This video makes me miss my Malaysian relatives so much. My mum's 4th uncle family sell nasi lemak there and I they cook something like how this chef cooks at home.
I really wish to visit them soon. I will buy nasi lemak as my brunch today

The Heritage Nasi Lemak is authentic because for 10 cents, it was a most basic breakfast - rice and a protein. But the traditional nasi lemak I grew up with had three variants or some hawkers offered two or three options. One basic option was ikan bilis or ikan kuning. Another choice was omelet or fish (whichever fish they were offering). And the egg was neither a hard boiled egg, or a sunny side egg. or even an egg over easy which is what you might get today. No, the offering was a postage stamp size wafer thin omelet. Probably 1/30th of an egg. What do you expect for 10 cents? :-) And of course, cucumbers. One slice. Often used to "hold" the sambal. So a packet of nasi lemak could offer a sort of "balanced" breakfast - carbo in the form of rice, protein in the fish or the little bit of egg, and fibre (a token) in the slice of cucumber. If only they could find a way to work in your morning caffeine dose into that packet...

His style of nasi lemak, is honestly foreign to me. Partly the only nasi lemak available is the chinese kind.
