Very different accommodation from the last type 42. JR’s have more luxury accommodation than our SR’s mess on the 42’s. I am sure the 26’s and 31’s/32’s will be even better. Bravo Zulu!
I've been a submariner for the whole 9 years I've been in this navy, and I'm very jealous of the space you guys have and starting your turbine at the flick of a switch? Impressive. I wish we could do that with our reactor.
We also have 4 Typhoons stationed there along with Rapier batteries and at least one SSN. They have a proceudure in place which allows them to station an entire infantry battle group there within 48 - 72 hours. More Typhons along with GR4's would be there within 24 hours
Dauntless, Wrens new entry establishment near reading, went there for a social when I was ships company at Royal Arthur 79, nice looking ships the 45' s
I was on Rhyl in 1969 before it was modernised sleeping in a hammock and no dining hall. Subject to articles of war discipline. Everything after that was easy.
How many sailors on HMS Dauntless? And what is the make up of men and women sailors, number wise. When I was enlisted in the US Army , Basic combat training was 75% male 25% female. Then in AIT , Quatermaster school it was 60/40 in my 92Y(supply) MOS and looked about the same in 92G(food specialists) and 92F (petroleum supply).
mmm thats different.....if i ever see the ship in port just come on board for a private tour? ...i can't imagine anyone on an american ship saying that...if i just came on board i'd probably be killed and beaten...and then tazed. god i like these guys...then theres the one at the fire controls....its user friendly and windows based? is he trying to sell it to me? i'm not picking on them though. i just imagine the american version of this video. its a hilarious image
I'm not navy so please excuse the question . But where the chopper lands cant that area be raised to the height of the hanger the chopper is stored in , so the chopper could then be lowered into the now "new" hanger directly under the landing pad by elevator . A roller type hanger door/roof could then be activated in the now new roof . Leaving the old hanger space for new defence or assault weapons or even for a 2nd chopper ?
I don't think that's really an issue with the new T45s. The hangar at the stern is plenty big enough for a Merlin or Lynx, and if I'm not mistaken, they have an extra section forward of the hangar as a general mission space that can be used for storing all sorts of gear, and can be opened onto the main hangar (though that could be the new design frigates, I'd have to check). Ships also have the facility to tether helicopters to the flight deck so if they can't be moved to the hangar, they can still be kept secure in rough weather. In terms of having a higher flight deck, I imagine that would present a fair few problems for the radar stealthiness of the ship, and if the deck is higher up relative to the ship, it's going to be moving a lot more in rough weather, making landing and take-off more difficult that it already is on a moving ship.
Ignore that Argie nob, we all know that most intel was provided by was provided by the 3 nuke subs the RN had deployed, MI6 and GCHQ, its fair to say the Yanks and even the French provided some intelligence, but American assistance in this sphere is not unusual, ie "5 eyes" and the French gave details about exocet, ie when, where and how many. It is rumoured though that Maggie threatened to "lose" all technical details the UK had about exocet in East Germany if French help was not forthcoming!
Stopped it after the first minute! I couldn’t stand the irritating background sounds! Perhaps another time when you have some decent music! I am very interested too! I just couldn’t stand the sound!
@Jeneral28 it wouldnt take long for the 45 to be fitted with a/s capabilities, the fact is, theres no point making a type 45 amazing at shooting down planes and okay at taking on ships, the ship needs to have a purpose otherwise whats the point in the frigates and the equally amazing attack subs? i would have put anti ship capabilities, but then again, i would give my gran and grandad an extra tenner a week pension if i could. :-(
I know this is a month old, but Haven't you seen what they teach them in school. They have hate towards us bread into them. Fortunately our education is unbiased.
@MrFattyfatfatboy I live in Kansai, Japan. The region has the same size economy as Australia. Britain, a small country, has an economy twice that of Australia. So Aust has an enormous landmass, but never became a superpower like America. Why not? For such a large country, Australia is a long way down the world economy rankings. England doesn`t pay Aust anything, either, and why should it? The RAN was running British-built ships till the 1980s. Why not buy Japanese?
haha...i did think that when i was in the ops room on HMS Daring.........i wonder what version of Windows it is....maybe a customized military variant designed for the RN. One things for certain, you dont want to have to reboot system, during an attack on vessel....otherwise you might as well kiss your bottom goodbye!
I know this thread is YEARS old but I'm answering in case someone else stumbles upon this and thinks colourblindness bars them from doing some excellent work in the military. Trust me, from someone who is colourblind and worked in Electronic Warfare, colourblindness won't stop you having a successful career.

@MrDeano324 I jolly well know my facts. All other major and medium sized navies have destroyers or frigates which have both weapons. Evne the Type 42s had more anti-ship capabilities. What knowledge do you have!!!!
doesnt matter if all of south america turns up the uk has canada and the usa on its side... the u.s having the biggest military budget in the world and its navy counts as the second biggest airforce right behind the u.s airforce itself so Argentina try it please. call the uk out to round 2 just letting you know that we have the 5th biggest military spending budget in the world so i like our chances
Atlas...Canada, Australia and New Zealand are all independent countries. They would only assist if they wanted to. The Queen can't order them to do anything....and I think that you probably know that. In a fight between the UK and Argentina, for the most part, we would likely be on our own (as in 1982) as the Falklands don't serve anyone else's strategic interest at all. Come to think of it, they don't really serve British strategic interests either. Back in 1982 the UK and Argentina were negotiating a deal for handing the Falklands over to Argentina in a Hong Kong style arrangement. Then Argentina attacked. It was an own goal, because now they will remain British for...who knows, but the next couple of centuries at least. Or until the UK itself is somehow rendered out of existence.

Beware Argentina, This ship alone could wipe out your entire Airforce...
That’s if it actually managed to get there without breaking down!
@@flagwanker6346 😂
I doubt it, it hasn’t left Portsmouth for 4 years, dream on.
Schooled! :D
Even with our reduced forces we would kick their arses.
Why do bitter & Jealous Argentines keep coming on these comments pages? Go have a look at your own fleet. (hand-me-down 1970s ship)
My first ship HMS Rhyl 1972 was slightly different!
I was on Rhyl in 1969 before it was modernised sleeping in a hammock and no dining hall. Subject to articles of war discipline. Everything after that was easy.

Holy crap..this ship is so luxurious compared to other naval boats...
HMS Dauntless used to train WRNS in my day lol
Had two hammock ships. The crew were the last thing considered.
I loved hearing all the English accents !
You all got it Easy!! Compared to the USN!!! Congrats!!
Heard Dauntless is going to be docked for a few years to sort out her propulsion issues.
Pablo Jay won't be a few years however it is being refitted for cooling.
Tristram Randall
And a training barge no doubt.
Windows 2000, which is a demonstration of how long the PAAMS system has been in development. Mind it was a rock solid OS.

I think Argentina uses BSD Unix for its military hardware, not Microsoft Windows. So if I were on the HMS Dauntless, I'd be worried.
Military Hardware? You're a bit stupid aren't you?
"Military Hardware"
Talks about software

so all they do onboard is sit at computers?
Do they have any anti ship missiles ? You really need them on a warship.
8 harpoon which are being replaced by 8 Naval Strike Missiles
Did it fight in the Iraq war?

You're forgetting the intel, that's something you still lack.
Is seual realtionship between crew allowed ?
Nope. At least not on ship
I hope to God I get stationed on a T45!
yum yum type 45 destroyer
Cool ship , I wonder if the food is any good ? 🤣🤣🤣
