    Hey everyone! I just wanted to share my thoughts. Overall I feel like Deva Cuts just aren't for me. For reasons I stated in the video plus I'm just not into the 360 layer look right now. Everyone has their own opinions. Please don't let mine turn you away from Deva Cuts. Everyone has different goals for their hair. I'd suggest you do your research to see if this cut is for you ❤️

      princessCaribou1 Most salons (not just deva curl) have a fee for detangling. It makes up for the extra time they use doing it. Not just curly hair though, a lot of kids come in with matts in their hair.

      The thing with layering, it's like in the ads to creams/shampoos etc: "for healthy *looking* hair/skin"... it is done to have a "thicker look" to the hair, right? Well, I want my hair to be *actually* thick. And not having "only" 'more noticable' breakage is nice too :) at the end it really is about trends/personal taste of styling/rippingoffmoney

    You bring up a fact that people don't realize. There is strength in numbers with curly strands, so even though it isn't the most beautiful thing to look at, blunt cuts or very minimal layers makes tightly curly hair stronger and much easier to grow out. Tons of layers = hard to grow out. One way to have the best of both worlds is to part your hair from ear to ear and cut the back half blunt and only layer the front.

    • @TheCurlyFitChicOriginal
      @TheCurlyFitChicOriginal 7 ปีที่แล้ว +69

      CreoleKing That's how I cut my hair. I layer the top half and the bottom half is blunt. I honestly don't understand why people get Deva Cuts. If a place only uses one brand of products that's a place I won't go to as they don't cater to everyone. We are all different. For instance, my hair HATES most butters, coconut, Olive, almond, and avocado oils. Oh and also protein rich. So for me all of the cheap products or the products geared towards "natural hair" do NOT work for me.

    I think the deva cut works well but I agree that if you want to ever wear your hair straight cutting curls as they hang dry will not allow you to do so. an experienced stylist can cut curly hair wet or dry and know how it will look when it's dry and styled so regular cuts can also work fine for curly hair. It is simply that beauty schools and many stylists pretend that the only hair yhat exists in the world is straight hair and that means not many people know how to handle curly hair. Straight haired people also call wavy hair curly so they don't know how to handle real curly and coily hair in types 3 and 4.

      I've been having my hair cut by a hair cut for several years by a stylist that had a Deva level 1 certification a few years ago. I suppose her certification has expired, but I know she still has some training in Deva. I did go to a level 3 Deva stylist about a month ago and I don't want this woman near my head with scissors ever again. Hailey always cut my hair blunt and it looked good, but this level 3 stylist gave me layers and bangs. I told her before she started cutting I DID NOT WANT BANGS. I do not do bangs because my hair does not do bangs well. Not only did she cut bangs, she cut bangs that hung in my eyes. I had bangs in between my glasses lens and my eye. I've got my bangs clipped back as they dry right now. That doesn't do a thing about the fact that the left side of my hair is perpendicular to my shoulders. It looks weird. I've had better cuts at Fantastic Sams and I didn't pay $200 for them either. At least she didn't charge me a detangling fee. My hair wasn't tangled at all.
      That being said, I do think that Deva is a good approach for some people and they make some good products. They're not the only good products though and I don't need to go through all that rigamarole to get a good style. My level 1 stylist is great. I'll go back to her in a heartbeat!

      I studied Cosmetology and I agree with you. I would not want a Deva cut because once in a while I like to wear my wavy-curly hair straight or just wavy but brushed, but generally like how other women look.

      I was really intrigued by the idea of this cut, not so sure now. I have a range of curls in the 3s and rarely wear down or curly anymore because it is so difficult to find stylists that are comfortable with my hair type or truly understand it. I've had two really great stylists in 40 years - one was during the big hair 80s, so he loved doing mine and helped me a lot as to how to care for it. The other was during the 00s and did great color and cuts, but always straight because that was what was stylish. I have no stylist at all now, cut it myself, but it is in a messy bun 90% of the time.

