The source of "mana" in the Age of God was the True Ether and every beings in that era of time had Magic, not a cheap-trick Magecraft. But the weird thing is, as Mateusz said, Medea called her magics as Magecraft, not the actual Magic. This is weird considering that Medea is a powerful mage originated from Age of God so she must have Magic, not Magecraft.

Fate/Prototype is...well, just that. A prototype. It was going to be Fate/Stay Night, but plot changed, characters replaced, until eventually they so different you could not call them the same story. And some time after Stay Night was completed, Nasu just revisited the scrapped ideas and put them together into a new timeline.

@KariaP the starting point for the franchise will always be Fate/Stay Night, it has 3 routes, and all 3 of them are adapted into anime. The animes are Fate/Stay Night 2006, Unlimited Blade Works TV series, and the Heavens Feel movies. After you are done with that, you can practically watch/read/play whatever. I would recommend Fate/Zero next, which is the prequel to Stay Night.
Also, weirdly enough, Fate is a roller coaster of confusion in a way everyone can understand. Like going from Deen to Ufotable… that’s a universal leap if I’m being honest.

You underestimate how influential Fate is in the anime and game sphere. Its like one of those pillars that a lot of enthusiasts in the industry today love and would kill to collab with. Hell, Nasu has hung with and shoots the shit with Nisio (Monogatari), and even hangs to watch western films with Hideo Kojima. How interconnected a lot of these people are in anime and games would astound you if you saw all the threads. Its why FGO has so many collaborators, its mainly people who either are friends of or people who are ascended fans. Prisma Ilya was created by a fan who took a joke from Hollow, made doujins, got attention, and was able to make a series for TM.
Fun fact: he rolled for Astolfo during a Fate/apocrypha banner and didn't seem to understand that not only Astolfo but every other 4 star character from Apocrypha was on the banner as well.
Remember newcomer you don't need to consume everything but if you truly enjoy the first fate series you watched, played, or readied you can consume it all lol.

I think i read in the comments of gigguks video, that its not the Mangaka of Demonslayer that drew Fate Redline. but that mangaka's assistant. its prob a mixup that happened when they were doing research (as this project was so big, they had several people researching all of this shit)
Fate/Zero was definitely designed to be seen after Stay/Night, there's a goddamn counter for crying out loud. And doing it that way let's it use dramatic irony.
I prefer Zero before UBW(not heavens feel) since the clock still works great built anticipation for when SOMETHING will happen and watching UBW later let's you end on a positive note. Okay thats not exactly true, Fate route is the best one to watch after Zero in my opinion because of the actual pay off of the Saber stuff being one of it's main plot points and not just a secondary shit to Shirou's violent self theraphy session. But until Ufotable gets around to it I'll continue to recomemd Zero->UBW->Heavens Feel->Todays Menu for the Emiya Household(It is a must watch, I will throw hands over this. ITS CANON) for FSN adaptations
@@nightshadoew436 You can enjoy it that way for sure, but that's not how it was designed to be seen. Zero genuinely expects you to have read the VN, or at least seen DEEN Stay/Night. Also, Ufortable doesn't need to be the studio to do that route, it just needs a more faithful adaptation.

The only real difference would be in animation style, and for the most part people can't actually tell the difference. Plus, I'm pretty sure there's a statement out there saying Ufortable wouldn't do the Saber Route because the Studio Deen version exists.
A really underrated movie is "Oath Under Snow" , Yeah , technically its part of Prisma Illya , but apart from one blink and you will miss it scene you would never know it , And yeah , its technically the prequel of what shiro said to the gang to fill them in what happened before the main plot ,but you can go watch it completely blind and will have just as much fun , worked fine for me .
It's alright but the Shirou vs Angelica fight was rather underwhelming, it felt too wonky I don't expect Ufotable levels of animation but I feel every other Fate anime (excluding Deen which sucked in the UBW movie too) was better even though this should have been at least as good by virtue of being a movie

Tbh that model specifically is Heaven's Feel Shirou who *SPOILER FOR HF* / actually figured out he wanted to live right before he was supposed to sacrifice himself to destroy the grail. Model is from epilogue and only that as far as I remember.

