Will your house insurance cover the loss of food in your freezer? I would think so. I certainly would look into it. That’s exactly why you pay for house insurance for accidents like this. Like you said, so heartbreaking to have to throw all of it away, wow! I’m so sorry that happened to you guys.

Ladies we are all uniquely and wonderfully made! Gentlemen you too! We appreciate all your supportiveness and hard work!
My husband has to remind me from time to time “Don’t worry about the things you can’t control.”
He refers to me as his “slave driver”😂
I start projects and I don’t like to stop in the middle, I need it completed as I look forward to the end result; that’s what drives me….to drive him-honey, I need help!😂
Often, in my mind I will project getting 5,6,7 or 10 chores/projects done in a day and my time estimations for each task usually takes longer than what I originally anticipated.

All my clothes, I wash, hang dry some n dry the others and hang up everything so I don't need to iron which by the way, I haven't ironed in years. If I needed something ironed hubby takes care of that. 😊n he also washes his own clothes n always have since I met him.

Hey Becky, just a tip on the dog food. You may want to keep it in the original bag and then place the bag in the container. From what I've found, the bag's inner lining is designed to keep the food from going rancid.

I do keep pet food in the original bag in a bucket. I add bay leaves for bug control and dessicants to keep the pet food dry. The other thing people should do, but don't always do with bulk storage containers, is wash the containers. After each bag is used up, wash and dry the container before putting a new bag in. This is especially important for grains like rice. There could be eggs in the grain that will hatch out, if you keep it long enough.

One load of laundry a day changed my life. I watched Dawn from the minimal mom and her laundry system about 2 years ago. It is so much easier doing a load of laundry every day than to let it pile up and do laundry for hours. When we were farming I washed barn clothes everyday because I did not want stinky clothes in the house. I presort my laundry by whites, colored clothes, and grubby clothes. When each basket is full, it goes in the wash machine, dryer, and then put away. Sheets are washed once a week and towels as needed. My husband has always had clean laundry in our 50 years of marriage. The secret of household chores is to do a little everyday instead of letting it pile up.

Please be kind to yourself. Whatever your disaster is, all is fixable whilst we're alive.
You do more in a day than most do in a week. Your primary focus is you - so that you may, in turn, serve the family you created.
Chores are never-ending and will be done whilst we breathe. Don't stress over what hasn't been done. Be grateful for all that you do.
    Take care!

Needless to say all the food was spoiled. Cleaning out the frig and freezer was the most distasteful job I have ever had to do. I feel your pain!

One thing that I’ve found that helps with laundry is wearing my clothes more than once before washing. I usually won’t wash our clothes unless they’re visibly dirty, we were very sweaty in them, they stink or we were doing yard work in them. Obviously, socks and underwear are the exception. I’ve found that by doing this it cuts down on the amount of laundry that needs to be done. It also saves on the wear and tear of the washer and dryer, saves on the water and electric bills and helps prevent the clothes from wearing out prematurely.

Oh boy, do I feel your pain! About this same time last year, my husband did not make sure the freezer was closed and after a couple of days I went out to put a load of food in it. I was devastated. It was awful, our freezer is in an outdoor shed with no cooling system. I live in Florida and the heat in the summer is brutal. I did my very best not to make my husband worse than he already did, because I know it could have just as easily happened to me. I do not have chickens, so most of mine went to the compost. I had a whole years worth of vegetables in there that we had just harvested and processed. I will never forget to double check the freezer door.

WOW! As a newbie to ur channel…enjoyed a freezer meal day video & found couple new recipes I hope to try. We raised 7 kids, 2 nieces and had my brother’s 2 kids often, freezing preps or freezer meals was a norm.
I can kinda see people might be interested n chore days, but rather amazed viewers are interested in the verbal over kill details of ur chores. I guess I’ve swabbed every bodily from every body, cleaned every nook and cranny thousands of times, cooked in vats, homeschooled - haha at most daily I changed 18 diapers a day unless someone did an extra in me. Was CEO, Vice Pres of our business ……. so watching lengthy details of chores 🫤🫠🥱 Might be better to FF w/music & not so much verbal “how ur gonna do them”. Everybody tends hundreds of chores a day.
I will say ur frozen meal video was awesome. It was well thought out, organized, everything was handled w/great attention to food safety, very clean kitchen & ur choice of recipes were very affordable for most people. Ur instructions were clearly given and easy to follow. You also looked beautiful w/great confidence and passion for what you were doing. ❤ 👍

We caught it in time and only had a few things thaw. Not to self: old freezers cannot handle the Texas heat!

