With every performance, it's as if he's summoning the music from the piano rather than playing it. That's supreme artistry.

Not sure if I buy the current, hopefully project driven image that Trifonov is projecting but he's still one of the best of the younger generation of pianists around. Let's hope he returns to his more classical roots (image wise) soon as I find what I'm seeing somewhat distracting. But I genuinely love his interpretation of Sarcasm. Very special.

@@roberacevedo8232 Nonsense. It also has to resonate with your psyche in such a way as to drive you to practice piano for ten hours a day in order to acquire the skill to play it. In the case of this song, this is only possible if your psyche resonates to some extent with its inherent, deliberate madness.

@@prs_81 True. I was being a bit hyperbolic.
Then again, Trifonov plays things I could never play if I practiced a hundred hours a day for a hundred years, because my brain is wired differently than his.
I know his first memory was at age four, sitting at the piano composing music. I wonder how much time he's spent at the piano every day on average since then. I suspect more than four hours and less than ten.

The look seems very affected to me, which his original body language never did. To me the ‘real’ Trifonov will always be the TH-cam Rach. 3 with the French orchestra and Asian conductor. He was only 24 then, and artists are entitled to their own evolution. But in T.’s case there is a certain over management of his career that does not appeal to me.