      Behind the chair I always charged a detangling fee if it took me more than a couple minutes to get a comb through the hair. Time is money, and charging a detangling fee was a good way to recoup the lost revenue from having to spend more time on one client and let clients know that 99% of the time coming in with clean, detangled hair is best. If combing the hair after washing took more than about two minutes, I'm probably not eating lunch that day. People don't realize how incredibly busy salons get.

  • @ladydonna773

    She was also concerned about my hair appearing "unhealthy". In the almost 3 years that I've been completely natural 1 thing that I've learned how to do is take care of my natural hair. She introduced me to the 30 day hair detox, which I'm grateful for, but I totally disagree that my hair is "unhealthy". Yeah it looks a little uneven in certain areas to the trained eye, but whose hair grows evenly exactly?? I'm not getting a Deva cut because imho it's not for people who don't plan on wearing their hair curly 90-95, maybe even 100 % of the time. I love my natural curls, but I also like to straighten them every now & again. I didn't return to natural just to wear my hair natural all the time, if that makes any sense. I agree with you, if your hair is cut in it's natural state, it tends to look a bit uneven when you straighten it, & that's something that I'm just not comfortable with right now.

    • @Leximarcellaa
      @Leximarcellaa  7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Ive never heard of the 30 day detox. Its kind of a loose-loose with the ends. Either theyll look good curly and not straight or look good straight but not curly. But I agree with you im not too comfortable with that. I straighten my hair about one or twice a year and im not about to walk around looking crazy LOL

    • @ladydonna773
      @ladydonna773 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Leximarcellaa Exactly doll! 😂😂😂😂😂😂 the 30 day hair detox is a website that teaches you how to detox your hair. Basically for 30 days you use no coconut oil, no castor oil or any products with either in the first 5 ingredients, and no eco styler gel. For most of us naturalistas that's our entire product stash lol but they do give a list of products that are recommended within the first 30 days. Also, the creators don't believe in the loc or lco method, instead they believe that depending on the products you use those are more than enough to efficiently moisturize natural hair. You should check it out, and be sure to let me know what you think about it!

    • @ladydonna773

    The Devacut was actually life changing for me. It made my hair far much more manageable, as having my hair shaped allows me to go 7 days without having to rewash it and it still looks good. My hair absolutely loves the devacurl products, and feels and looks amazing when I use them. I only had the devacut once back in 2013 and I just cut my hair myself to maintain the shape. We definitely all have different experiences and I appericate you for sharing your honest opinion!

    I've been cutting/ trimming/ shaping my hair for 5 years. I've gotten a Deva cut once. My stylist wanted me to come in with a fresh wash n go. She cut so little and complimented my skills so I haven't gotten another one. I'd recommend a Deva cut for shaping not if you need an overall trim. i also skipped their product application and left after the trim. I don't have a length goal so I'm fine snipping away at my hair for volume.

      YES!! My bestie is a hairdresser and she told me her level 1 Deva certification is just an afternoon course.
      She also said that the Deva cut takes forever and its super annoying to cut each curl individually, and once she was done and they had her wet it, the cut was EXACTLY the same that she'd been doing on curly hair for years, just a different method that took 4x longer. Most good hairdressers have an idea how to cut curly hair and will do a wet/dry cut to maximize your curl but still have it even.

    I get my hair cut with either Feye's self-trimming method (easy to Google) for a blunt shape, V-shape or U-shape. Then there's the compact cutting method for layers, from the book, "Haircutting for dummies". You either place a ponytail on the top of your head and snip a bit off, or you place that ponytail on the forehead and snip a bit off. These techniques will give you a different layered cut. I do the forehead ponytail and get short to long layers throughout with it. It's very charming for wavy/curly hair like mine. I've been cutting it like that for years now. I briefly tried the other ponytailing technique (on the top of the head), but I like the other layers better.

