I recently levelled up my Neovolkite weapon during PvE operation runs up to Relic. When my choice of class was taken too often by strangers (Vanguard) I had no choice other than to use the Assault/Power Fist to keep levelling this new gun. Chosen difficulty/operation was Lethal/Inferno. My mode of play, which was pretty successful, was also a bit counter-intuitive: I almost never performed melee attacks and instead used the neovolkite to do damage. When big mobs of Tyranid Warriors appeared the use of the Ground Pound was of course mandatory but apart from that initiating melee attacks with the power fist, unless you only face a single opponent, will leave you incapacitated on the ground as a multitude of opponents will shoot you to death. Nevertheless I got stuck in to draw attention to me so that snipers/heavies would have an easier time to pick their targets. In essence the main avenue to do damage was with gun strikes. Block the path of Tyranid Warriors so that the team mates can do their thing and then perform endless gun strikes to grind down the opponents.
Same here, i really wanted to Main the powerfist on both classes that can use it... but its just pretty much cool asf but sadly kinda useless. Rly hope it gets worked on to make it viable. Also wouldn't say no to lightning claws as long as they are not simply underwhelming.
I'm very pleased to see you've turned to Lore Master Luetin 09 for your information. In my opinion he is the greatest source to get a thorough knowledge of the entire history of 40k. I hope he masses a larger following in the future. He certainly deserves.
I feel like for several of the classes (assault, bulwark, sniper, and heavy) they could stand to tweak numbers to give each weapon option its own identity. A lot of them just feel like better/worse/faster/slower versions of the same weapon. When they should be weapons that fill different niches and deal with different enemy types better/worse
IMO I think increasing the Power Wave distance on this from 4 to 8 meters puts it into a decent space. The cleave is huge, so you can mulch crowds of Minoris enemies pretty well with a single charged attack.
Hi, i have all classes on 25 for a while now & 300+ hours on the game. The issue isnt the Power fist being underwhelming, its melee in generell. Saber needs to rework the way u can sustain yourself & buff the the melee dmg in generel

Fervently upvoted for not just the content, which I'm interested in - real life has kept me from playing the game much lately - but oh yes thank you for your honesty about being new to Warhammer 40k, I mostly deal with fantasy stuff (Total War Warhammer 3, actually) but I'm no better than a dabbler myself. I recognize 'power fist' more from Fallout than 40k, and I only know the power sword well because of 40k Darktide the Vermintide successor. We are brothers in arms. Take care out there!
I love the power fist. it offers great mobility and speed with pretty okay single target damage. It's also the only weapon that gives you stun immunity by default, and if used properly can make you almost unkillable as you can replenish armor with your 4th and 5th combo attacks.
It really wouldn't take much tweaking to turn it into either a single-target liquifier or to boost the shockwave into a crowd-control like it says it should be.
As someone who’s a professional Warhammer player and a super lore aficionado, don’t let the med table sweats gatekeep you when it comes to getting the name of something wrong. The true 40 K community welcome new people getting into it and we should all have a laugh when someone mistakes a name since they’re all kind of goofy and over the top anyways. Keep on digging into leuton09 and making killer videos! I’m gonna try and link up and join the discord the game down with you lads!
I feel like, powerfist should be the stabbing version of thunder hammer, just as much damage to single targets. But, it isn’t swinging side to side. That’s what the heavy attack is for. Heavy attacks finishing off attack strings with a ground pound, knocking enemies around you back. If you charge the first normal attack, it does each consecutive attack charged, even the slam which now does bigger AoE push and damage.
Increase direct damage. Add a fairly large Shockwave to the area behind where you strike, dealing halfish damage and/or staggering enemies. Lean toward it being the dualing weapon it is meant to be with sprinkled in add control
Uh I believe it's called the ENERGY FIST, TV, you CASUAL! Seriously though, thanks for the candid review. You almost never steered me wrong in Destiny and that continues in Warhammer
so i just posted a video hitting the big parts of today's update, but I definitely will revisit the power fist and see how the damage increase changes things
I was actually curious how the powerfist was when I started my Assault class a few days ago. The assault class is definitely going to need to get a bit of love overall.
If you're going for lroe vids, Arbitor Ian is short and succinct! Anyway, still waiting for that patch to make the thunder hammer good. I'll main the power axe if it gets added too.
