WELCOME TO THE PARTY
Time for a retro paint off?
@@mareusappare 90% sure that’s Guy’s next video.
Thank you for introducing goblin green to me
Die hard reference!
Ah that's how I remember models back in the day!
Fuck yes! As someone who started playing Warhammer in the last days of 2nd edition this makes me very happy! I started with the Blood Angels!
That's the cleanest, crispy lookin model i've seen. I hope one day I can paint my ultramarines this perfect.
GOBLIN GREEN HAS A TH-cam CHANNEL!!!!!!! Hooray!!!
Johnny Sins in the Warhammer painting scene in between takes.
I love the lil thumbs up from the old heavy weapons marines.
Maaaaaan I love vintage warhammer … please please keep vintage videos coming
My god thats glorious.
I was a teenager that dabbled in miniature painting and frequented hobby shops in the mid 90's and this definitely looked like the 90's.
That space marine looks great
-sees oldhammer

Happy
Fantastic! I've been waiting for this ever since seeing your astonishing work on the Oldhammer groups 😍
Really glad you liked it 🥳 thanks so much for the comment😁
Dude more videos this is amazing
Here from Midwinter Minis! Great work!
I would happily watch you do a tutorial on how to paint every colour of the rainbow in 90s style! I adore older minis and really want to have a crack at them in the retro style like this but its so hard to find guides that capture 'this' style!
Ooooh, at the start i think the video was a meme, great job dude, i suppose this a great nostalgia dosis for the people who paint 40k miniatures in the 90s 😎😎
More Oldhammer! I love it.
God damn! So crisp
Yep, against the blue Bg it looks right out of the 'Eavy metal pages of early White Dwarf. Brings back some nice memories.
That smooth intro music!
Thanks mate, really glad you liked it, I actually threw that in last minute but thought it was the right kind of chill for this pace of video.
Outstanding tutorial Brother GoblinGreen!
If only they had these tutorials back in tje 90s instead of Primer, unthinned base, ink blathered on, dry brush!
Paint so thick you get a +1 Armour bonus!
Oh yeah! New old cool warhammer content! I like this.
They are beautiful!
Straight out of the Big Black Book!
I think you might have read my mind with this tutorial. I LOVE the blood angels and the older styles of painting. Win Win
🙌
Love the paint job 👍
thanks mate!
The flames on the barrel of the rocket launcher give me so many nostalgic feels! Great work.
@@ms-jw3oy hey! Yeah they were great fun to paint. Glad you enjoyed them
Love it, takes me back to the style when I was first exposed to Warhammer 40K, which when I think about it was 1994. Might do a little blood angels kill team in this style.
Thank you. I dont have those fancy, magical instant contrast painting and washes that many use nowadays, and you gave me good techniques to put in practice.
This is awesome. I have a complete 2nd edition starter with extra marines and orks that I want to paint up from this period, so very excited and will be following this recipe.
ALL HAIL THE GOBLIN GREEN.
OMG I'm SO ready for a channel focused on this style of painting. I don't use Instagram, so I didn't know about your paintjobs (until today's Midwinter Minis video). They are exactly what I want to achieve in my older miniatures. I've been obsessed with this notion since I saw a 2nd Ed. Eldar Dire Avenger that Darren Latham painted. I selfishly wish you a very long TH-cam career 😅😅
Thanks and welcome!
That same dire avenger got me going as well 🙌
"I'm SO ready for a channel focused on this style of painting"
Hehe made two videos and dissapeared
Clicked because the gorgeous thumbnail, stayed for the lesson.
Thanks mate, I spent quite a while trying to find a thumbnail I thought worked and would hopefully stand out. Really glad to hear you liked it. 👍
Oooof, fantastic! A niche channel perfect for my taste
I want this style for my Votann boys. Planning a Kirby paint scheme, and this captures the bright colorful nature. Fight the grim dark!
Great to see the move from Instagram to here!
Proper nostalgia here
Please make more videos!
Man, these were such good videos. Please man, one more tutorial on a full space marine!! Two from different chapters would be even better : ) Thanks for these tutorials; they've really changed my hobby for the better.
Homeboy got 4k subs from one 5 minute video
Respect
Painted my first Blood Angels army in 1994! The starter set box art for the 2nd edition was the coolest thing I'd ever seen😅
Lots of nostalgia here for me - I remember getting the 2nd ed 40k box set from Argos(!) and playing it so much on the dining room table, controlling both the Marines and Orks. Amazing video, thank you.
I can remember playing both sides too. Fun times! 😆
This is the best kind of painting videos, in that it really made me want to go and paint some red.
This is where the fun begins
🙌
Oldhammer lives! *STOMP* *STOMP*
🙌🙌🙌
I require more, please. Very informative video and well produced.
Gorgeous!!!
Gorgeous!
oooh, i will love this channel
that with the letter "L" is really useful, thanks
Glad its a help mate!
That red is RED! It looks phenominally good from the original Terminator Assault Squad lead pack.
