It makes me so flippin' HAPPY to hear Capaldi say that Chris Eccleston was definitely the Doctor. Capaldi is my second favorite to Eccleston, and I can't help but love the fact that he loves that "Turn of the Earth" speech as much as I do!! Thank you, Capaldi, for being such a die hard fan boy!!
Carl-Michael Hammond He still might. 11 doesn't mention her, err, sort of when a hologram appears of all his recent companions. When Billie Piper's hologram shows up, he's all like "THANK YOU!!" Or something like that. Don't remember exactly what was said.

Levitibert Rovitikus Nah, it's okay to dislike him. It is your opinion. I have a bunch of friends who like 9, although I think all of them prefer either Tennant, Smith or Capaldi. My personal favourite is Tennant, with Capaldi and Eccleston right after him. Haven't seen enough of the Classic Doctors to form an opinion on all of them, although what I've seen of 1, 4 and 5, I do like them too. But for me, 9 was my first Doctor so he will always be special.
I wish Eccleston had at least come back and done one short scene in Day of the Doctor, regenerating from John Hurt. Just one short scene would've been enough.
Philo Wintercoat that didn't happen because in another episode it shows Clara at most of his doctor(s) locations and they were all different and it proved it didn't go from war doctor to Eccles to tenant to smith
Or even just _given them permission_ to use his face in a CGI morphing sequence. He wouldn't even have needed to shoot anything. I hate loose ends like this - we all wanted to see the actual transformation! Still, getting McGann in the episode was absolutely fantastic (pun intended).

Honestly, Peter Capaldi is my favorite Doctor. The man is an acting legend, he can say more in a glance than most actors can in a monologue. He's just fantastic.

A wonderful start to 10 brilliant years of new Doctor Who :)
You're rather lucky, though. I never even knew Doctor Who until a little over a year ago. But since then, I've watched all the episodes, so... I've become a little obsessive.
After watching countless repeats of classic episodes of Doctor Who, starting with Tom Baker and moving straight through to McCoy, I was so disappointed when I discovered that the show had abruptly ended after 'Survival'. After scrolling through the TV Guide one day, I found myself staring at two words that I never thought I'd ever see again. With my parents I sat down, captivated as to what was going on in an episode of Doctor Who unlike anything I had ever seen before. To me the special effects looked absolutely spot on and entirely believable, Eccleston's Ninth Doctor was moody, dark and almost completely different to any other actor that I had seen before in the part, and from then on I found myself becoming completely obsessed with this show and at just the right time too. Following the revival of the series, merchandise began to explode. DVD's, Books, Toys, the whole lot. Nancy Varney I watched the show from its first episode when it came back, but didn't consider myself a hardcore fan until the Tennant specials. I became die hard with it. Now it's joined my list of favorite shows alongside Star Trek and old Battlestar Galactica and Six Million Dollar Man and the like.
David Nicholson You're a classic sci-fi tv show addict like myself. Those shows back then were brilliant and it's a shame that we don't see that much of it any more. Thank goodness for dvds and the internet :)
TheD0CT0RWH0fan Here, here!!! I loved them corny as they could be sometimes, especially when they even had the slow mo going during Steve or Jaime running down a hill they couldn't possibly be going down at 60 miles an hour lol. Didn't bother me any, I loved it. I wish they could have done a Galactica/Buck Rogers crossover. Would have been great for both shows. Galactica 1980 sucked, and Buck Rogers wasn't properly finished off. Having the Searcher and Galactica running into each other in the middle of space would have been great for a proper sendoff of each show.
I think when Eccleston showed up with that signature sense of eccentricity and all around feel of familiar yet so alien, and that with the combination of the speech, he truly solidified that Doctor Who was back for the long term.
Rose Tyler was very important, and I didn't realize how much so until just now. The Doctor changes a lot, but at the end of the day, the Doctor will still be the Doctor. But Rose showed what a companion would be like in the modern day.
God I miss seeing Chris and Billie together. And my biggest regret about the 50th was that we didn't get one seen with Rose/the Moment/Badwolf interacting with either/both the 10th and 11th doctors.
+jenfirelight Yeah it really pissed me off they couldn't see her. It would have been a really nice moment for 10 and a nice moment for 11 as well (: I was like freaking out in my seat at the theatre. UGGH, why couldn't they see her? :(
"I can feel it, the turn of the Earth, the ground beneath our feet is spinning @ 1000mph and the entire plant is hurtling through space around the Sun @ 67,000mph and I can feel it." The 9th Doctor in: 'Rose' March 2005 =))
We're falling through space, you and me, clinging to the skin of this tiny little world...and if we let go. That's who I am. Now forget me, Rose Tyler, go home.