    2:42 When I took my daughter to a DevaCurl salon I also noticed they were really rough with the detangling!
    I watched them abuse her hair as I remembered how delicate I always were, sectioning the hair into one inch parts, starting the process at the ends, carefully moving up towards the roots...
    I was appalled at all the pulling and tugging I witnessed.

    I've also tried the diva cuts; they were... OK. I actually prefer a blowout + cut. Yes, there will be less layers and the curls may need to be trimmed after your first wash, but it's easier to transition from curly to straight styles (and back again) throughout the year without too much issue in the layer lengths.

But she even said if I straightened my hair she would cut it when it's straight so it's even. Makes sense tho! You do you. Honestly everything doesn't work for everyone bc we all have different goals. Love your vids❤️

    I like the honesty of this video and I see what you mean about not wanting to grow the layers. I got my first DevaCut the beginning of this year just to try and I enjoyed it because not many people in Utah can cut natural hair. I liked that my shape was fixed and wasn't a weird heart shape my hair has grown into over the years. I might do it again just because I am not straightening anymore

    I've been thinking about getting a deva cut but I'm glad that i stumbled upon this video. I am East African and I have fine loose curls that can get frizzy, tangly and lacks volume! So without prior knowledge on curly cuts I went to a Brazilian hair salon months ago. The hair stylist had nice curly hair so I thought why not. She gave me a nice balayage which compliments my golden undertone complexion. But the cut was weird. Like it's shorter at the front and long at the back.The longest part is up to my chest area. I have a fringe too. I payed $200 for colour/wash/blow dry and cut. because the length of my hair was very long. Didn't have an issue with the price but I sure as hell won't be spending that much again! She cut my hair when wet!!!!! Now growing it out, still have the vibrant colour. Not so sure about which cut to get when this horrible cut grows out! advice will be much appreciated!

    I wanted a deva-cut but my hair stylist does not recommend it for me because I still would like to wear my hair straight on an occasion and he is like the cut would be choppy on my hair and I know I would freak out if I saw that. He cuts my hair blown out with a shape that I like so there is no need for a deva cut on me. Plus my cut is only 55.00 verses that 200.00-300.00 price tag. I have shape and my hair can be worn straight if that is my preference. I prefer it that way. Plus I don't feel their products work on my hair texture. They don't wow me at all. Anyway Thanks for sharing your experience and opinion with us.

    I got a DevaCut for the first time a few days ago. It cost me only $60 plus tip, and took about half an hour. But then again, I live in the suburbs and I have wavy hair. However, the cost of the cut is the same for anyone getting at DevaCut at the salon I went to.

    i got a Deva cut the other day and i totally agree with you on the products that they use. I love their No Poo shampoo and the ultra defining curl gel but thats about it. My hair is naturally very dry and they put a deep conditioner in my hair rinsed it out and then put on a ton of gel! There was so much gel that i noticed chunky gel flakes in the front of my hair. I wish they would've used a leave in plus some other product to make my hair soft. After they scrunched my hair when it was dry it still felt crunchy and dry. Overall I love my haircut though because my stylist shaped it nicely and cut off a bunch of my heat damaged hair. The end result was nice, but I wish they used more moisturizing products.

      My Devacut has my ends cut back into a deep V which took me years to grow out without just hacking 4 inches off to cut it even! Then she thinned out my fat sausage curls which I loved and now no matter what I do I got a layer of frizz on top!! Never again!! I’m not blaming one bad Apple 🍎, I was just so excited when I found a Devacurl salon I didn’t do enough research that’s all.... That’s on me!! But boy I love me some Devacurl products!!

    In beauty school we’d trim just split ends by twisting small sections which made the ends easy to see. Now that I’ve short hair of course I found this hair trimmer called Split Ender Pro. There’s lots of reviews here on TH-cam and looks like a real solution to trim the split ends yourself without cutting length.

