I hope there is an episode of moving the chickens, I’ve been really wondering how you’ll do it exactly. I guess it’s nice you didn’t need to do it in a rush.

Probably a dog or cat carrier.
At worst you could just pop an empty tub in the back and a blanket over top so they cant fly out. And strap the tub in with seatbelts. Chickens are pretty hardy so even if stressed out during the car ride theyll be fine.

I'd secure a piece of plywood to the top of the truck bed and put them in and take them out through the tailgate. Too many for a pet carrier, it could take multiple trips if they do that.

When we buy our chickens, they get put in small cardboard boxes. They lay down quietly in the dark. We are going to move them a longer distance and then we are gonna use our dog crate with a blanket over.

The other benefit to having the freezers in the basement is for energy conservation which will reduce the amount of times the compressor kicks on which will in turn extend the life of your freezers.

So true about keeping your freezers and different things in the basement. Here if you don't keep your freezer or extra refrigerators inside your home they are not covered under the warranty. The initial warranty and also I have a warranty through my gas company that covers everything in my house and it is voided if it is kept outside. The only way an item can be outside if it is in a controlled environment heated and air conditioned and then it's still under warranty. I'm so excited to see you get to move and your beautiful new home

We lost all of our freezer contents, mostly a whole pig because our freezer died and we didn’t notice it for probably 24 hours. We have two upright large freezers. They are in our basement and I hadn’t gone down there in a couple of days. We now have Wi-Fi thermometers that link to our phones and will notify us if the temp starts to drop. I highly recommend. It’s piece of mind for me.

A great way to remember to turn off the water is have a few colorful elastic wrist bands on your water spigot. When you turn the water on put the wrist band on, when you shut the water off put the wrist band back on the spigot. 🙂

    • @seasonliving6916
      @seasonliving6916 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

@@jeccalou9894 I realize it's not a perfect method, but if the colors of the bands are very bright and there hanging right on the spigot where you turn the water on it might help. Maybe hang a cute sign by the spigot to remind you of the wrist band. You could also put a tag on the wrist band to remind you what it's for. I know sometimes I will be like, now what was I wearing this band for, labeling things helps you to remember each task.

When you get a generator, please, please consider a whole house generator! You’re having a new baby, your freezers etc will thank you! You can decide how big of one you want and what you want to run. We have 3000sf and ours runs everything except the washer/dryer. Ours runs on a 500gal propane tank however if natural gas is available you can have it hooked up to that. Ours will run for 14 days on our propane. We do have it checked and maintenance 4X a year for $50 each visit.

We had a whole house unit put in 2 years ago and it is nice. I am in the Cincinnati Ohio area so our summers are hot and winters are cold . We have had a lot of rain this summer and lost electricity a lot. The entire house comes back on immediately and the ac comes on 5 seconds later. The cost is really minimal. Outs runs on natural gas, but we can switch it over to propane if we need to. We did have a 500 gal propane tank put underground in the back yard. The propane and tank cost more than the generator.

Be sure to compare generators. We live in hurricane prone Louisiana, and hubby used to work for a propane company. During one of our storms, alot of people had problems with their Generac generators. Apparently, they aren't made for days of running. You may not need 3 or 4 days of power, tho. for your deep freezers, you can get magnetic dry erase boards from amazon. and write what is in each one in wet erase marker, the amount you have (#), and the date added. That way you can see what you have at a glance, how old everything is, and how much of each thing you have.
OR you can get butcher paper and some heavy duty magnets, and put a big piece of paper on the top of the freezers. Cross things off as you use them up and then replace it gets filled up instead of erasing them.

The freezers look good there. Personally I’d have just run an extension cord and put them where I wanted, lol, I’m stubborn. Your little basement grocery store is coming along nicely! You’re going to love being able to walk in from the garden with produce and be able to process and store it all right there. I’m guessing it’ll turn into your “studio.” Then you can walk upstairs, close the door, and be home from work. :)