+John Mandrake I hated him up until Clara died. I have nothing against Clara, but Capaldi simply does not care, while Clara does care, and it just ruined him for me. Now she died, he is extremely alien, which is good, as Eccleston is my favorite, and he was extremely alien as well.
He's confirmed to stay for Season 10, Moffat's final season, and he's also been asked to stay on for Season 11. I hope he agrees and stays for a long time, because he really feels like the Doctor. He seems to incorporate the personas of all the previous Doctors and his acting feels very real. I hope he becomes as iconic as 4.
awsomenamehere Most Doctor Who characters end up dying in the end, with the exception of those who are sent off into other realities or the handful who went off and lived regular lives. Some become military leaders, which kind of confuses me, but whatever.
Everyone whom has played The Doctor has brought their own flair to the show. Same for the writers. My favorite line from the entire show is still, "Pleasure to meet you, Rose. Run for your life."
It worked extremely well. It didn't start off in the middle of the action, they brought it way down to Earth, and as an audience you truly felt like the second companion. And of course Christopher Eccleston brought something so real, yet so alien to the character of the Doctor. He was just fantastic.
see? THAT is a true fan, he doesn't complain about the episode, nor even of Chris as ths Doctor. He ENJOYS every single piece of the show... Can someone please...PLEASE learn from Peter?? thanks
Happy Anniversary Nu Who!!! With Peter being such a fan of Christopher, imagine if Twelve would ever meet Nine. Much like the chemistry between Matt and David, you can just picture those two would hit it off. *"The Great Battle of the Accents"*.
Capaldis words are so true! I would not watch this show now if Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper didn´t do such a great job. They both were fantastic :) Til today they are my favourite. We miss you
Kristen Black He is brilliant isn't he. So looking forward to seeing him return for the 9th series :) I don't care what fool says that he's not all that good, for he is coming close to being a favorite :)
Kristen Black Agree. Capaldi is fantastic as the Doctor. I think the more truer fans, (not the girlie ones lol) can appreciate Capaldi more because he is a well seasoned actor and has the knowledge of the shows history to back him up :)
TheD0CT0RWH0fan Um, I happen to be a truer fan and Capaldi is a great actor don't get me wrong, but something's missing for him to be fantastic. he does remind me ALOT of the older ones though.
SuperfanGirl86 I personally don't think there is anything missing. I've gone back and watched again, certain stories I enjoyed, and Capaldi does a great job. Yes, he does remind us of the Classic Doctor(s), I'm sure that is what he wanted to do, was to bring the history back into it.
One of the very few things Moffatt did right was to cast Peter as the Doctor. Like David Tennant, a long time fan of the show, he brings class to this program!
Thanks! When someone working on the program doesn't know anything of the history of the show, you know both the show and the fans are in trouble!@@DarkInception
You know as much as I love Matt Smith for his quirky character and as much as I love David Tennant for being one of the most amazing actors ever in terms of my favourite actor of the Doctor Peter Capaldi is on my first place. He has so much respect for everyone who came before him and he is such a big fan of the series which makes him so awesome. I can't decide which Doctor I like the best but I can say that Peter Capaldi indeed is the best actor. And I love his scottish accent (which I ironicly didn't like in the first episode I watched but then learned to love)
Jack Budd Yes, yes that's all true. But Capaldi was a fanboy from the first day on. And he saw some of the older Doctors back then. And Tennant didn't have a Scottish accent in the show which is a bit sad. But I don't want to judge. They were all so great.
I'd love to hear more of Peter Capaldi's passion for Doctor Who. I've read he was a big fan growing up and he'd get in trouble at school for talking about it all the time and this just shows how accurate that story is. I'm glad he got the opportunity to play the character.
Yeah. Watched the Doctors 9-12, and even though I love Tennant and Smith the best, Eccleston was amazing, and so was Capaldi. People underestimate Eccleston too much probably because he left after one series.
S13 or S14 -- would be great if the 9th Doctor travelled to the so called, 'present' and/or the regenerated into the 14th doctor. They found a way for David to regenerate twice as himself. Pourquoi pas?
I felt the same about the "turn of the earth" speech. Granted, I was totally new to DW at the time, but it was a moment that gave me chills, and resonated strongly with me. Made me want to keep watching, even though I literally thought during the first episode that the entire series was about fighting killer mannequins.