Proposal. Thunder first moved closer single target dueling with larger parry window (similar to knife) this fits better with lore and gives assault a dueling weapon
It wants us to charge it, but if you start charging on anything above normal the horde will chew through you and just about you release it the warrior will go into a red attack.
The powerfist is awesome. But to see how effective it is you really need to get good at parrying. it pushes back all around you. Thats what makes it great for hordes. I main this in highest difficulty but fencing version. I often leave combat with full armour and health
Yea if you pick fencing weapon and just parry + GUNSTRIKE fights become manageble, but my friend, what it has to do with the powerfist? What you described is any fencing weapon on assault class, which is why assault sucks in the first place
One thing I do that helps with my powerfist is popping the banner with the bulwark with the powerfist perk that heavy attacks fill contested health cause thats a cheap full heal in a pinch
Courage and Honour TV, completely agree with you here that changea are needed with the fist. A lot of the time it just feels like the melee whiffs and it just doesn't provide a satisfying experience
This is the last week of September and I haven't seen anything about their September update. My ultrawide still has big black bars of sadness on the sides.
Lore of the Deathwatch -The Fist of Dragos is an over-charged Power Fist, prone to violent overloads, that was once wielded by the successful Brother Dragos of the Long Watch. Dragos was never satisfied with the performance of his wargear. After every engagement, he would return to the Chapter forges and beseech the Techmarines to make adjustments and modifications. The Techmarines protested that such tinkering would offend the Machine Spirits, but given Dragos's victories in the field, his wishes were usually granted. His obsession was finally ended when his overcharged meltagun exploded in his hand as he attacked an Ork Dreadnought. His power fist was recovered intact along with his mangled body. Only in death does duty end.FOR THE EMPEROR!!!
It's just the least interesting melee weapon in my opinion. Power Sword and Chain Sword are both just beastly looking weapons. Combat Knife is supposed to be a dagger but in the hands of a space marine, it's a big as a machete. Power Fist is just an oversized fist. Not very interesting but still able to put in work for those who like to use it. I will get it to relic tier eventually but is very likely to be the last one I level up.
I've maxed out the power fist recently, it's so much fun to use for a while but you quickly realize as you go up difficulties with it that it just doesn't do enough AoE damage and taking on hordes with it just isn't viable. Where it shines is one on one fights but all the best fists for parrying are so slow at swinging that you often get interrupted with your combos. The chain sword is much more diverse, it can manage groups of enemies with the stomp combo and the swings are fast enough to chain some good attacks on 1v1 fights. It's a real shame because it's the closest thing we have atm to lighting claws which I want to role play as Raven guard... BRING US LIGHTNING CLAWS
"Bukwark" отлично использует powerfist, так как контролем мелочи занимается с чёт перка на отталкивание и урона по области после парирования. На больших сложностях у элитны много очков здоровья и бить их через лёгкую атаку и пинок - такое себе удовольствие. А применение " powerfist" на максимальной сложности можно посмотреть на канале Mr. Slid-er
Man this weapon was the one I was looking forward to... I was so disappointed by it. I REALLY hope they will buff it. Thanks for making this video to confirm my feelings about it.
My thoughts on power fist are similar to my thoughts on assault. Is it cool? Yeah! Is it good? No. Will I play with the it? Yeah! On ruthless/substantial? Heck no. lol. Side note, I think the power sword should be available for assault. The ability to recover contested health and ability to cc with no long drawn out charging, are both things which assault desperately needs.
Maybe the weapon is bad, or maybe its AoE is bugged. I would prefer if it was the latter so there's hope for it to be a good weapon. The guys below also made a great point that the power fist in the board game and lore is more of an anti-vehicle and anti-monster weapon. I would love to see a rework that transforms it into a bossing tool, like a heavy version of the combat knife. So far, we don't have such an option for the Thunder Hammer or Power Sword (excluding the normal mode). I appreciate you researching the weapon and suffering through it. This does spare me from investing into a weapon that will just hurt me in the long run
also, as a diehard true-blue warhammer ubernerd, don't sweat getting the lore or names or anything right. We all gotta start somewhere, and keeping all the names and meanings in your head is basically impossible. Hell, a huge number of superfans get a whole lot of things wrong all the time.