My suggestion for better organization in those deep freezers is to use same colored bags for same kind of meat. One color for chicken pieces, one color for pork etc. Also, would be good idea to have everything printed and attached to freezer. In this case if you take something out your just cross it, and if you put anything in you just add it. Also, dates when it's done. This will help you know how rotation is doing and help to maximize your inventory. Don't forget your support system when you inbox, or unpack things too. It can be as simple as someone to just open up boxes then flatten and stack boxes after you've emptied them. Depending upon the person(s) and furniture it can be someone to go from room to room simply re-assmbling furniture from putting in nuts and bolts to simply putting shelves back into units or removing and stacking any protective coverings; for you, this may have already been done by the movers. Opening boxes, removing and stacking contents in the appropriate room, then flattening and stacking the boxes can be a great help. This also quickly points out boxes that ended up in the wrong room; with or without direction, get your helpers to out boxes in the correct room. And, it points out boxes with a mixed or assortment of items belonging to multiple rooms. Depending, your helpers may even stack and nest things then out them on shelves or in cupboards, out of boxes, off a stack, and/ ormoff the floor. - This may seem inconsequential but it can be a BIG help whether it be a half hour favor and chat time or a multi-hour let's get it all (haha) unpacked effort.

I'm glad to see mom and dad in this video, they always seem like such a delight to hang around. I was physically exhausted just from seeing all the movers moving everything 😄😮‍💨 I'm glad you take the time to have "you" breaks in between it all. Also, "Josh loves vacuums" will probably now get him like 10 new vacuums on the p.o box 😆 Love all your amazing journey, thanks for sharing 💕

It's amazing how much pregnancy changes our energy levels and what we think we can do in a certain amount of time. Your body is working constantly growing that little blessing. My youngest is 9 months old, and everytime I watch one of your videos, I admire how much you still manage to get done while being pregnant. You're doing great! Good job giving yourself some space/time to cool off and breathe a little.

I love the bag idea for the freezer and will be using this idea in the near future. As well as I am now trying to come up with freezer meals after seeing the busy life of moving and how grateful that you are to have them so handy. I am very busy and I don't like to cook when it's dinner time. I would rather cook early in the morning. Well, now I'm leaning towards, just freeze a bunch of meals and pop it in the oven...how convenient is that. I have already started working on this and have several stuffed bell peppers individually packaged so that we can just grab a couple, defrost them, and pop them in the oven. I also took some burgers that I had, added a bag with a couple of buns (i freeze my bread) and packaged those together along with a small batch of fries. Now, I don't have to look for the buns or the fires, they are all together. Thanks for all the great tips. My problem is that I am taking care of two households and convenience is what I need. Making the food ahead of time, now that's going to be the way to go I think. Love watching your channel!

Wow! Great job! So much work! 😱You guys did great. I’m glad you had help. When my little family moved to another state halfway across the country it took us a couple weeks to downsize all our possessions to fit into our cargo trailer, car and RV. What an adventure though and glad we did it. You guys are so blessed! What a beautiful home to move into. 😁It’s so good you’re self aware enough to know when to take a time out (so to speak). So healthy to be able to know when to do that. I’m in my 40’s and I’m still learning that skill! Lol. 👍🏻You’re way ahead of the game. Taking care of ourselves should not be last on the list for sure. 😉

I am always just amazed at how much food Americans store. Your pantry, fridge and freezers would probably have fed my family of 5 for 6 months when I was growing up! This is the case of a lot of US TH-camrs that I follow...
I do fully relate to being pregnant and hangry though. I always joke that if I don't eat for an hour my little one thinks it's a famine and has a teeny baby panic attack, which makes me nauseous and light-headed! You do a LOT and deserve every bit of rest you can get 😉

I know it was mentioned on a previous freezer video, but having a listed inventory near your deep freezers will be an amazing way to track what you have in there. I'm thinking it might take some time for you to get used to (just liking it'll take you time to start labeling things more), but it would definitely help with keeping things from either getting freezer burnt or running out/having too much of it 😊
Soooo happy you guys have finished the actual moving process! Enjoy the new home!!!

Freezer inventory, ugh! Love the hard sided totes, I should check into them. Getting to the bottom is always a nightmare and I only have one, lol. So thankful you hired help, that’s a lot of stuff. Major move, kudos. I know you’re like an energizer bunny but be sure to get some rest. So excited for you. I’ll be looking for a fixer upper with some land in the spring. Is it bad to say I hope the housing bubble busts before I buy? I really don’t want to overpay for property and it’s been outrageous what housing is going for in my area.

It's looking so good already Becky! Get some rest in between. That is a lot of work. How well I know being a Wife of a veteran and us moving so much in the past. It will save you so much money having your freezers down there because it is cooler and that is the main reason a lot of us suggested it. It will also give you a longer life of your freezer because it doesn't have to work as hard in a cooler area.
