Can you say if the third core perk affect range damage? I see the guide but I have a doubt about that perk effect on charge attacks, don't know if only affect melee.
@@emrockerstilish Overcharge does not boost plasma shots and only affects charged melees. Go load into a mission shoot a ranged major with it on and off to test it yourself. (Melee majors have ranged damage resist.)
@@Zerosixious Yes perk description is somehow misleading, we need to have an arena where we can make damage calculation on different type of enemies like in dartide.
As someone leveling the plasma incinerator i am a believer: the weapon is cut from a fabric like no other in the game, its insane how powerful it feels
I've got mine up to artificer and have been working on it all week. I feel like my survivability suffers with the heavy plasma compared to the melta. I feel like the meta is able to get me out of more situations than the plasma. But maybe I should try the one with higher fire rate like video author because so far I've been going with higher ammo version all the way across.
I wish the heavy's primary weapons could come with block/balance/fencing since they don't get a melee weapon. Because regardless of how well you play, you will find yourself in melee situations regularly
As long as you get the timing right, it's actually super easy to parry with the Heavy, so getting lots of gun-strikes on enemies is a great way of dealing damage in melee.
The heavy weapons are technically balance weapons already. With gunstrikes and back pedaling the melta is the best weapons for slaughtering the hordes by yourself. You’re the most capable with a melta
I prefer plasma that gives extra ammo, and the perks for plasma are: bottom until the perk that decreases ammo usage of charged shots by 2 (which is crazy good 40% more ammo conservation for charged shots), and then go for the top row. This allows not to worry about ammo, like at all. Which also allows to choose in the character team perk ranged damage reduction (which is the best choice, imo), instead of more ammo capacity. As for the rate of fire I've noticed that you use heavy stance only when charging. If you need rate of fire against manoris you also can use heavy stance for it, with the weapon perks that I've described your rate of fire is also very high in heavy stance, even with plasmas that don't have a rate of fire focus on them.
@@J.B.1982 Because it has been tested and confirmed. People began to question it because the icon for the perk is a stomp and sure enough it was confirmed it only affects melee stomps

Been using this for a while, got it in PVP as well and the charged shot seems to oneshot some people (or at least close) in PVE, the bolt weapons are meant for headshots, the bodyshot damage is a lot lower. I enjoy the plasma incinerator a lot because it's a little versatile, the single shots have a minor aoe blast as well and work vs the minoris while the charged shots, my goodness....
Top Damage on Ruthless for me with a Heavy Bolter was 27,300something damage. If the team is not slacking my damage is around 20k. Every thing on the heavy is viable, Melta a little less so just because its outranged by the other primaries. I just prefer the Heavy Bolter because you pretty much have zero downtime. You got ammo? you can shoot.
2 reasons. First, you never want your back to a wall in this game. It just takes one major in the wings shooting vines to trap you in there to take a ton of unnecessary damage. So I'm repositioning so my back is to the cave just in case I need room to work with. Second reason, I talk later in the video about smart ammo use. I just got in a habit of trying to keep everything in front of me so I can get the most splash damage possible with each shot. Taking a little scratch from a gaunt or two is no big deal anyway, we were never in any real danger in that clip were we?
This video was posted before Lethal came out. And then I used this build to complete every mission on Lethal and posted the footage for the record right here on the channel.
It's a bit subjective, Heavy can actually solo ruthless with all 3 weapons and all 3 of them are pretty good. Melta just starts out easy from the get go.
I dont really care for the incinerator simply because the ammo economy is doodoo- you really have to babysit the ammo box(melta has nearly infinite ammo and the heavy Bolger has a huge reserve)
had a dude in a game that had a full on Go at me becuase i wasn't using the melta or plasma. people like that need to go back to sweaty battle royale games and let people play how they want, REAL SOLDIERS KNOW HOW TO BE EFFECTIVE WITH ANYTHING!
I hate the travel time of the plasma blasts. I feel the enemy dog so often AND the amount of times the shots just don't register. Heavy bolter forever.
sorry man, 50 rounds on the multi melta and being able to infinitely stagger a pack of majors is just too op, ill leave the single target damage to everyone else
Right? I can single handedly take a dozen warriors my self with a melta. Take out all the accompanying gaunts too. Good luck doing that with anything else
I tried it before the update. Only used it once and never tried again. Now I tried it day 1 of the update and my God it was night and day. I haven't used the melta since the update. So good. Definitely try it if you haven't.