As much as I disagree with people coming into a fandom and demanding things change, I also take issue with people giving others a hard time for being new. Everyone has to start somewhere. I became a fan with the original Space Marine game 13 years ago, and I'm sure there's a brand new generation of people like yourself in a similar situation.
i've been maxing assault (still dk why ppl complain about difficulty since you can clear ruthless at lvl 10) the thunderhammer to enjoyable but those little time windows are either bait or no forgiveness, if you charge an attack, there's a 100% chance your ennemy will always hit earlier if he's close, making them almost unusable if you have low HP, a 0.1 second animation buff would help
I don't know why they tried to make the power fist a crowd control weapon. It's supposed to be a slow, cumbersome anti-tank/anti-monster type weapon. Considering the power sword and thunder hammer both fill the crowd control niche quite well, it should've been the dedicated "anti-character" weapon, focused almost entirely on single target (with a little splash, sure) damage.
It's nice on paper but the aoe needs a fix likewise its unique ability. I think the power fist biggest perk imho is the immunity to knockback which really is not working. The charge attacks doesnt need to be hold that long once you hear the charge sound that's treated as heavy attack.
Lore wise the powerfist is meant to be an anti-elite style weapon similar to the thunder hammer. They are both relatively unwieldy weapons that hit very hard. The thunder hammer usually penetrates armour a bit better, but the Powerfist is easier to use. For instance in the current edition of 40k, both the thunder hammer and Powerfist on a Space Marine have 3 Attacks, Strength 8, Armour Piercing -2, and Damage 2. The difference is that the Thunderhammer suffers a -1 to hit compared to the fist, but has a chance to almost completely ignore a targets defences. Say for instance on my Chaos Lord I setup as a melee beat stick, I have both because they have different roles. If I am attacking something really tough and want to maximise the damage that goes through, I go with the thunderhammer, but if their defences are a bit weaker I will use the fist for the greater accuracy. I have no idea what its role in SM2 is supposed to be.
Not sure if you’ve already done a heavy setup(I don’t think you have) but could you do a video on them? Just started a heavy class would like to see what you do with it
Power fist I’m works better as Vangaurd rather than Assault or even Bulwark PS: just modify your FOV from the default 73.4 to like 90. Helps a lot. Just be sure to also change your sprint FOV to 100 from 85 or else it will be jarring
The first thing that jumps out at me is the fact that the chain sword is rated the same as a melee wrap here. That's crazy. The powerfist should be more powerful than the thunder hammer and a bit faster
Ehh strongly disagree on the Hammerfist being the worst of the melee weapons to take on Chaos. I give that honor to the Thunder Hammer. The Powerfist was the first weapon I axed out on my Assault, so maybe I’m just a lot more proficient with it than other weapons now, but outside of the Chainsword, and Power Sword, I’d slide the Powerrfist in 3rd for melee weapons. I put it above the Combat Knife, and Thunder Hammer.
Damn sucks to hear about the power fist, I was looking forward to trying it when I levelled assault. Also don't worry too much about getting names wrong, Warhammer fans are just more likely to be the kinds of people to be unnecessarily pedantic. As long as we can tel what you're talking about it's fine. Also great to hear the game has gotten you into 40k lore *one of us, one of us*
The Power Fist should have been given to the Tactical class. On the tabletop the upside of the PF is allowing you to have a primary ranged weapon. So in the end you have something good at range against horde and in cc something to deal with strong opponents making this class a jack of all trades.
the 1 thing the powerfist does better than thunder hammer is dodging and that is very important for assault since our best build revolves around gunstriking things
I enjoy using it but it would be great if it have better AoE… still fun to use. The charged attack perk in the tree is weak and as much as I would love to use it more I only pull it out for fun as the hammer just out plays it in every aspect.
Absolutely needs a rework. Man, I want it to be good so badly 😢 I have so many models painted up with them and jump packs ... I NEED it to be good. Lol PLEASE for the love of Sanguinius!