I actually did get into Fate via the Deen adaptations. This was like in 2011-12, so after the 2010 UBW anime and right after Fate/Zero but before the 2014 UBW anime. And, I won't lie, I was hooked from episode 1. There's just something so magical about Fate/Stay Night to me. The character designs, the color choices for both the designs and the environment. The music! If there is one reason to go back to Fate/Stay Night 2006, it's for that amazing OST. And something else, the way Fate presents what could easily be seen as an epic fantasy story in the middle of a modern Japanese city. Saber and Rider fighting up the side of a building before having an epic finale at the top, revealing the Sword of Promised Victory in all its glory! All of the metaphysical nonsense kept me in when I learned about it later. But I didn't really understand how it worked until I actually read the visual novel. Highly recommend it for anyone who reads visual novels; despite some of the flaws, it's still written far better than ANY of the anime adaptations have been. Everything hits harder in the vn version, even things that were only barely seen in the shows.
Not to mention learning more about how Shirou thinks, my goodness, the man's a sass machine that the anime can't quite get right since most of the sass is internal.

Just a heads up, in 13:48 that is not Nasu, it's FGO's former creative director Yosuke Shiokawa, Nasu only ever showed the back of his head in an old interview picture and we don't even know if that's actually him xd
Part of the reason why "where to start?" isn't a good opener is that even considering the first official material it gets a bit muddy. Fate/Stay Night is the first time a piece of the Nasuverse had the Fate title, but Tsukihime came out earlier and several of its lore pieces and characters show up in the Fate side of the Nasuverse (most notably, The TYPES, Arcueid, the Dead Apostles, Sion and Fabre Rowan). But Type Moon (the company, not Brunestud) doesn't consider *even that* to be the first instalment, instead pointing to Witch on The Holy Night (which, despite coming out after Tsukihime and Garden of Sinners, was the first one to enter the development phase). Given how the works vary in medium, tone and genre, it'd be easier to say what one finds interesting about the Nasuverse and then find the thing that focuses on it the most. As for the timeline video, it omits some really important details. One that I noticed immediately was Fate/EXTELLA getting skipped over. Considering it clarifies how alternate timelines work in the Nasuverse and is the first time we get to directly confront Zephyr/Sefar, it's really strange that he decided to briefly talk about Last Encore instead when it's just a "what if Twice Pieceman won?" scenario without explaining who Twice Pieceman is (much like Last Encore itself, but I digress)
Not gonna lie, i started the "fate franchise" by watching for the first time unlimited blade works made by ufotable, but i liked it so much that i needed more. So, before the release of the second cour of "unlimited blade works", i watched re-zero. The revelation there were mind-blowing to me, and from there i watched the second part of unlimited blade works that was coming out. This for me was the best experience regarding this two shows: first 12 episode of Ubw, then re-zero, then second part of Ubw.
Yes exactly, that is indeed the entire point of Zero. You are supposed to know how it ends because its a tragedy. How the characters ended up at that specific ending is the whole point and it very much expects you to have seen/read FSN beforehand. (and Hallow Ataraxia) I have no idea why people find this so hard to understand, its literally the same as the Star Wars prequels. That is why its a prequel in the first place. Granted Zero is not canon to the main series anymore as it changed the characters and events too much.

@@Lowdian Zero is sorta in a weird limbo state in terms of canonicity because while Nasu likes it and did approve of a lot of the plot details there are inconsistencies between the story Urobuchi wrote and the one Nasu described in FSN. The solution iirc was to pull an “Archer’s Route” solution and say how it actually was very similar but not exactly the same.

The thing with Grand Order is that things that happened in it didn't really happen. So Tiamat didn't really do stuff in Uruk because its a singularity which SPOILER Goetia created to get more energy by incinetating humans from multiple periods of history for his phantasm to remake the world. And singularity is basically a moment of history but something went wrong for example in Rome appeared Romulus, Caesar and Caligula as servants and starting a war against the current emperor which was Nero(The red saber)
not technically, they aren't true events yet that's why we can still rayshift to the singularities before they happen in the present, but what goetia did broke the recorded histories era making them into arbitrary possibilities, a hole in space-time axis, trying to violate the natural laws of the world takes time, hence why these timelines haven't cemented themselves into reality yet hence why they are called singularities (points in space with incomprehensible space time and data breakdown). unlike lostbelts where fantasy tree's are planted to replace the current recorded history of humanity. a singularity mainly the key-points of history also known as the the corner stone of human history. and by forcing these incomprehensible events would lead to collapse of events and the destruction of history itself. something like if you tip over a a few pillars support all of the building comes crashing down.