Pick up the slack where? I clear everything solo in ruthless with multi melta easily.. What are u saying? Heavy Plasma is OP too but why would you ever even need a team if u got multi melta?
Sorry if I didn't make it clear, brought it up twice in the video though that the Melta rifle's damage output against single targets is a fraction of the Plasma's. It's literally not close. The Plasma cooks mobs just as well as the Melta, can do it from much further away, and like I showed multiple times in the gameplay you can even pick the sniper off in the back of the room without having to make your way over to them. It's just got far more versatility than the melta.
@@TrueVanguard yea ik it can 1 shot majoris, but Melta still erases majoris too, every shot is an automatic stagger too, you just have to know how to conserve ammo, but when you already have the plasma pistol it's kind of pointless having heavy plasma cuz that thing can put majoris into execution stage in 2 shots too from even further then the heavy plasma. But I mean I agree it's a nasty gun, just don't agree how weak u try to make the melta seem to hype it, multi melta is the best gun in the game and easily handles everything. A lot of people don't know how crazy good the plasma pistol is, I see people not using it right or using bolt pistol when plasma pistol is by far one of the best weapons in the game period. Fully charges shots have all the range and damage..
I loooove the heavy plasma incinerator since the changes. But I have to say, after experimenting a LOT with builds for this, imo going full bottom row on the weapon is the play. The -2 cost for charged shots is so good, and the increased projectile speed makes it so much better at sniping those sentries. Spamming charged shots is silly damage. My favourite mission to farm on heavy is the one with the giant dragon, because you can kill it so fast, it's silly damage. You can go a hybrid build to pick up the cost reduction and a bit of the extra charge time reduction, but I actually feel this is worse than it seems, because you really want to stay above 50% heat for the extra damage, so charging faster actually doesn't add much DPS since you have to wait the same amount of time between the shots so you don't overheat.
@@webbc99 While I’ve run the projectile speed before and it does feel good, you give up 20% damage on charged shots (2top line perks) and therefore miss a crucial breakpoint of 1 charged shot to put a ranged majoris into execute.
Me too, i find the overheat perk is next to useless, especially for plasma, by the time you get 50% heat, either you shoot a few more common shot or lob a big shot and wait for vent. Rather have the more health, since you need to tank. For weapon perk, yes, bottom seems better, you can sustain your dps longer.
I use the melta when i know i gotta carry people in ruthless jsut so i can keep crowds under control and that overheal going, if i dont gotta carry, ill run either heavy bolter or plasma incinerator and jsut shred. I do feel like the plasma incinerator needs a slightly largely blast radius effect tho
I run top row plasma perks when I *have* to carry because it lets the gun larp as a melta when you go into heavy stance. I usually don't bother with heavy stance, but when you have 5+ majoris about to be in your face, you have to get your stagger aoes dropped before they stagger you, cuz single shots won't save you from multiple whip tyranids.
Gonna be real, post-patch, the Melta isn't even good. I don't want you clearing out all of the minoris, they are a source of effectively infinite health because I can just parry them constantly to refill armour. The real dangerous enemies are now the ranged enemies that are too far away to hit with a melta or melee, and they can't be parried of course. The plasma is perfect for sniping them. Melta clears out the little guys in melee, now I'm getting annihilated by ranged attacks with no source of armour nearby.
I made a heavy thats decked out in red white and blue with eagles everywhere and most importantly I use the Armour with the two skulls and a bone hanging between your legs. Yea they gave the heavy truck nuts....its the perfect MERICA heavy armor and I just laugh everytime I see it. Yes its dumb no I don't care lol
a mean is fun to use the heavy plasma, and aim to the majoris and kill it, but for me the sniper is where I have fun in that aspect, one shotting majoris and thousand sons, but I don't know I just like the melta, when you go heavy stance and you just spray that thing, is just so satisfying and damage buff, and yes I have all classes max and both melta and plasma max, and is not that i cant aim, but is just more of a preference I suppose.
Heavy bolter is un-ironically one of the good boltgun in the game, along with stalker / bolt GL / PLASMA and melta....it fix the problem of 70% of boltgun in the game by having alot of ammo to compensate for peashooting damage i want to love heavy bolt rifle but 50 rounds and only 240 reserve, i will go empty after 4 majoris (all aiming at the head) and ammo box only give back 1 mag instead of 2-3 mags.
thank you, i'd definitely recommend taking 10 minutes just to make a basic template for yourself to modify for your streams. that way you don't get someone reporting your channel and potentially ruining your monetization potential.
