Don't sell your animation style short it may not be "smooth as butter" but your animation style conveys so much emotion and personality in it which is what makes it so funny and interesting to watch I really like it

I played an orc barb one time, not typical though, he was several levels lower than the party and he was the only good character, the rest were terrible neutral or some evil, but they were pansy city folk, and we had been playing with gritty realism, whereas my barb was an actual adventurer who cleared dungeons and donated almost all his gold to charity or sent it back to his tribe who were at war with another orc war band. The DM gave him the benefit of being exalted but in 5e that isn't really do-able so what he had was not being subject to the gritty rules, and the Periapt of Health which was an irremovable belt sewn into his stomach in the image of tiny orcs hugging him, to remind him of the love of his people and his duty to them. Long, long story short he temporarily kills an evil god, and is betrayed and left by the fleeing party to be killed by its angry legion. They make up a tale of how he held off hordes so they could escape, and hide the fact they stole the cursed magic items from the temple of evil, and when they fuck up royally and the evil god reforms in the mainland with the cursed items that formed back into the artifact it was before. The campaign ended with them selling out his village, and it is destroyed by demons as the characters are killed by a small army of Paladins trying to stop the chaos caused by their cowardice.
Nice to hear from other Half Orc bards. Mine was - at least in his background - someone who sold garbage to an unreasonal price to the people of Waterdeep, until he and his gang were found out. And he had to jump in the sewers to escape. In reality he failed a lot of his deception rolls but was actually a great musician. He also insulted a goblin to death (by telling him he smelled like a wet dog) but actually made kobolds believe he was a messenger of Tiamat and send them in the mid of the day to Baldurs Gate (except for two who ended up in a trap). Considering his perception rolls i believe he was a lousy liar and the people of Waterdeep just felt bad for his lousy lying (or were amused by his bad made up stories) and paid the unreasonal price willingly and knowingly. Also i believe that a certain business partner of his just lied him out of business and the city guard was just bringing money from the nobles of Waterdeep because they just felt bad for him. He also got an artifact connected with Ilmater and he developed this tendency to slap his party members with the artifact (called the Hand of Ilmater) across the face when he used it to heal them. I enjoyed Marduk Stormhammer aka Darwin Greycastle very much and i believe he started a band called Marduk and the Storm Hammers.

Your comment reminds me of the session I ran last week. There is a small 5 year old NPC I just introduced the party to, and within literal minutes of meeting her they're writing up adoption papers and forming a guild called Child Services and are all now dads. She has a dad already and they don't give a shit, they're her dads now.

I got something for ya: My friendly Hill Giant named Boldr. He's a Hill Giant who's pretty dumb even by Giant standards, and he lives a more hermit life-style as a shepherd with a bunch of magic sheep (he doesn't know they're magic). He's this very child-like, curious Giant who the party comes across in the hills leading to one of the cities for the campaign. He meets them and despite their initial shock, they see he's not going to try and hurt them (he's even a bit cowardly, as anything sharp or threatening makes him scared), and he offers to have them spend the night with him inside of his cave.
In my current campaign I'm a half orc druid that just... Looks like fantasy Dora the Explorer and she's like?? Eight in human years but with a good 20 in wisdom (the most in the group, currently, I think) and one time the party went to sleep next to a holy book and then the angel trapped in it was like past come free me, so she snuck around and does it and long story short my eight year old druid has a book of exalted deeds and our cleric thinks she's the incarnation of good in this realm
I had a wholesome halfling, Bato Sheepsherder. Divorced, middleaged, slightly overweight, loved animals, was known as the best pancakebaker in town and worked in a shelter for poor and abused kids so that he could raise money to build his own animalshelter. Sadly he died on his third mission. But people are still talking about his pancakes and someone had their character name their dog after him. So he is still a bit part of the world.

Ok i'mma share one of my stories: So basically a year...maybe ten years actually....I played a burgundy red Teifling named Jason Soulweaver. A rogue who was 3'1, covered in scars + bandages, wore old and tattered cloths, lived on the street, and was a orphan with a overall tragic past. He was a rogue steeling to live another day and had just one pet. A little lizard named Rein who could shock people. The way the party found him was he was half dead calling out "help...please....somebody." He was bleeding to death as well he hadn't eaten in days. The next thing he knew he was in a bed being guarded by a half Orc paladin named Forge, after that this beautiful human cleric by the name of Lissa comes in. "Oh. Your awake I see?" She walked over and gently treated my wounds. Me in my Irish accent says "What do I owe you? Coin? Need something stolen or someone killed?" Next voice I heard was this very soft spoken but authoritve filled voice that said. "That will not be necessary. Just know we're not your enemy." It was a male half elf Druid with a falcon, kinda like that villain from Mulan armour wise, this was Argo the hunter. "Then why are you helping me?" I said at this point still afraid. "Lissa found you injured, starved, and half way to the after life." Forge spoke with a booming English accent. "I-I couldn't let you die....your too young to die." She said. I gave a confused glance "Y-your not going to kill me?" Lissa nodded no. "If anything I'd like you to join us." And with that I basically became there stealth guy of the party. Now more on Lissa. Lissa was a pale blue Tiefling who was like...a foot taller then me and basically became Jason's parental figure. She's super SUPER SWEET! And a glass cannon. She was also naive as hell meaning Jason basically had to teach her street smarts. Over time it went from a child and guardian situation to basically them falling in love. Jason, the lucky lad he was, actually kept and restored his original cloths with the help of Lissa which the basically made into studded leather armour +. He kept it and on occasion wire it.