Hi Becky, just a heads up in case you have a power failure or happen to leave the freezer door open in the future, if stuff defrost but is still fridge cold you can refreeze it. They changed the regulations on that quite some years ago. If it's room temp then yes a definite don't use but defrosted and still cold can refreeze safely. Commercial kitchens do it all the time. Someone may have gotten more of something out then needed it's been defrosted in the coolroom and then placed back in the freezer a day later.
Hope that helps for any future mishaps because like you say life happens and as much as we try our best to make sure these things don't happen sometimes they still do 😊

Yes, living in South Louisiana, this is normal during hurricane season for us. For Hurricane Ida we were without power for 12 days. We have a generator but, with the high cost of fuel, we only ran it at night. This was enough to keep the freezer in the kitchen and the three freezers in the garage frozen. I had a side of beef, 15 meat birds, 100 lbs of shrimp, and 50 lbs of fish that was I determined to save.

Normally sold through mom and pop stores (no big box stores) and there’s no price difference in different retailers; if it retails for $1200 then it’s that price everywhere. Just choose which store to purchase it from. Wish I’d had this the first 40 years of my marriage. It’s SO fast, SO thorough, and nothing fancy. My heart hurts for you Becky, I think I would still be crying over the loss of all that food. My mother lost all of her food from a hurricane a few years back. That started her on her canning and dehydrating journey. She gave me the food preservation bug which lead me to your channel. Before she passed away last month she gifted all of her equipment to me and my daughter. Every time I work on a project in the kitchen I know she's with me. I had a "Becky Win", as I like to call it, last night. Mandy in the Making made a sweet and sour kielbasa via crockpot in her last video. I tried it last night (if was so good) but I had all of this left over juice/sauce from the dish. Then I remembered I was thawing a pork roast. I put it in the crock pot with all juicy goodness from the first meal. I slow cooked it all night. I set aside some for dinner tonight and bagged up two more for the freezer. One dirty dish and 4 meals, Becky win. Thank you for all the inspiration you give us and for showing the good with the bad.

All of my meat was stored in that freezer, including a 15 lb turkey from a local farmer (that turkey alone was an almost $100 purchase). So it was a devastating loss. Watching you brings back memories of those days, I’m now a senior citizen and doing everything in one day is nearly impossible now, it’s more of doing one thing at a time each day, and keeping up with it as it goes along, watching you keeps me motivated and at the same time exhausted for you, how I wish those days of strength and resiliency, I’ve learned a lot from you along with my experience thrown in there, makes life blessed and grateful thank you for that, you are a blessing ❤

You need a latch lock for your freezer door. There are many on the market some are self adhesive and easy to install. 1 park goes on the door 1 goes on the side and then it just closes and latches. Some have a twist lock too. Then you know your door is shut because you latch it.

Hi Becky , I don't often comment on peoples video's but I felt I had to this time. I watched your 4th July vid and saw by your face just how upset you were by the freezer issue. But, try to remember that although you may have lost so many freezer meals (and prep time, growing and harvesting time etc.) think how many freezer meals you have inspired others to make around the world and now, how many meals will be saved because you have shared your experience. So you've lost a coupla dozen meals, but are responsible for inspiring the creation and "security" of thousands of more. And on a purely selfish note, I can't wait to watch you fill it up again. You go girl xxx

This isn’t a network production, it’s a TH-camr’s channel which is evolving as her life does. I feel that most of Becky’s subscribers have really come to love the beautiful person that she is and is more than happy to follow along with her in her various endeavors and adventures. She makes us truly feel like we are friends and I am very grateful for that. I have learned so much about gardening, cooking, preserving, practical household tips, how to get the most out of your harvest with minimal waste, and how to give grace to myself and others when needed all by watching these videos, even the clean the house videos. No one is forcing you to watch them so maybe next time you will choose to just scroll on by instead of being rude

It is so good of you to share the reality of life the ups and downs that we all go through. My heart breaks for you for the loss of your freezer but this helps reminds me to make sure our upright door is closed! Ours is full of meats. I am interested in your freezer alarm for your phone but didn't see your link for it. I will search for it though. Our upright has a cubby area right off our kitchen so ours is on our main floor in our home. Instant Pots are awesome! I love mine for pulled pork, chicken dinners just about anything. I make my hard boiled eggs on the steam function also.

I am watching a TH-camr now, where a mother of 2 young children, is ACTIVELY dying. This freezer situation is NOTHING compared to that. Becky, you are not known for saving money, lol on lots of things. So, thank your stars, that it is only a freezer ruining your food! The stadges of Grief?? REally??

EXACTLY! Imagine being so selfish and ridiculous to think that, due to your own ignorance, your freezer contents had to be discarded and you actually use the term, five stages of grief?! What an insult to those who are actually experiencing true grief.