Honestly why the power-fist ground-slam doesnt pop a "shock zone" for 1.5 seconds is beyond me that is what I really should do and would mek it an atractive option on bulwark too. Moreover id like for the glove to generate "zone" type damage each time it does a hit either in the horizontal or vertical plane so it hits one "hit-box" with full force and near by "hit-boxes" with say 0.5 or 0.25 spalsh damage. Note; I thinnk the game needs quite a few fixes after playing it over 100 hrs now. Dificulty scaling ramps too drasticly for 40k "fanbois" coming from the minis game. I was boosting two "wargasmers" in Purple and they were getting WRKD. They were wanting to come play "for fun". The hord "screems" need tuning for each difficulty so that at lower difficulty swarms are much rarer. The push forward combat model needs tuning (something like if you have full armor you get a small amount of "heal" on an execute. Gun-Strike needs more work. Distance kills need to ALSO provide gun-stike opertunities in some way. I could go on and on. I can play the gmae as it is sure but I think a wider appeal is also something to stive for.
Don't let the internet bully you. You don't need to know an ounce of lore to love and be good at this video game. You don't even need it for painting or playing the table top. It does elevate those experiences to 11 if you do though!
trouble is it is never worth clicking melee on a melee weapon in any situation in this game outside of an emergency minoris gun strike which any white rarity sprinting attack will do your melee is a parry button and NOTHING else. it is always better and fastter toempty your sidearm in the enemies face

When my choice of class was taken too often by strangers (Vanguard) I had no choice other than to use the Assault/Power Fist to keep levelling this new gun. Chosen difficulty/operation was Lethal/Inferno. My mode of play, which was pretty successful, was also a bit counter-intuitive:
I almost never performed melee attacks and instead used the neovolkite to do damage. Block the path of Tyranid Warriors so that the team mates can do their thing and then perform endless gun strikes to grind down the opponents.
thank you ! for showing the ground shake weapon perk - was looking to see if it was worth trying to get 6:16
Same here, i really wanted to Main the powerfist on both classes that can use it... but its just pretty much cool asf but sadly kinda useless. Rly hope it gets worked on to make it viable. Also wouldn't say no to lightning claws as long as they are not simply underwhelming.
This is exactly how I feel about it too.
was thinking about leveling power first. gonna hold off on that for a little bit after watching this vid. thanks.
I'm very pleased to see you've turned to Lore Master Luetin 09 for your information. In my opinion he is the greatest source to get a thorough knowledge of the entire history of 40k. I hope he masses a larger following in the future. He certainly deserves.
Welcome to 40K, it’s a great community and you’re more welcome here.
Powerfist just got a nice buff today!
Hard disagree. This is some of the most satisfying melee game play I've experienced in a long while
@DankyMcJangles it's still super under powerd In higher difficulty guns are just better the meele needs a buff because it's not enough
@@CalebO-l6c I'm having no difficulties in ruthless operations. I don't feel underwhelmed at all, aside from the power fist, and that's only somewhat due to it not functioning as intended. The chain sword and the combat knife are fantastic, as is, but I haven't tried the TH at all since I use it in Darktide. I've seen plenty of vids of people dominating ruthless with it though
@@DankyMcJangles My guy, it's mash r1, hold r1, and click down r3. Yours is the wild take I doubt you're playing on ruthless. Contested health shouldn't be an afterthought on some weapons most can not fight through that much chip damage.
@@SavageTengu I am, in fact, playing on ruthless. I love how your argument is "hE mUsT bE lYiNg AbOuT dIfFiCuLtY." Thanks for your contribution to the discussion 🤦♂
What do you think of it now with 3.0
I love the power fist. it offers great mobility and speed with pretty okay single target damage. It's also the only weapon that gives you stun immunity by default, and if used properly can make you almost unkillable as you can replenish armor with your 4th and 5th combo attacks.
but also I dislike the power sword so maybe I'm just weird.
Now the patch came, the power fist lives up to its name
It really wouldn't take much tweaking to turn it into either a single-target liquifier or to boost the shockwave into a crowd-control like it says it should be.
The power fist lacks stagger on charged attacks and AoE overall. That slam radius is a joke, I hope this is just a bug.
As a crimson fist fan, its a must have 😊.
Maybe but I think it’s really fucking cool how u can have a huge arm and the other to shoot and guard
Increase direct damage. Add a fairly large Shockwave to the area behind where you strike, dealing halfish damage and/or staggering enemies. Lean toward it being the dualing weapon it is meant to be with sprinkled in add control
I wanted to love power fist. I really did. But it was an abusive relationship. I gave everything; the power fist gave nothing.