RADICAL! You nailed it!
So.much.nostalgia.
Mike McVeigh would be proud 😁
You get a like purely for the thumbs up on the marine. But I loved the nostalgia. Nice work.
Omg. That looks amazing, you really brought back the 2nd feel there
Welcome. Loved the tutorial 👍👍
I must say, getting 5k subscribers in 3 days. Well done goodsir
Fuck I love oldhammer.
came here from midwinter mini's video! absolutely love your work, despite not even being alive during most of 2nd edition i have really strong secondhand nostalgia whenever i see amazing paintjobs like this!
Thanks for the comment, always great to chat with fans of this style. Really glad you enjoy it!
It's so sad that he just left after making two videos. It wasn't much but I miss him
Great 1st video - please please please keep coming with the retro vibes!
Aha, the watering down of the red takes me back to the old flip-lid citadel paints, and the ultra-low pigment reds and yellow.
Beautiful tutorial mate thank you for sharing please make more!!!
I'm here from Midwinter Minis, your models look fantastic and I can't wait to see where this channel goes!
Thanks for the comment mate, really glad to see you here 👍
Mate thats sick taking me back love the old paint style
Awesome job 👏 👏👏👏👏
I've seen a lot of your models come by on Reddit and have been awestruck at the 90s paint schemes. Awesome to see you sharing the (not so) secret sauce on TH-cam.
Very cool, the old devastator models are still some of my favourite sculpts.
They are great right? Love the extra details on the legs
@@GoblinGreen2021 agreed, it's the extra details that make them stand out so much.
Bought a bunch of them over the years that I need to get built up.
Absolutely love the checkered storm bolter omggggg
Seen your stuff in a couple of places but sent here by Midwinter Minis. Instant sub.
I want to have my Alaitoc Eldar painted in a retroscheme, I really hope you continue making videos on this retro style of painting!
Used this for my most recent project (retro blood angels) and it turned out fantastic! Super clear and helpful instructions/tips. Very much looking forward to your next video! Thanks for sharing this stuff. :)
So cool!!!
thanks mate!
MOAR PLEASE
🙌
This is going to be the start of something great
Loved seeing your work on Instagram, and I can't wait to see what you create here!
Supremely brilliant. I love how vibrant Oldhammer models like this were painted, great tutorial!
My past child self thought the models in the old Codices and White Dwarf magazines were just beyond any normal human.
Hello from Midwinter Minis. Looking forward to many more videos from you. :)
Welcome and thanks for saying hi 😁
This is beautiful.
Absolutely love this! My talented hubby!!Well done on your first video, can't wait to see more!! Am loving seeing how many people are enjoying your style and skill! Well deserved 😀 xxx
Woot woo!
Fantastic video. Can't wait to see more content on your channel
I literally just bought the 25th Anniversary 2nd edition Space Marine captain yesterday and now I find this, thanks so much for the vid, my boy is gonna look perfectly retro!
Thats a lovely model, congrats for finding one!
Nice work and I like how easy it is to correct mistakes.
Great to see you here budd :)
thanks mate!
Love this, so much nostalgia, so soft almost ASMR voiceover, really clear and interesting tips and techniques. love it
Really appreciate that mate, the sound for the video especially was a steep learning curve so glad it's come out ok. 🤘
Excellent video! Thank you for the paint tutorial!
That is the best style. Nowadays painting styles can't compare :)
That Khorne Red/Incubi Contrast is a better version of what I used to do, Biel-Tan Green into the recesses. Thank you, I will be doing this from now on.
Adding green in, interesting. I'm going to have to try that now 😁
I love your videos and your painting style. Thank you for your content. Working on 1996 orcs. Cheers!
You're my favourite retro-style painter, so glad you made your way to TH-cam!
This looks great. I am seriously considering using this red method for World Eaters when the new models get released. A retro band of Berserkers would look nuts on the tabletop!
Dude... That was amazing! I need more of this in my life.
Surely the next video is a Goblin Green basing tutorial
How have I not thought to make that as the first video!? This is now on my list and will make sure tag you in the vid 🙌🙌🙌
Born in 97 and only got into the hobby ~5 years ago, and I'm somehow still nostalgic for oldhammer?!? Love the channel. Lean into the 'Old issue of White Dwarf' style.
Love it! Fantastic mini.
Perfection
Yet another person here who would love to see a growing channel based on beautiful retro art styles, especially as a newer hobbyist guilty of scouring the internet for models from that era to someday paint up as well as I can- I can’t wait to see where you go from here :)
Have a cracking day, you talented fellow!
Too kind Tom , Glad to find another retro fan 🙌
The algorithm works. I saw the Midwinter Minis video and right after that this video was suggested to me.
That's amazing! Thanks for letting me know mate. Hope you enjoyed it
@@GoblinGreen2021 Definitely. I've been following your Instagram account for a while, so you've easily earned the following here
Awesome stuff you paint. Really gotta love oldhammer
Just came from midwinter beautifuly done.
