim work but I still watched every one of your vids. Thanks for being a great instructor.

  • @AlAmantea

You need to adjust the depth setting on that gun, though. The driver is set too deep. Hence the horizontal hole across the head of the nail. When adjusted properly, the driver should not penetrate the surface, only the head of the nail.

So how much do you still use and like this brad nailer and also I used to have a DeWalt 12" double compound mitersaw(gone now) ,and I loved it but from your experience, is the 10" millwakie with battery a good saw or should I steer clear from any batt powered...knowing that you are one that would rather use corded what would you advise . I would greatly appreciate you opinion expecially that now is black Friday month and I gotta look for a good deal.