@@TrueVanguard I suggest you train on it. Using the high mag plasma pistol and those perks is a blast. Also good in clearing and increased efficiency on both plasma.
@@martinsauer8431 It's not really a training issue, I use the plasma pistol on plenty other builds. Like it said, it's preference. Having a second plasma weapon in this build feels redundant and unnecessary to me, I just prefer to have a reliable hitscan secondary with this setup personally.
This was 3 weeks ago before the balancing patch ruined this game. This is not the game I purchased and I feel cheated. Really sucks. I loved this game.
venting speed actually affects max heat capacity, so you can fire more shots consecutively before needing to cool off, this might be practically higher fire rate than the firerate version(which seems geared toward uncharged use).
Fire rate affects charge speed (-0.45s) for the relic version which is huge. The problem with the venting speed gun is that you basically can’t get above 50% overheat for the damage buff. IMO being able to put out burst damage when needed with 1-3 charged shots in like 1.3s (or less) each depending on build is so much stronger than just putting out several more charged shots but at like 1.8s or greater each. 2 charged shots will wipe any non boss enemy in the game so that’s all you need.
Objectively, heavy plasma has more DPS than any other weapon in the game, by a lot. It’s like 50% more than the next highest, and that’s to single targets, it also deals that DPS in a huge AOE. This is indisputable now from the datamined weapon data.

in PVE, the bolt weapons are meant for headshots, the bodyshot damage is a lot lower.
Yah but the meltas the best when they’re in your face. Like most horde shooters tend to play
I didn't use it cus of the ammo spenditure. But now ima finished leveling it
Currently my heavy class is definitely the lowest level. After i finish bulwark ill properly try it out
Good heavy bolter build?
got one right here: th-cam.com/video/Tf6unNsEHbg/w-d-xo.html
I will use melta until my Salamander gets a proper flamer
How come you keep dodging at 1:30 instead of just parrying the gaunts and insta-kill them?
Good video , cheers
I need this tested on Lethal before I can take it seriously
This video was posted before Lethal came out. And then I used this build to complete every mission on Lethal and posted the footage for the record right here on the channel.
me who maxed Vanguard and is working on Heavy (level 12 atm) only using Melta "hmm maybe i should change weapons"
It's a bit subjective, Heavy can actually solo ruthless with all 3 weapons and all 3 of them are pretty good. Melta just starts out easy from the get go.
On the 2nd map I still like to use the multi melta then swap to the plasma for the hive tyrant boss
I dont really care for the incinerator simply because the ammo economy is doodoo- you really have to babysit the ammo box(melta has nearly infinite ammo and the heavy Bolger has a huge reserve)
I feel like the Las Fusil should do more damage
It does the most of all the sniper weapons lol. Hit headshots
had a dude in a game that had a full on Go at me becuase i wasn't using the melta or plasma. people like that need to go back to sweaty battle royale games and let people play how they want, REAL SOLDIERS KNOW HOW TO BE EFFECTIVE WITH ANYTHING!
Isnt perk for charged attacks deal 20% more damage only works with melee stomps?
Correct
I hate the travel time of the plasma blasts. I feel the enemy dog so often AND the amount of times the shots just don't register. Heavy bolter forever.
It's not a grenade launcher, it's plasma artillery
Thanks to the buff, the heavy plasma now is a beast as it should be.
sorry man, 50 rounds on the multi melta and being able to infinitely stagger a pack of majors is just too op, ill leave the single target damage to everyone else
"fireteam" I love that he still has that destiny in him 😂
What percentage damage increase is a fully charged plasma shot?
Was my next weapon lvl up.
Go venting speed and get the fire rate increase while in heavy stance since you'll be in that most often then thank me later
I use the melta when i know i gotta carry people in ruthless jsut so i can keep crowds under control and that overheal going, if i dont gotta carry, ill run either heavy bolter or plasma incinerator and jsut shred. I do feel like the plasma incinerator needs a slightly largely blast radius effect tho
overheal hasnt been a thing for a while now. although melta is still great at recovering contested health normally
Heavy artillery ftw! Also, agree on shooting the floor as the direct hit doesn't do splash damage
Bro your Trials?
Why are they not complete?