Uh I believe it's called the ENERGY FIST, TV, you CASUAL!
Seriously though, thanks for the candid review. You almost never steered me wrong in Destiny and that continues in Warhammer
Came back here after the updates, LETS GOOOO
I'd like to hear your thoughts after today's update, the damage buff seems quite significant.
so i just posted a video hitting the big parts of today's update, but I definitely will revisit the power fist and see how the damage increase changes things
Thunder hammer isn’t bad, it’s better than the fist lol but I would absolutely take a buff assault is so fun
Second this. Arbitor Ian has great videos on the legions specifically
well thought up review. I hope Saber watches the video and implements some fixes/tweaks
I just started using the fist,so far its amazing, just spam heavies and you kill everything fast af
One thing I do that helps with my powerfist is popping the banner with the bulwark with the powerfist perk that heavy attacks fill contested health cause thats a cheap full heal in a pinch
with the stacking perk that heavy attacks dont flinch
Courage and Honour TV, completely agree with you here that changea are needed with the fist. A lot of the time it just feels like the melee whiffs and it just doesn't provide a satisfying experience
Thank you for this. I started with the power sword and then tried to level up the fist. IT SUCKS and is no fun.
This is the last week of September and I haven't seen anything about their September update. My ultrawide still has big black bars of sadness on the sides.
New or not, i love the videos! I am new to it too so we get to experince the brutal reality that is the 40k universe!
AS A DIE HARD WARHAMMER FAN
Welcome, take your time, ask questions, get comfy, and enjoy!
for the powerfist to become useful, every single regular blow should be a charged one and they should be as fast as not charge attack
"Bukwark" отлично использует powerfist, так как контролем мелочи занимается с чёт перка на отталкивание и урона по области после парирования. На больших сложностях у элитны много очков здоровья и бить их через лёгкую атаку и пинок - такое себе удовольствие. А применение " powerfist" на максимальной сложности можно посмотреть на канале Mr. Slid-er
Letting us combo the canon punch into more canon punches would be a neat niche
6:43 that little guy looking like “man wtf this dude doing” 😂
hard hitting? no
crown control ? no
long reach? no
fast combo? no
looks cool? yes!yes!yes!
I use it with the Bulwark. It works for me with that class.
The recent patch fixed the damage.
The power sword is the best all-around melee weapon imo.
They devs need to understand the "I CAST FIST" fantasy!
Gonna have to redo this one now that they buffed it after today's patch.
Just started a heavy class would like to see what you do with it
Power fist I’m works better as Vangaurd rather than Assault or even Bulwark
PS: just modify your FOV from the default 73.4 to like 90.
This man said the attacks is so bad it has to be bugged. Im crying
"Damage in a 10m radius"
Meanwhile a Hormagunt stands unscathed like 1m away
As a long time 40k nerd. I welcome you to the world! Don’t pay the naysayers no mind we can just particular about things sometimes lol
Also great to hear the game has gotten you into 40k lore *one of us, one of us*
I love the power fist. Its just so damn satisfying.
And just like that power fist got a big buff 😂
You literally woke up and chose to speak facts, Brother.
Wearing power fist is like you're Saitama inside the power armour
I enjoy using it but it would be great if it have better AoE… still fun to use. The charged attack perk in the tree is weak and as much as I would love to use it more I only pull it out for fun as the hammer just out plays it in every aspect.
Absolutely needs a rework. Man, I want it to be good so badly 😢 I have so many models painted up with them and jump packs ... I NEED it to be good. Lol PLEASE for the love of Sanguinius!
Hello any update one when are they going to fix join games with friends. Because so far have no able to play with my friends.
Use it to enjoy the power fantasy.
Power fist having power is a fantasy, there I fixed it 😂
Dagger best melee!❤
Don't let the internet bully you. You don't need to know an ounce of lore to love and be good at this video game. You don't even need it for painting or playing the table top. It does elevate those experiences to 11 if you do though!
trouble is it is never worth clicking melee on a melee weapon in any situation in this game outside of an emergency minoris gun strike
which any white rarity sprinting attack will do
your melee is a parry button and NOTHING else.
it is always better and fastter toempty your sidearm in the enemies face
Yeah, it needs a huge rework. Such a sick weapon. It really sucks from being a long time fan.