    I went to a Deva Curl certified stylist here in Chicago a couple of weeks ago for pintura highlights. They came out pretty decently, but in hindsight it's nothing I couldn't have done at home. She used olaplex which knocks down the strength of developer so you can't even really see the highlights unless you're looking closely or I'm out in the sun. True I dyed my hair black in the beginning of the year, but it's faded enough that whatever color I get next should be pretty easy to see. Overall it's just not what I wanted. There's no dimension whatsoever, it's just 1 flat color. I also agree about the detangling session...it wasn't fun, and I don't even consider myself to be tender headed. I didn't complain (big no no I realize) but for an African American stylist not to know how to gently detangle African American hair is pretty off putting. Also, the products she used weren't that great, they were sticky and I just could have done a better job at home for free. I need a trim and she told me that she doesn't do "trims", she does DEVA CUTS. Her rationale was that "trims" don't exist in the professional cosmetology world, you use scissors to "trim" & to CUT hair. I know many professional cosmetologists who know the difference between a TRIM and a CUT. I'm just not interested in getting a Deva cut, or any kind of CUT for that matter right now. If my overall goal is to eventually grow my hair out to a certain length, then why am I cutting it????? Thanks but no thanks!!!!!

      Thank you for sharing! Ive never gone to a deva salon for coloring before. Yeah im at the point where i only need a trim and the salons really dont offer that... and it not worth the price to just get a trim. "Thanks but no thanks" hahah i love it!

      Leximarcellaa You're so welcome hun! I paid almost $200 for the highlights and I honestly don't feel that it was worth it. I watched several pintura highlight videos, most notably Curldaze, Jasmine Brown and Simplybiancaalexis, and my highlights look nowhere near as good as theirs. I could have gone to Sally's and bought everything I needed, olaplex dupe included, and had my mom do them at home. I'm going to go to another salon in a few months and have them either re-highlight my hair or just go back completely blonde like on Donedo's blonde bombshell video. That color was so BOMB!!!!

    • @lt.2992
      @lt.2992 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LaBeLLa MiSSDonna Black hairdye doesn't washes out and disappears out of the hair. Color can fade with time and look less vibrant, but it stills there. As a haircolorist any client with dark dye in their hair should expect more than brown or copper highlights in one visit. If you wanted blonde highlights you should've thought that before dyeing your hair black or the hairstylist didn't properly explained to you how lightening hair works. Its sad you had to pay $200 for something that you wanted but it wasn't possible in the first place.

    • @ladydonna773
      @ladydonna773 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lysari T. I didn't say that black dye washes out...I said that it faded enough to get a pretty decent color pay off for whatever color I get next. It actually has washed out enough that my hair looks like it's usual medium-dark brown color, where the highlights aren't placed of course. The stylist did indeed explain that I wouldn't have been able to go up too many levels on the color chart because color doesn't lift color, so she had to use bleach. I think she didn't use a strong developer to begin with & with the olaplex it was knocked down even more. Sucks that I'm out of $200 & didn't get what I really wanted. But now I know better. Thanks for your advice!

    Everyone upset over the detangling fee is understandable... HOWEVER, prior to going in they do ask u to come in with tangle free and dry hair. The fee makes sense as they do give u a heads up if u do read what they ask. Second of all when it comes too the products there are different certifications a deva certified person can have. Level 1, 2, 3 prices go up with experience. Furthermore some stylist further they’re education To be specialized with super textured hair and products. These two are extra requirements a styalist can do so make sure u search and see if they have the special certifications for super texture and products u should be using. That being said I recommend you go in fully informed! I’m getting my first one soon and I’m super protective of my hair so I made sure I did my research.

    I got my hair by a certified Deva styler and I really enjoyed the options she gave me. I like the layered cut because my hair personally gets really stringy when it's all one length. My second cut, I got shorter layers than at my first cut because I wanted more volume. In retrospect, I prefer the long layers/ barely any layers. My cut still looks good, but I prefer the longer look. My hair also responds really well to deva products, but I'm white and have a smoother curl pattern, so I think it's just my type. This was a great and honest review!

