Ive been watching these in order the packs released and they really do chronicle the sad progression of game packaging. reading through the manuals with my mom was really fun when we got new packs for 2 when I was a kid, and that just kept getting worse when 3 started.
High-End Loft wasn't too bad, and I use a few of the items from Fast Lane and Town Life Stuff. My biggest problem with stuff packs is that they cost too much for too little. I'd much rather purchase items on The Sims 3 Store online or just grab some free custom content.
your reviews are so oddly soothing. i've had a stressful week and therefore haven't gotten much sleep, but these are just so relaxing to listen to, even if they're old.
Nerte You didn't create them so you might have no idea how hard or easy it was to create. Their efforts + the amount of people working on them and making them work in the game + money for profit = the 20 bucks. Unless you created it all by yourself, you can't just say how much it should cost. Maybe they're not worth it for you, in which case that's fine, but EA won't change the price in order for us consumers to be happy if it isn't worth it for them.
I'm feeling like they should just take all the "Stuff" packs and cram them together into, like, 3 or 4 packs: Clothing shit, Home Ren. shit, Decor shit, and Everything Else. Feel like sorting out all the stuff packs into these 4 categories and releasing it all at once would probably equate to around $15-20 each of content.
Corporate Commander: WHAT IS THIS!? Maxis: Just an instruction catalog that shows what we are including in the Stuff pack. Corporate Commander: We don't need this! You know how much this cost me?! TWO DOLLARS! Throw it out just let the players find the stuff!
That's why I don't like Corporate Capitalism. It's innate function is to make profit above all else. Nothing else is really taken into consideration. No matter how sleazy, cut cost and raise profitability. Case in point, The Sims 4. That was the cheapest, lowest thing I've seen EA do yet.
@vampireofstyx What a completely biased, bull balls of a comment. Everyone knows what a review is, aside from a relatively mindless form of entertainment, it's a completely subjective opinion of one individual on a certain item solely for the purposes of informing & critical evaluation. It *must* be biased. If it weren't that would be known as a crappy, soft & heartless review due to not taking a stand on a topic. Your comment detracted from the flow of other comments due to your intonation.
Loving the snark lol. I cracked up at the "If you didnt buy the Late Night expansion your well taken care of now" regarding the not 1 but 5 hot tubs lol.
@BagLady141 Hehe, well thanks for the interest! Yes, I plan on the Generations being online around June 1st. EA is going to release a pets expansion (possibly titled Unleashed) this fall I think. The car was made by Fresh Prince, check my Sims 3 Fast Lane Stuff review for more info on that. As for what I do, it's easiest to say I work in the arts industry, building stuff for various clients.
@upyoursize Hehe, glad you enjoyed this one. I always use some kind of a script, and I also only follow it loosely. Mostly I just ramble on about really bizarre stuff until something "clicks" and I keep it in the review. These Sims reviews are a little easier to make "funny" I guess, since the subject matter is patently ridiculous. I just had a lot of fun making it!
I figure out a use for the rock stereo. Just wait till late and then wait until someone walks by then blare random music. This would be terrible in real life.
@shorty1k If you find out how, let me know how it goes! I must admit, I cheated and actually did this while editing the video. I just overlaid the Amiga footage on top of the computer screen playing Skate :( I also want new games for them to play, those are getting so old! I know people have made custom TV stations, so I'm sure it can be done without too much trouble, I just need to find out how...
It always annoyed me how I'd put that outdoor fridge in my garden for the barbecue kitchen but because it had such a rubbish food preservation time and all the fridges in your house were linked. it would cause all your food to go off twice as quickly as it did if you just had a high-end fridge in the kitchen.
@bubbles8joe8 Oh yeah, I can definitely see it appealing to some people, if anything for the hot tubs and the items that match their outdoor patios or whatever. But for me, having Night Life and hermit sims, I really didn't care for it!
@ayea28 I know, right? I was mostly pissed because the manuals in these stuff packs showed exactly what new items there were, which makes my reviews easier to make. Now the only thing you can do is browse the catalog in Buy Mode, which is a freaking pain because you have to look for those tiny little icons by the items and you still can't sort the items by pack/collections. At least, not that I know of.
Absolutely no. I am not here to "make" you do or think anything. I am here to review games, give you my opinion, and hopefully entertain you and maybe give you a laugh. What you do with all this is up to you, but the purpose is to help you make a more informed decision, not to brainwash you one way or another.
@spazzycat28 Seems you're the one missing the point here. This is a review from my perspective, so I state my opinion. And I think this particular pack of stuff sucks, so I played it up for laughs. Besides, there is no right or wrong way to play The Sims like you imply. Sandbox games like this are about making your own fun, whatever it is. Not everyone finds fun in items you can't use.
Sims 3 Outdoor Living is AMAZING! It's my favourite Stuff Pack and I bought it for roughly £3.00 in Toys'R'US in the UK, it adds REALLY nice clothes and shoes ect.. it also adds gorgeous everday furniture as well as a edition to making outdoor cooking ect..
I so wish they would have made this one downloadable from the store. I play the commercials to get points, so I never have to spend actual money, and that way I could get the few items I actually really want from this. (I love the metal curlicues, believe it or not!) I can't imagine paying $20 for things that look a mighty lot like items we already have.
iirc, the adds are/were available via thesims3 store page and limited to U.S. only. You could watch the add up to 5 times daily to get 50 Simpoints. I don't know if this is still up and running.
