2:47 Dude did that like a boss. I NEVER seen anyone on youtube take it out without getting oil all over hands and fingers. Do you people understand what you just saw? Legend son, LEGEND. ✌️
I was looking for a good video to change the oil & filter on my wife's 2018 Kia Sorrento and this video was the best one that I ran across, the guy takes his time and explains every thing in detail and doesn't treat it like a certified mechanic is changing the oil and filter. Thank You
Oil change was quoted as $120 full synthetic at Jiffy Lube. Three years ago FS oil change $60 I found one at $110 with a new customer $25 off. This was the absolute cheapest I could pay. What was $60 is now $120. I changed my oil for 1 st time! Great accomplishment, felt great! Until 2 days later I get PO0014 and PO0024 codes and my engine light lit up. Ugh…. I was stuck in stop and go for 45 min to an hour. I could smell a burn smell but on the highway “parking lot” in ATL it could be any vehicle. Nope. It was mine. I did not take the oil cap off before I drained old oil or oil filter. I took off just b4 filling up again. After oil pan emptied, tightened well and filter changed and tightened well. ???? If anyone should have even the smallest tidbit, I’d love to hear it. Ty.
Hey sorry that has happened to you, first thing I wanna ask is did you put in the right quantity of oil, should be either 5.5qts total or if u used Lucas oil or another approved additive you should subtract the added amount up-to the recommended. Next, did you use the right weight should be 5w-30 or 5w-20. Finally check for leaks make sure your seals, gaskets, drain bolt and filter caps are all dry and properly tightened!
Update… I found the ring seal on the oil filter broke. All the oil spewed from oil filter while stuck in traffic. I bought another filter, placed new O ring seal, reset codes…. All good!!! Well had to fill oil again too! But I’m happy! Yay!!! Thanks for response!
@@asphalt_boxer yes, purchased correct oil 5w-30 FS. Very careful to tighten oil gasket cap 1/4 turn after resistance. I did put the o-ring on the wrong space of the oil filter top. This caused it to break. I tightened by hand. It’s on the top of my engine.
So if you ran engine to drive over ramps. Can you drain immediately? Or do you need to wait an hour or how long so the oil is cool? Or if oil hot it wont hurt hands or anyrhing?
11:16 I changed my oil and did like u did here to check for any leaks when its running. And i didnt see anything. So my question is, that means its good right? Because if it was leaking then you would see it dripping at this point right? Or is there any time the drip is so so slow that it take 10 minutes for it to drip? Im asking cuz it was my first oil change i ever did. And i think i did it good. But i dont know if u have to watch it for 10 minutes straight to see if it drips. I only watched for 5 minutes while car ran and i see nothing at all. Since it was my first oil change im just paranoid maybe and trying to think like maybe it looks good but may have leak but its a drip leak that happens every 10 minutes.
I think you should be good, check the area around the filter, and the drain plug. If there is a slow leak from those areas it should be visible while the car is running for the first 5 mins. If you notice that after driving the car for miles (500 miles or more) that the oil is low you may have a oil consumption problem
At the beginning of the video, I said make sure you are on a level surface. So when the car is off the stands it should still be level. But thank you for the feedback I'll make the clear in the next video
Because 20 is a lighter weight, it moves through the engine better when it is colder. However if it doesn’t get cold where you live 10 weight increases doesn’t hurt. Though i don’t recommend it

Thanks man it took a while but with practice!

Great video! The only suggestion would be to wear personal protective equipment.

Hi thanks for your question, you want the engine to be at operating temperature (warm) when changing the oil. This allows for max drainage
🔥🔥🔥🔥
That stringy piece of felt just went right in huh? Is that a fram filter?
With some force yes, the filter I used here was from kia but they all have very similar designs. The key is to get a flush fit

U forgot to say make sure the car is level off the jack stands

Level? Like front to back level? I was going to pull it up on ramps. 😬
Yes front to back level

Thank You!
