That’s a awesome mini. At first I was like aw it’s too dull and orange but then man the finished project was just beautiful. Lesson learned, trust the process.
don’t know if it’s intentional but this video reminds me so much of BuyPainted’s videos. He had such a great style and was probably one of the founders of the youtube hobby space. This was a nostalgia trip in so many ways.
So clean! Love the vibrancy of the Blood Angels. If you are looking for video suggestions I have a couple. First are Warcry Iron Golems, particularly with a darker blue-grey skin as described in the lore and in some of the artwork in the original rulebook. Second is a series on Eldar Aspect warriors using 2nd ed or 2nd ed inspired paint schemes. Loving this channel so far. Keep up the great work Mr. Matt.
Thank you! Great suggestions. I have a pile of 2nd ed Eldar models, I'll have to add a couple of those to the queue soon. They'd be a lot of fun to paint
Hey, Thank you so much for this video, it was exactly the kind of video I needed right now - I’m just out of hospital. As someone else mentioned, you really are the Bob Ross of the mini painting community. Have liked and subbed.❤
@MattsHobbyHour yeah mine too, i haven't painted since then, well apart from my return in Jan this year.... alot more to learn than i remember lol getting there though
@@crayzeewhorse yeah lots of new stuff since then. Especially the amount of resources available online. Welcome back to the hobby and good luck with your painting!
I think you might mean Coat d'Arms paints. Those are made by the original manufacturer of GW paints in the 90's. I've used them, they're ok but not the greatest quality. Not very high pigment density. They're fun for nostalgia's sake, but I wouldn't recommend them otherwise.
That's a good question! Usually I paint two, sometimes three coats for a very even finish. It also makes the surface a little slick which helps the wash flow better. I used to paint it black first but l haven't noticed a significant difference in the finished result, so I just save myself a step and don't bother with it. However if you're painting something like chainmail or if you plan to drybrush the metal basecoat, then painting it black first is probably a good idea.
Watching that old crappy brush just slather on the Evil Sunz Scarlet almost killed me bruh 💀 Also man whatever settings your camera has really made it look orange lol
Some times I like using cheaper supplies just to show that you dont necessarily need something fancy or expensive. The more affordable and accessible we make this hobby the better! Thanks for watching!

LOVE THIS PAINT JOB....man if love to do some of these but they'd probably look odd with the rest of my marines
Thanks! They might stand out a bit... they're like half the size of a primaris marine. I'd say paint some anyway!
Nice job. And I agree with a previous comment, you're like Bob Ross of miniature painting :)
Thank you! That comparison really made my day!
Would love to see a space wolves video 🥹
Wow
Army Painter paints were the GW brand in 1994 or so.
They have the names still and everything...

Do you use water or Glaze Medium to build your glazes? There are so beautiful!!
Thanks! I just use water.
You may have answered it already, but why do you not undercoat your metal areas in black prior to painting the metal areas?
