    So few pianists are aware of the style of playing prominent in the latter part of the 1800's and early 1900's. Here is a pianist not only with unmatched skill, but a true feel for Liszt's music. A priceless recording. (No, I wasn't there in the late 1800's, but there are many avenues of research, and yes, I do play the piano, but absolutely NOWHERE near this standard).

    THIS is a masterful performance by an excellent performer. The editing is also perfect, it lets his playing lead you through the performance. How hard is the arrangement he's playing? He's sweating and you can see his hands shaking at times! Bravo. Not many people on this planet could perform a piece to that level.

    • @bryangl1
      @bryangl1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      2chrisward Thus isn't an "arrangement", this is Liszt's score,.although the playing is so damned fast, it's hard to keep up with it, reading the score. The challenge is to play the entire set of studies in the one sitting. Remarkable enough without adding any variants. By 'editing' I`guess you mean the vision directing - the cameras all being compact and remote controlled.

    This pianist is not only a rarely consummate musician and virtuoso, he is a medium transmitting the many possible intentions of our greatest composers. Let us drop our pretensions about our knowledge of the music and listen and learn.

    Many wrote bad comments about him, but few understand that he's in his own league. The phrasing, breathing are all his own signature which made his performance unusual and unforgettable.
    Classical music world need more artists like Trifonov

    Why is every pianist sweating on the nose when they play this Mazeppa? Berezovsky is the same way.
    I think the answer is that impassioned playing with energy overdrive tends to produce that effect. The entire body and brain are so ''involved'', focused and intensely engaged in executing this piece to achieve the utmost result.
    Bravo to both pianists, Trifonov and Berezovsky.

    • @williammanning5066

    • @ediccartman7252