I also highly recommend his channel if you want watch videos on going over fate’s lore (in which he does a decent job at explaining things without confusing you) and just fate discussion videos.
In a weird twist of fate, my introduction to the Fate series was Gigguk's review of Fate / Zero, which I watched soon afterward. ....I only found the pervy stuff later.

KH is far simpler to understand than Fate. At least all of KH’s lore is within internationally released games that you can find with relative ease. If you want to understand Fate lore you need access to visual novels almost or more than 20yrs old that have zero official translations, video games that also have no official translations, a gacha game, several anime, a few light novels, a manga, and accompanying each of these at least one additional material supplement that also isn’t translated. That’s not getting into the fact that several of these items contradict one another in weird ways. The only reason KH is seen as harder is that it’s lore is actually necessary for whatever game you’re playing. At least with Fate it will explain the relevant lore In whatever you’re consuming.

I think it was Xerblade on yt who did entire routes of the VN. That's how I read Heaven's Feel. I remember being unemployed, watching 8 hours a day, and it took me several weeks to complete.
When I was a nerd tenager, who was used to swallow down animes with bettewn 12 and 24 episodes as if it was potato chips, the Fate frachise came to me as an all you can eat bufe. It really was a crazy trip to watch Fate/Zero as an egy boy who didn't knew that anime can show gore without looking trashy, I remember thinking "no way they did that to a little girl" and being compleatly rooked to the entire show.
Visual novel let's plays have their audience. Though you would need to decide if you want to be an "Audio book" and basically read everything for people to run in the background. Or if you want to comment on the story. and for example only read non-voice acted parts - this is more appealing to fans who already have read the novel and want to "Reexpirience" it through someone else's fresh emotions and commentary. And yes there are Let's plays (Or let's reads? ) of the Fate VN. and decent amount of them

I prefer Zero before UBW(not heavens feel) since the clock still works great built anticipation for when SOMETHING will happen and watching UBW later let's you end on a positive note.
Okay thats not exactly true, Fate route is the best one to watch after Zero in my opinion because of the actual pay off of the Saber stuff being one of it's main plot points and not just a secondary shit to Shirou's violent self theraphy session. But until Ufotable gets around to it I'll continue to recomemd Zero->UBW->Heavens Feel->Todays Menu for the Emiya Household(It is a must watch, I will throw hands over this. ITS CANON) for FSN adaptations

I actually did get into Fate via the Deen adaptations. This was like in 2011-12, so after the 2010 UBW anime and right after Fate/Zero but before the 2014 UBW anime. And, I won't lie, I was hooked from episode 1. There's just something so magical about Fate/Stay Night to me. The character designs, the color choices for both the designs and the environment. The music! If there is one reason to go back to Fate/Stay Night 2006, it's for that amazing OST. And something else, the way Fate presents what could easily be seen as an epic fantasy story in the middle of a modern Japanese city. Saber and Rider fighting up the side of a building before having an epic finale at the top, revealing the Sword of Promised Victory in all its glory!
All of the metaphysical nonsense kept me in when I learned about it later. But I didn't really understand how it worked until I actually read the visual novel. Highly recommend it for anyone who reads visual novels; despite some of the flaws, it's still written far better than ANY of the anime adaptations have been. Everything hits harder in the vn version, even things that were only barely seen in the shows.
Not to mention learning more about how Shirou thinks, my goodness, the man's a sass machine that the anime can't quite get right since most of the sass is internal.