    They're expensive on the East Coast and in the Midwest too, I just can't see paying someone upwards of close to $200 just to wash and cut my hair curly. I've cut mine curly and found that missed some split ends so I straighten it and did a really good trim (1-3inches) and my curls have been popping ever since and it's already growing back. I agree with you, it's not that great for what you pay from what I've seen and my hair is very healthy from doing what I've been doing. I didn't pay that much when I got tiny braids with extensions, which at least lasts months and was a protective style.

    This was very helpful! I appreciate you taking the time to make this video. We don't have any salons in the Chicagoland area that does this time of hair cut. So I just went on YT and found videos on the Deva cutting method and have been cutting my own hair for the past few years. I don't do layers, just simply maintan the ends and cut face framing layers only. That is extremely expensive for a hair cut, so even if we did have salons here, no thank you, lol. You look gorgeous and I love your hair! I am trying to grow mine out as well. I never straighten mine either, if I want to have a straight style, I just wear a straight wig, lol. Truth. That way I can switch up my hair without damaging my real hair, which is extremely fine and thin. Anywho, look forward to more videos from you! Big thumbs up love :)

      loveforeignaccents Yes exactly. I keep reading these comments about how you’re not supposed to come in with heavy products on or even not conditioning your hair. I don’t know what kind of salons these people are going to, but I’ve been to two different DevaCurl salons and they always advise me to cleanse, condition, and style my hair like I normally would. Funny because I have been to 2 salons and every single time that they have photographed my hair for before and after they have told me to not put any weighty hair products or butters in my hair including their products. Same for my white friend. It is the oldest hair advertising trick out there when it comes to curly hair... If your hair looks great coming in they do not use your hair as an example.

    In my opinion my first Deva cut saved my hair. I had so much dead hair but only at the ends and some strand had more straight ends than others. So when I got my cut they shaped my hair to have volume and frame my face and cut off all the dead hair. I think if you’re looking to do a big chop or get your hair to a healthy state to continue on your natural hair journey and to commit not to flat iron your hair this works great. I’m very happy with my cut and if I hadn’t gotten it I’d be walking around with dead limp hair instead of these full curls I’ve now be growing out for 3 months!

    I really liked your video ♥ I did the Deva Cut once when I did my big chop and I really liked and I'm going to do it again soon because I think it works for my hair but it's really nice to see a different opinion about the cut method. However what REALLY REALLY SHOCKED ME was the price of the cut in US! It's expensive af! I'm Brazilian and when I did my Deva Cut in Brazil I paid almost 55 dolars in the cut and almost 46 dolars in the Deva Curl 3 Step Process. Like the cut is SO expensive in your country and it's kinda expensive in my country too but usually those kind of things are more expensive here! And the fact that I did my cut in the Denis da Silva's salon (the guy who pratically invented the cut) makes everything even more shocking! I din't cut my hair with Denis but with his brother Almiro but still. That's why I'm so shocked!
    Anyway I would never paid almost 200 dolars in a hair cut and I totally support your decision especially because you said that it's not working for you.
    Btw your hair is gorgeous and I really loved your channel and you got a new subscriber ♥

    I agree. Not with all your points, but due to my hair’s several curl types there’s different shrinkage based on where in my head my hair is. So when I styled it for the first time after the cut it didn’t have the same shape. I’ve done it a couple times since (i only got my cut last month) and I’ve learned to finesse it but there are some strands that i think shrank differently due to the product used in the salon. I absolutely loved how my hair looked and moved after the cut however! BUT i wish it would’ve had more hold bc im used to my wash and go’s being perfectly coiled and ‘slept-in-a-silk-bonnet’ FINE by day three but by day two it was already looking less defined and frizzy. I’ve cut my hair before and I think I’ll just continue on that way bc it definitely shaped my hair beautifully, but with my normal products my hair falls a bit differently. Just came across your channel via your hot pink hair video and love it! New subbie!🖤

    Also, the price might just be in your area. I got my cut for $120 (including tip) and I live in Maryland.

