    I feel the exact same way with straight hair. I don't feel like myself plus it's too much work to make myself look like someone I'm not. I was meant to be a curly girl and I love my hair.

      We’ve been brain washed by society, it takes time to unprogramme ourselves. Luckily my husband says he prefers it curly, says it makes my face softer?! Rude!!! 😂 I do think I look younger with curly hair and I’ve definitely noticed people are more friendly when I have it curly? Perhaps I seem more approachable?

    one thing i wish people talked about how it feels differently to blown out hair. i had to quit my curly hair journey due to my sensory issues of having hair that felt rough to the touch and wasn’t soft or malleable

      If you feel more comfortable with straight hair, that's totally okay! You have to do what's best for you!❤

    • @xoxorosequartz
      @xoxorosequartz 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@mari23_13 i agree, i wish the curly hair community was more understanding of that, there’s no point in wearing your hair in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable just because you were born like that.

      I hear ya! I prefer my hair soft, even if that means less hold. Unlike some curlies and wavies, I avoid “grit” products and only use things that keep my hair feeling nice. ❤

    • @xoxorosequartz
      @xoxorosequartz 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LibbyRoseEmbroidery i think i might have high porosity hair because my hair seems to rough regardless of if i use hold products or not, i have been really digging the brushed out wavy look recently though

      @@xoxorosequartz Mine is high porosity too, because it's coloured. I find it feels softer and smoother if I style it a bit (although not always with product beyond a bit of cream or leave in). Good conditioner and a weekly bond treatment has transformed my hair from rough, dry and dull to shiny, soft and beautifully wavy. 😃

    I "discovered" your channel soon into my curly hair journey (13 months curly today) and your videos have been super helpful.
    I did take a photo of my hair every month and did a reel with those - I love how my hair changed. I also kept notes on my washdays for the first 6 months.
    It is a journey and I really an enjoying the ride! 😊

    It's also important to note that the Curly Girl Method as written by Lorraine Massey only works for people like her with her same hair situation. My fine hair and oily scalp breaks all the rules and trying to cowash, then deep condition, then slather on curl cream and gel would make my hair look and feel HORRIBLE.

    • @williamhowerton744
      @williamhowerton744 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That's the bad part of having curly hair is that no two persons curls are the same. Best advice to give you is stop watching videos like this because it will depress you. Find a routine and product your hair likes and stick with it. Hair tutorials are like cooking shows. Everything the performers do comes out looking fabulous, but when you try it, it looks like shit even if you do exactly what they did and use same products.

    The biggest thing you helped me with was that it takes time. Time to get your styling techniques and preferred products right and also getting used to what you look like with curly or wavy hair. Like you I find it weird to see myself with straight hair now and rarely blow it out, plus I miss the feel of my ringlets if that makes sense ❤ thanks for all your words of advice and encouragement Hanz ❤

    Thank you. I like what you said about the comparison trap! I think I'm slowly getting better results but the difference isn't as marked as at the start of my curl journey so don't get as many compliments. That makes me think it's worse but it actually isnt. I've reached a bit of a plateau with progress as I'm unwilling to put in much more time and I can only afford cheapish products. Also I've changed my brush styling and find it really hard to do on one side!!!

    • @hanzcurls

      Glad it was helpful! Ahh yes people have most likely got used to you with curly hair now so probably think it looks great all the time regardless of how you see it! I've done a few budget friendly vids recently, also wash now, style later and my mousse only videos may help on the time-saving part!

    Hi Hannah can you please do a video on using curl cream,foam and gel. I tend to comb the foam in to separate curl clumps on curly hair. Then use gel to make the curls last longer. A great tip you can try is once you put all the products in. Sleep with your hair up, then the next day scrunch out the hard gel cast then. This i finds sleeping with your cast in overnight, tends to make the curls last longer! If you could please try this and do a video about it, i would appreciate it. Let me know please if this helps or for anyone with curly hair!? And Hannah you have lovely curly hair 🥰

    In my experience, I don't use products with ALCOHOL on my fine curls: it made ALL the difference. Foams, products to style them, etc. they often have alcohol, which DRIES my hair.

    This is day two of embracing my 2a/2b/2c hair. I have always blow dried and brushed it straight because I was convinced it was just frizzy "horse hair" as my dad called it since middle school. If I didn't want the volume I would straighten it after.
    Now knowing better a few years ago I think it's due time I started seeing what my hair looks like more naturally at 34 years old (I also stopped dying my hair last year after 23 years of bleaching and dying 🙃)
    I have a learning curve ahead, but that's part of the fun isn't it 😉

      Mine is currently 2a-2c, I’m 49 so been straightening it for a long time 😂 I’m wondering how curly it will go? Everyone I’ve seen ends up with it much curlier so ‘we’ could end up in the 2c/3a category??!! 🎉

    I’m keen to know how many curly pattern levels up most people go once they embrace their curly hair? I’ve been straightening my hair my whole adult life and it’s now a 2a/b (top level) to a 2c, even 3a underneath? Does anybody know? I’m guessing one, possibly 2 steps up?? Maybe just for the more damaged top layer??

    My hair dresser won't cut my hair dry. I have wavy and curly hair that is dry, coarse and thick. I can't stand not washing it every day. My curls frizz by the end of the day.

      I just say wavy curly as I have a mix of curl patterns and the number doesn’t matter when choosing products. My hair is medium thickness (individual strands) and medium density

      Looks more like 3a with perhaps a bit of 2c but I have 2c and 3a and my hair tends to be more on the wavy side. Perfect recipe for frizz. 2c, frizziest, 3a frizziest of all 3 category.

    Comparison… just take the time to really look around and realize that people do not walk around with perfectly styled hair all day everyday ;)
    Also, just play around with imperfections… its just hair after all! If you play with, and accept, different levels of definition vs volume and, yes, frizz! Thats when you really learn to wear curly hair! Otherwise its like trying to keep a wild animal into a cage…