Part of the reason why "where to start?" isn't a good opener is that even considering the first official material it gets a bit muddy. Fate/Stay Night is the first time a piece of the Nasuverse had the Fate title, but Tsukihime came out earlier and several of its lore pieces and characters show up in the Fate side of the Nasuverse (most notably, The TYPES, Arcueid, the Dead Apostles, Sion and Fabre Rowan). But Type Moon (the company, not Brunestud) doesn't consider *even that* to be the first instalment, instead pointing to Witch on The Holy Night (which, despite coming out after Tsukihime and Garden of Sinners, was the first one to enter the development phase). Given how the works vary in medium, tone and genre, it'd be easier to say what one finds interesting about the Nasuverse and then find the thing that focuses on it the most.
As for the timeline video, it omits some really important details. One that I noticed immediately was Fate/EXTELLA getting skipped over. Considering it clarifies how alternate timelines work in the Nasuverse and is the first time we get to directly confront Zephyr/Sefar, it's really strange that he decided to briefly talk about Last Encore instead when it's just a "what if Twice Pieceman won?" scenario without explaining who Twice Pieceman is (much like Last Encore itself, but I digress)

Not gonna lie, i started the "fate franchise" by watching for the first time unlimited blade works made by ufotable, but i liked it so much that i needed more. So, before the release of the second cour of "unlimited blade works", i watched re-zero. The revelation there were mind-blowing to me, and from there i watched the second part of unlimited blade works that was coming out.
This for me was the best experience regarding this two shows: first 12 episode of Ubw, then re-zero, then second part of Ubw.

Yes exactly, that is indeed the entire point of Zero. You are supposed to know how it ends because its a tragedy. How the characters ended up at that specific ending is the whole point and it very much expects you to have seen/read FSN beforehand. (and Hallow Ataraxia) I have no idea why people find this so hard to understand, its literally the same as the Star Wars prequels. That is why its a prequel in the first place. Granted Zero is not canon to the main series anymore as it changed the characters and events too much.

@@Lowdian Zero is sorta in a weird limbo state in terms of canonicity because while Nasu likes it and did approve of a lot of the plot details there are inconsistencies between the story Urobuchi wrote and the one Nasu described in FSN. The solution iirc was to pull an “Archer’s Route” solution and say how it actually was very similar but not exactly the same.

So Tiamat didn't really do stuff in Uruk because its a singularity which SPOILER Goetia created to get more energy by incinetating humans from multiple periods of history for his phantasm to remake the world. And singularity is basically a moment of history but something went wrong for example in Rome appeared Romulus, Caesar and Caligula as servants and starting a war against the current emperor which was Nero(The red saber)
not technically, they aren't true events yet that's why we can still rayshift to the singularities before they happen in the present, but what goetia did broke the recorded histories era making them into arbitrary possibilities, a hole in space-time axis, trying to violate the natural laws of the world takes time, hence why these timelines haven't cemented themselves into reality yet hence why they are called singularities (points in space with incomprehensible space time and data breakdown). unlike lostbelts where fantasy tree's are planted to replace the current recorded history of humanity. a singularity mainly the key-points of history also known as the the corner stone of human history. and by forcing these incomprehensible events would lead to collapse of events and the destruction of history itself. something like if you tip over a a few pillars support all of the building comes crashing down.

I also highly recommend his channel if you want watch videos on going over fate’s lore (in which he does a decent job at explaining things without confusing you) and just fate discussion videos.

If you want to understand Fate lore you need access to visual novels almost or more than 20yrs old that have zero official translations, video games that also have no official translations, a gacha game, several anime, a few light novels, a manga, and accompanying each of these at least one additional material supplement that also isn’t translated. That’s not getting into the fact that several of these items contradict one another in weird ways.
The only reason KH is seen as harder is that it’s lore is actually necessary for whatever game you’re playing. At least with Fate it will explain the relevant lore In whatever you’re consuming.
One of the Theories with Watcher is that she is either a force of nature manifested or the Counter Force given form as a servant. Cause they are described as being more than just a hero, angel, or demon.

It really was a crazy trip to watch Fate/Zero as an egy boy who didn't knew that anime can show gore without looking trashy, I remember thinking "no way they did that to a little girl" and being compleatly rooked to the entire show.
Visual novel let's plays have their audience. Though you would need to decide if you want to be an "Audio book" and basically read everything for people to run in the background. Or if you want to comment on the story. and for example only read non-voice acted parts - this is more appealing to fans who already have read the novel and want to "Reexpirience" it through someone else's fresh emotions and commentary. And yes there are Let's plays (Or let's reads? ) of the Fate VN. and decent amount of them