Athos10123 In case you haven't found out yet, it's an idle animation done autonomously by Sims with the Slob trait. If you want to access the animation purposefully, you can use the NRaas Animator mod. :)
whenever i wanna buy a sims 3 expansion, i always wanna consult first to your review. i trust your reviews much and i find it entertaining and funny as well. :))
@ReptileGamer Possibly, though I'm not sure it will be right as soon as it comes out. Now DarkSpore I know for sure I'll be reviewing. Just seeing that Maxis logo on a game again makes my spine tingle :D
@Krisshomez No problem at all! And that's appropriate you feel that way, since that is pretty much the entire reason for this channel: to keep the classics alive.
@catdogfishy I just state my perceived pros and cons, and then state a more precise, personal opinion at the very end of the video. Whether or not you think those add up enough to merit a purchase is up to you!
@NoLimitOnImagination If you're referring to the full DVD image, then yes it's that big. But the actual game content itself, for Windows at least, is only 300MB or less once installed. The reason for the bigger DVD is because it comes with tons of extra stuff on the disc, like a Macintosh version, base game patches, multiple languages and other things like that.
@BagLady141 Yeah. Always read my video descriptions, I include links to pretty much everything included in the video. There's a download link in the FLS description.
@jaelemar20 No, most of what I show is from Fresh Prince Creations! Just check his website. The couple classic cars in the background are just from the Fast Lane stuff pack.
Ahh, your reviews are always the best. Personally, I thought it would compare to the the sims 2 Mansion and Garden.....but this one seems to lack stuff. A lot of stuff. I agree with you on the trees too, I mean, the loading screen is grass and no new grass? I thought some of the clothes were pretty...but not many. They should've added a ping pong table too. I see those all the time on outdoor patios!
I love The Sims 3 and I don't mind the non-interactive stuff. I use those things for my artsy sims to paint or for backdrops to some photo shoots, but I do agree--it does get annoying when you can't use the stuff. I love your reviews, thanks so much. I didn't get Fast Lane--didn't like the cars. But I did buy Outdoor Living because I loved the outdoor kitchen set up and I like the variety of hot tubs. Keep up the great work!
@angelforlps Glad you enjoyed! And none taken, it's not like I posted this video to make friends here. Especially not with people who make snap judgments of an individual's personality and demeanor based on watching a satirical, scripted game review vid ;)
@TheVegEdge Heh, I've nothing against decor! Things like paintings and plants and curtains and junk. That stuff is supposed to just sit there and look nice. But things like bowls of fruit, lemonade, food carts and stuff like that? It was just surprising that like NONE of it was interactive when you'd think it would be! We have cakes that you can eat, tables you can cater from... but you can't drink the lemonade.
@ThroughTheBox You can just subscribe to my Sims reviews if you want to. Click the video description above, and click on the LGR Sim Games Reviews link. You can subscribe to just those videos there :)
When I played Sims 3 I had a nice outdoor deck underneath a second floor so technically it had an outdoor ceiling to hang that light. :) Great review as always, sometimes I wish I had kept the Sims but I can't stand EA's greedy ways with all these stuff packs and down-loadable content that cost a fortune and are really useless most of the time.
@phreakindee I should have commented on your review before commenting on someone else's comment. Someone linked it on the Steam forums and I was grateful that you covered all of the things it adds. I'll probably get it eventually, if only for the outdoor-themed kitchen set, but for now there's plenty of things I want more. So thanks for saving me twenty bucks. ;-) I haven't seen your videos before so this is probably something you do all the time but the Sims 1 music was a great touch.
@Rayportugal Haha, it's questions like this that really remind me how awesome it can be being a "Sim" game fan. Constant farts are enabled through the use of a mod: Twallen's DebugEnabler.
I love the way you say 'stuff'. It somehow makes the review a whole lot funnier. (Deadpan humour ftw!) And The Sims 1 music at the end? You, sir, are made of awesomesauce. (And I never buy/download any of the Stuff Packs... big waste of hard disk space)
@Bluesneon98 No, that makes me a fair reviewer. Just pointing out bad things isn't bad, it's being neutral. If bad things exist, it's my job to point them out. It's also my job to point out positive things, which I do every chance I'm given. What you're asking for is called "sugar-coating": ignoring the bad, only saying good things. That is a sign of a crappy reviewer just as much as someone who never says anything good at all.
@MegaXspace Critiquing flaws ≠ negativity Pretending it's good when it's not = sugar-coating, dishonesty I'm sticking with the former on this one, sorry. If you want reviewers to lie to you, go watch IGN or someone paid to say nice things about games.
I love your sense of humor in your reviews lol I always watch your reviews for the sims stuff/expansions before I consider buying them...definitely will pass on this one..hopefully the expansion pack in may makes up for it.

Watching LGR’s Sims 3 reviews brings me back to some really good times
Ahh, the original Sims music.
Just said "OMG that traditional sims music", then saw your comment! :)
OkamiNoNamida I got so excited, haha.
build mode 6, all-time favorite
Here in 2022 because I miss listening to LGR passionately deadpan roast the Sims series.
I raise your 2024😂
These things are nice, but should be 5 bucks MAX.
Hat is actually a good price for them
Nerte You didn't create them so you might have no idea how hard or easy it was to create. Their efforts + the amount of people working on them and making them work in the game + money for profit = the 20 bucks.

10 bucks sounds like a reasonable-ish price, at least because they have physical releases.
It's worth $5
I'm feeling like they should just take all the "Stuff" packs and cram them together into, like, 3 or 4 packs: Clothing shit, Home Ren. shit, Decor shit, and Everything Else. Corporate Commander: WHAT IS THIS!?
Maxis: Just an instruction catalog that shows what we are including in the Stuff pack.
Corporate Commander: We don't need this! You know how much this cost me?! TWO DOLLARS! Throw it out just let the players find the stuff!
two bucks for a few sheets of printed paper? try 5 cents in paper and 20 cents worth of ink!
Dont you know Corporate Commander makes everything overly ridiculously priced? XD