      Leximarcellaa They do and for good reason. It's hard because there starts to be this hierarchy/oh but since you have curly hair you need layers or a deva cut etc. I really appreciate the video. It's frustrating for me in particular because I would hate how thin my ends would get. Product wise it felt weird in my hair but also, why cut hair frizzy and not formed as you would wear it if that's your philosophy? I'd rather bring products that work for my hair idk. This isn't exactly the place to rant about it but I hate that I always had to get the deva mulletesque haircut trimmed... it's like an endless pruning cycle idk

    Similar experience, I didnt get a Devacut but I did go to someone who cuts curly hair in shapes and my hair has not been the same since. The first thing that upset me was the fact that I did not have a relaxer or any heat damage in my hair ,and she took off 5 inches which I had told her not to take off any more than 2 at the most. I noticed immediately that my hair was very upside down triangular shaped which was exactly what I was trying to avoid. My hair began to get Extremely Dry and started getting tangled in knots in between all of these "layers" it's been almost a year and I'm just now growing my hair back . It has been a horrible experience trying to grow my hair Back and I've had to straighten it just to avoid that horrible triangle shape which is what I was trying to get away from 🤦🏾‍♀️

    Awesome opinion but I agree in charging detangling because I have seen many ppl whose hair is whoa … and someone like yourself who has a lot of hair … it takes time to detangle. 2 hours does not seem long to me because again, curly hair takes time and its not like you are blowing it out but letting it dry naturally or with very little heat. thank you for your video, it helps me with what I want to do. My hair is very short and I was looking for a shape up because I am going to let it grow out a bit for the spring/summer. Try Ouidad! It's also expensive but I prefer the carve and slice method. I've had a deva cut before but it left my hair poofy - Devacurl products also provide zero hold for my hair. I've been going to Ouidad at their flagship in NYC since July 2015 and had them cut my hair since I started transitioning. My hair now looks fantastic and I constantly get compliments on it. And, when I've straightened my hair after, the layers have looked great. I'm a product junkie so I've tried a number of brands' curl products but always end up going back to Ouidad products bc they work! My favorite product was the climate control gel but since they changed the formula, the jury is still out on that one.

    this is all dependent on the salon and stylist. mine was $95 which was the cut, wash, and style, no extra fees. my whole appt was a little under 2 hours; this depends on length and needs of hair. my cut was about 30 mins. look into your stylist before hand to make sure they are level 3 certified to give deva cuts.

    Great pointers, I haven't had one I live in NY and the prices are crazy also. I found a salon that gives the cut but not products and such. When my hair gets to the length I want I will try a deva cut for shaping. Thanks for this honest video.

    Well said..I don't like that they cut your hair in a curly state and in so many layers. The shape is for a curly state and if you want to flat iron your hair for a day it will look like a choppy bob!

    I agree with you about the conditioner. But the layers look so pretty on you.

    Thanks for being honest yes that's way to much for a haircut personally I don't prefer layers just want my hair even all over

    hey +leximarcellaa - you may want to check out curly hair artistry cuts if you like the dry cuts. They do any type of cut you ask for and aren't tied to one brand. If you do want to go to a professional again. If you don't want layers/shape no point though, agreed. I go to a CHA stylist and love the experience since I'm very into that currently.

    I'm going to sound stupid here...exactly what is a Deva cut for? Is it really much different from a regular cut. Please enlighten me. 🙇🏻‍♀️

    I’ve never had a deva cut but in my opinion I’m not enthused with the deva curl product. I went back to my Shea moisture line.

    i was just explaining to a friend why im not big on devacuts anymore. its great when someone's starting off in their healthy hair journey but thats it . Too expensive and risky since cutting hair in its curly state is super dramatic. Also not enough versatility. personally i think long layers look better than choppy layers. great review btw!

