This dude is a national treasure.
How many chef in this world are like him who want to cook food that bring tears to people who ate it? I hope that there are more chefs like him.
I am not a chef like you and what I cook is really very simple food but I always wish that my food can heal people hearts in some ways.
Not gonna lie, this made me cry. When he talked about his grandfather, it reminded me of my late grandfather. He used to work in law but he always cooked for me when i visited. His seafood dishes were interesting and his soups were always rich.
Damien reminds me of my grandmother. She cooks peranakan food. And although she suffers from painful physical issues, she cooks crazy dishes for me. She's mad in this way. Nasi ulam is not an easy dish to prepare. Even though it is mostly rice, it includes many ingredients e.g. coconut, prawns, etc. My grandmother often walks to the geylang serai market to buy these things. I dont know how she does this at 80+
