    A few things. Coolant overflow tank. I just unbolted mine and washed it out fully. Also went to a spring clamp on the hose. Radiator cap; check what pressure it can hold. Keep in mind tho, on an older car, if you replace a cap that could only hold say 10-12#, and a new one is rated at 16#, that my cause another weakness to be exposed, the water pump seal. There are two seals in the pump mated to each other, pressed together by a spring. As those seals wear down, the amount of pressure they can hold back begins to lower. So replacing the cap may cause the pump to leak. But, if the system can’t hold a high pressure, it may boil over in very hot conditions, as the pressure raises the boiling point. Battery, if you replace the battery, don’t put those felt washers under the terminals that they try and sell you. Those washers will lift the terminals up enough so they don’t clamp tightly on the battery posts. These terminals do not have enough compression space to make up for the smaller size of the post as it tapers smaller towards the top.

    KIA/Hyundai use GDI (gasoline direct injection) engines. Every 20,000 miles, you'll also want to run a GDI intake valve and turbo cleaner through the throttle body. I have found that the STP Intake Valve Cleaner does the best job, and is considerably better than the CRC or Seafoam products. Doing this will de-carbonize the intake valves, which are not cleaned by fuel additive as they would be otherwise in a non-GDI engine.

      Good afternoon. One thing you can also add to your car and I have a 2019 Sorento V6, is an oil catch can baffle device. I installed a new positive crankcase ventilation valve and then added a hose from the PCV valve to the oil catch can and then from the oil catch can back to where the hose is going into the fresh air box after the air filter. This way you get a lot less deposits on your intake valve and intake valve seat in a GDI engine. I can send you a photograph if you'd like just shoot me your email and I'll send you a photo or two.

    Very Informative. One important note, if your using a socket wrench to open the oil drain bolt, be sure it's a 17mm 6 point socket and not a 12 point. The 12 point socket will spin and not grab and you will strip the bolt head. Just changed oil on my Sorento and learned my lesson.

    Good video. But I promise you, a typical shop won't do such a thorough job. They're in the business of getting customers in an out as quickly as possible and will likely only do the bare minimum with fluids, filters, and tire rotations. If, later, anything break or was excessively warn and the customer states it should have been caught at the main servicing intervals, they always have plausible deniability and will claim it occurred after. After bad experiences, I never trust mechanics at their word. I either do it myself or will verify everything they did by checking. This is where being a DIY really helps. The most difficult part is that people don't have their own car lifts, so investing in a good floor jack and a good set of jack stands is a must.
    Life would be so much better if auto maintenance and servicers weren't so scammy and dishonest and priced their work reasonably. Most of their so-called "257-point" free inspections are just them making up a long list of expensive things for them to make obscene profits on, nearly all of which are generally unnecessary. People never realize how much money they waste at these places, and how stupid cheap they get their materials for vs what they charge you.

    I have the 2016 Sorento and love my car, now if only I had a car lift lol. I try to do some things myself but oil changes I just dont find the value these days like I did growing up and then having ti dispose of it etc. Tune-ups, brakes etc I do all myself and save a ton.

      you don't *need* a lift. You can do this service using ramps, or a hydraulic jack and jack stands. It's just nicer with a lift.

    I went to a kia dealership and they recommended the 60k service. Which I opt to do. Then when it was all done he told me that everything was done and that everything else that they checked was good. And 2 weeks later my rear brake pads were gone. making squeaking noises and stopped at a brake shop and they told me that the rear brakes were completely out. but the fronts were ok. So I remember that the kia person told me that my brakes looks good and that it doesn't need to be service yet. So brakes inspection was part of the 60k service i assume and they told me it was fine. Would that be my fault that my brakes were out? or would it be the kia dealership for giving me wrong info? Because i had to change the brakes at the brake shop instead.

      Sounds to me like they gave you bogus info, or they are blind. Wouldn't be able to miss that, especially if they call themselves mechanics!

    Please why did you put fuel additive in the the fuel tank and what it does

    • @GlassWolfLH
      @GlassWolfLH 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      typically it's used to clean fuel injectors. In a non-GDI engine, it would also be used to clean intake valves, but since KIA uses GDI engines, you will also need to run a GDI intake valve cleaner every 20,000 miles to prevent carbon build-up on the intake valves.

    I have the i4 2015 sorento. Already did inner and outter tie rods and front sway bar links. Didnt need to but i drive it a lot and go camping in the mountains so much plus i just hit 70k. My ball joint on passenger side is bad and just did that. Should i do both ball joints at the same time or can i just wait until the drivet side start making noise? Its very easy to do but hard to separate ball joint from the wheel hub

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Multidimensional Traveler We would suggest replacing both sides at once as the parts tend to wear at the same speed.

    Break fluid is a sealed unit doesn’t get dirty

    • @GlassWolfLH
      @GlassWolfLH 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kalani1987 agreed, but I'd do a drain and fill 3X, spacing it out over 500 miles between drains. The flush machines can damage the trans. drain and fill takes 3 times to get most of it, but it's safer.