Also like all other weapons i don't use the heavy plasma incin cause starting off just sucks
Yeeeehs , plasma chads unite !!
a mean is fun to use the heavy plasma, and aim to the majoris and kill it, but for me the sniper is where I have fun in that aspect, one shotting majoris and thousand sons, but I don't know I just like the melta, when you go heavy stance and you just spray that thing, is just so satisfying and damage buff, and yes I have all classes max and both melta and plasma max, and is not that i cant aim, but is just more of a preference I suppose.
i rather use the heavy bolter, but its fun this weapon time to time. but i haven't found that takes me less effort the match with it
If only we could make our heavies into black Scottish cyclops'
I like it but its such a pain on controller so I’ll skip it for now
Bot comment
FINALLY!!! I’ve been waiting too long for this!!!
Started to use this plasma gun yesterday, it was awesome. Indidnt know if you hit the ground you clear them faster.
Heavy bolter is un-ironically one of the good boltgun in the game, along with stalker / bolt GL / PLASMA and melta....it fix the problem of 70% of boltgun in the game by having alot of ammo to compensate for peashooting damage
i want to love heavy bolt rifle but 50 rounds and only 240 reserve, i will go empty after 4 majoris (all aiming at the head) and ammo box only give back 1 mag instead of 2-3 mags.
Instigator is also pretty solid
@@TrueVanguard oh yeah that one too. it ironically like a strong burst fire of Marksman carbine.
Why is this guy always telling me im doing something wrong?
Gotta try the Plasma now, mastered both Melta and Bolter. And join the Discord when I get back from holiday. Great video man, as always.
It's funny that you're also using the armor set before the final unlocked set, I think it looks way cooler than the max-lvl armor set.
Hey man sorry for using your thumbnail I just googled a thumbnail dint see ur logo there and added to my stream. I have removed it now.😅
thank you, i'd definitely recommend taking 10 minutes just to make a basic template for yourself to modify for your streams. that way you don't get someone reporting your channel and potentially ruining your monetization potential.
You are aware that some of the plasma pistol perks apply to the heavy plasma too? Obviously not.
yes but i greatly prefer the bolt pistol for general ad clear by a landslide
@@TrueVanguard I suggest you train on it. Using the high mag plasma pistol and those perks is a blast. Also good in clearing and increased efficiency on both plasma.
@@martinsauer8431 It's not really a training issue, I use the plasma pistol on plenty other builds. Like it said, it's preference. Having a second plasma weapon in this build feels redundant and unnecessary to me, I just prefer to have a reliable hitscan secondary with this setup personally.
@@TrueVanguard Way to go.
Great stuff, TV! Destiny is good right now tho!
What about sniper deep dive?
I just can’t aim with this damn gun lol
at this point breathing is wrong
What's the benefit of the heavy metal vs the standard on other classes. Playing through the campaign I really couldn't figure out why I would care.
This was 3 weeks ago before the balancing patch ruined this game. This is not the game I purchased and I feel cheated. Really sucks. I loved this game.
venting speed actually affects max heat capacity, so you can fire more shots consecutively before needing to cool off, this might be practically higher fire rate than the firerate version(which seems geared toward uncharged use).
doesn’t fire rate affect charge speed?
@@atlasstoned You can only fire so many shots consecutively before you overheat.
@@atlasstoned nah i tested it you do shoot faster when ur just spamming. but doesnt affect charge
@@atlasstonedyep 😊 fire rate for charge speed
Fire rate affects charge speed (-0.45s) for the relic version which is huge. The problem with the venting speed gun is that you basically can’t get above 50% overheat for the damage buff. IMO being able to put out burst damage when needed with 1-3 charged shots in like 1.3s (or less) each depending on build is so much stronger than just putting out several more charged shots but at like 1.8s or greater each. 2 charged shots will wipe any non boss enemy in the game so that’s all you need.
Imagine having a grav cannon :P
Shoot the ground for splash damage on blocking enemies
Ah Heavy Bolter clears it’s not even close. Shred mobs, majoris, extremis and terminus with ease from any range.
heavy b is the goat 100% aree tried the others its not close
All three of them are great, but HB wins based on pure usability.
Vanguard going from not knowing 40k at all before this game to knowing lore about an obscure successor chapter is so cool to see
Bolter is best. As long as u don't overheat u never die.
Objectively, heavy plasma has more DPS than any other weapon in the game, by a lot. It’s like 50% more than the next highest, and that’s to single targets, it also deals that DPS in a huge AOE. This is indisputable now from the datamined weapon data.