If you, as a DM, kill Isabelle at this point, you're an asshole. I know it's common to do shit to background characters, but what do DM's think a reason is for the amount of orphans in D&D? Let people have a family that's save for once.
Oooor.... Have her killed to anger the players, then later have her secretly resurrected and twisted into a kinda of assassin by the big bad with little to no memory of her former self. Throughout the campaign a masked woman attacks and party with her face always hidden, escaping every time they try to defeat her. Finally in one of their encounters a player lands a strike across her face with their sword/knife/fireball/whatever, leaving a scar as her mask is torn away revealing a gaunt-looking Isabelle beneath. Just before the final fight have her attack the party, Storig says something along the lines of 'This is my fight' etc etc, and has to remind her of who she is and win her back before she kills him (or alternatively he kills her, but this doesn't seem to be that kind of character so I doubt that'd happen). Cue remembrance of her past, guilt for her actions, asking for death (which Storig would promptly refuse), a brief gratuitous romance scene, and her addition to the party as an actual combat companion for the last fight of the campaign.

I made a poor 15 int Half-Orc girl who ***really*** wanted to be a wizard, so she worked hard at it, built up her stats, retrained her class, apprenticed with the existing party wizard, and so on. She was great.
@@CryptidVulpes In Critical Role, there's a female half-elf named Vex'ahlia, who was referred to as 'Little Elf Girl' by a somewhat temporary member of their party named Taryon. She *hated* being called that, and it's a wonder she never killed him for it after all the times he said it, sometimes I think just to annoy her.
I feel Dingo’s art style was the perfect fit for this cute, nervous, big, good boy. Her depiction of Storrig gives me a lot of the same instant “OMG I love him” feelings I got from Abby.

Ok i'mma share one of my stories:
So basically a year...maybe ten years actually....I played a burgundy red Teifling named Jason Soulweaver. A rogue who was 3'1, covered in scars + bandages, wore old and tattered cloths, lived on the street, and was a orphan with a overall tragic past. He was a rogue steeling to live another day and had just one pet. A little lizard named Rein who could shock people. The way the party found him was he was half dead calling out "help...please....somebody." He was bleeding to death as well he hadn't eaten in days. The next thing he knew he was in a bed being guarded by a half Orc paladin named Forge, after that this beautiful human cleric by the name of Lissa comes in. "Oh. Your awake I see?" She walked over and gently treated my wounds. Me in my Irish accent says "What do I owe you? Coin? Need something stolen or someone killed?" Next voice I heard was this very soft spoken but authoritve filled voice that said. "That will not be necessary. Just know we're not your enemy." It was a male half elf Druid with a falcon, kinda like that villain from Mulan armour wise, this was Argo the hunter. "Then why are you helping me?" I said at this point still afraid. "Lissa found you injured, starved, and half way to the after life." Forge spoke with a booming English accent. "I-I couldn't let you die....your too young to die." She said. I gave a confused glance "Y-your not going to kill me?" Lissa nodded no. "If anything I'd like you to join us." And with that I basically became there stealth guy of the party. Now more on Lissa. Lissa was a pale blue Tiefling who was like...a foot taller then me and basically became Jason's parental figure. She's super SUPER SWEET! And a glass cannon. She was also naive as hell meaning Jason basically had to teach her street smarts. Over time it went from a child and guardian situation to basically them falling in love. Jason, the lucky lad he was, actually kept and restored his original cloths with the help of Lissa which the basically made into studded leather armour +. He kept it and on occasion wire it.

If you, as a DM, kill Isabelle at this point, you're an asshole. I know it's common to do shit to background characters, but what do DM's think a reason is for the amount of orphans in D&D? Let people have a family that's save for once.

Have her killed to anger the players, then later have her secretly resurrected and twisted into a kinda of assassin by the big bad with little to no memory of her former self. Throughout the campaign a masked woman attacks and party with her face always hidden, escaping every time they try to defeat her. Finally in one of their encounters a player lands a strike across her face with their sword/knife/fireball/whatever, leaving a scar as her mask is torn away revealing a gaunt-looking Isabelle beneath. Just before the final fight have her attack the party, Storig says something along the lines of 'This is my fight' etc etc, and has to remind her of who she is and win her back before she kills him (or alternatively he kills her, but this doesn't seem to be that kind of character so I doubt that'd happen). Cue remembrance of her past, guilt for her actions, asking for death (which Storig would promptly refuse), a brief gratuitous romance scene, and her addition to the party as an actual combat companion for the last fight of the campaign.

I think the music wasn't -for- the blacksmith, even though he played it for her. I think it was always meant for Isabelle, and the blacksmith could see that, hence why she was so cool with that being were they ended the date.

She *hated* being called that, and it's a wonder she never killed him for it after all the times he said it, sometimes I think just to annoy her.