    I haven't figured out if I like their conditioners. I detangle with herbal essences and then use the conditioner as a leave in.

    I got a devacut today I’m very disappointed I’ve lost tons of my hair I’ve lost major length that I grew over a year and a half it looks good in a wash and go when I tried to do certain hairstyles they looked bad and the layers looks so silly it did give me volume but other than that it doesn’t look pretty I look good in minimal layers and I have 3c type of low density curly hair so it’s very painful for me it’s going to take a long time to grow back to what it was like ..and I just wanted to experiment but I guess it failed I look bad I’m crying my eyes out but at the end it’s just hair so ya it’ll grow but a big no on deva cut and that layered look as it makes my hair look even thinner

    I am not crazy about Deva products either. The smell is not my favorite either. I feel like they smell like cleaning products.

    The Devachan salon where I go in NY, the stylist I prefer is really good. If you don't want all those layers she will actually slightly layer them. I would definitely not pay extra for detangling tho
    How do you trim your own hair?

    When hair is cut dry is more prone to split ends and may even be the reason split ends occur

    I was getting Devacurl haircuts, but at a salon where the hairdresser was trained to do these haircuts. Found that my layers were looking very uneven and I was getting that 80s mullet look. Not attractive. However, I need some layers in my hair or I get the Xmas tree 🌲 look, or triangle shaped hairdo. Now I’m going to a new hairdresser and she cuts my hair wet. It’s much more even looking.

    As a stylist, curly hair girl and a devacurl believer, you made some great points from an individual perspective. But i charge $70-85 for a cut- no detangling fee. I also understand that the same product doesn't work the same for everyone. You should cocktail based on clients needs. As far as layers, it simply shows easier as your ends are more visible, but it does not cause more split ends. And there are definite ways to cut hair to wear both curly and straight. I think most of the negative comes from inexperienced stylist or simply the wrong stylist... find your perfect match. Great video though. If ever in Seattle visit me.

    My daughter has hair like yours and mine is similar in sections with waves mixed with spirals . We don't get layered hair cuts either . Blunt cuts / 0 - 45 degrees is the MAx . I only cut when straight too .

    I’m growing my Deva cut out and going back to wet cuts. My growth has not been the same. I’ve had two Deva cuts so far and my most recent one in Sept 2020 took a lot off but now left with a shape that I gave to always style otherwise it’s in the air 😩

    I’m sure deva brand products are great but, I wouldnt try going to salon simply because cutting ends when your hair is culy is not the best way to go. I try to convince myself to do just be cause it’s something I’ve always wanted to try but it makes no sense to. Like you said it has to be straighten to even know how much to cut or if your cutting straight. I personally hate layers but your hair looks really good with lots of volume!

  • @fabulously695

    Of you find you get lots of split ends from layers, don't blame the cut, blame the tools, blunt scissors will chew the end of the hair and make it split faster. The haircut should not take 2 hours unless you are having a restyle. It should only take 1-1.5 hours max unless you hair is matted

    I bought the deva shampoo, conditioner, etc. I didn't find that it made my hair any different, and the products triggered migraines for me. I was told by the salon that they would NOT guarantee the deva cut, if I did not let them put in (and continue to use) the deva product.

    Thank you for sharing!! I don't have damaged hair anymore and I thought to get a deva cut for shape. Thank you for all the detail. I will review your trim video to clip my split ends. Btw, I get split ends when I have layers as well. I'm glad I'm not alone. Can you do a video on how to do highlights? Or where you go to get your hair colored.

    I have returned to Janet at Euphoria Salon in Concord, NH. She gave me an excellent cut that follows the shape of my head and encouraged my curl with a 2018 style perm. The perm cost $75 and the color and cut were $75. The perm should last me for about 6 months. The only drawback is that the ends of my hair get knotted. I still use Deva Wash-Day Wonder for that.

      Teresa Quiroz It's supposed to be gentler and create waves. I wouldn't do it again; it screwed my hair up and I have a lot more breakage.