I had the amazing opportunity to have my picture taken with Peter Capaldi and my daughter, and later sit in on his Q&A. He's right. Christopher Eccleston truly embodied the Doctor. Then we had David Tenant, who had his moments, and Matt Smith who I really wish would grow up. Then Capaldi showed up and it was like, "Thank goodness, the Doctor is back." He had nothing but good things to say about the other doctors. During the Q&A he had chances to lift himself up over the others, but he didn't. One comes to mind when a young man asked him if he would do Matt's speech. He was all set to record it and upload it to TH-cam when Peter Capaldi said, "That's Matt's speech. Nobody does it like Matt." He had a way of taking a moment and making it special. I'd like to see Russell T. Davies write his scripts. Then you'd know just how good he was. Thank you Mr. Capaldi. from the Library Doctor.
I never saw the old classics growing up, so I'm watching them now after getting invested in the new ones. I love it! So glad it came back! Doctor Who is now my all time favorite show!
Peter is a big fan. Watch that scene in The Husband's of River Song when he finally gets to do the classic companion line. He's telling the 12th "Ive got this one, Doctor!" ❤❤
Capaldi is so right! There is always that special moment, when you know the "new" Doctor is right for the part! Every Doctor in the "New Who", as well as his/her companion(s), find their place un your heart! Now I want to know Doctor Jo Martin's story!
I’ll always love Capaldi and his earnest evaluations of the show. He’s absolutely a fan but there’s an honesty and integrity to his remarks here which transcend simple canned pleasantries of the typical EPK package.
I watched the old serials growing up on VHS. Doctor Who came back when I was 11 and my God it was perfect timing and just a great series. I loved Eccleston as The Doctor.
One thing I find funny is that currently out of the 2789 likes and dislikes only 3 of them are dislikes. It makes me happy that so many like Doctor Who
Best interview from the actor who is worthy to hold the TARDIS key!!! He was a born fan and knows his Who. The best description of what 2005 premier was like.
Took me right back to that Saturday night and watching the opening titles, then the episode. Thinking, “He’s back. Thank goodness for that.” I was a young boy again.
I always love seeing how much of a massive fanboy Capaldi really is. And he echoes my thoughts perfectly, especially at getting the shivers the moment that theme tune began. It was so amazing that, after someone who'd grown up mostly on repeats of classic Who, I was finally watching brand new episodes. And we really had no idea whether it would be a success or not, it could've all too easily gone the other way and the Eccleston series would've been thought of as a failed experiment at best. But luckily, it didn't, and it was, of course, brilliant. Amazing to think that, 10 years later, the show is still an amazing success. :)
Noah Caboose 9 and 10 were both fantastic, but 12 has to be the best out of the reboot Doctors. A couple more Seasons and he may end up being the best of all time.
When Peter Capaldi talks about Dr. Who, you just know that here is someone that loves that old Time Lord as much as you do, who got the chills from that first episode in 2005 that you did, and someone who feels the full weight and honor of being allowed to portray the Doctor for a time.
Eccelston's identifying moment was the "Turn of the Earth" speech. Tennant's was "Oh yeah, Barcelona." Smith's was "Hello. I'm the Doctor." Capaldi hasn't had one yet. At least for me.
SoOddLife Listen is an interesting episode and builds on the mythology of the Doctor in an interesting way. But it didn't have a moment that cemented Capaldi as the Doctor for me.
Agree, i really remember that line when the doctor talked about feeling the earth rotating. that's basically when he had me curious and i had to continue watching. im really glad i did.
As much as I love Tennant,Smith, and Capaldi, Eccleston was my doctor (well at least as far as New Who is concerned. Tom Baker was my absolute favourite)
Kaito Kaze I wrote the comment for comedic effect when the video only had one dislike. Don't worry, I'm not going to judge anyone :P ...AND I AM ALSO WATING FOR SEASON 9!!!.... ...yeah!..
I still recall just one day playing Doctor Who just to "see" why the name kept popping every now and then since i was a child, and i was like "eh"...until that "turn of the earth" speech, as soon as Eccleston delivered it i knew i was hooked on to that series :)
I shall always thank my dear Texan friend for convincing me to watch Doctor Who. He told me to begin by the 2005 series, which I did, in January 2013. I have never, ever regretted this decision. With no previous knowledge of who the Doctor was, I began to watch "Rose" with apprehension... which lasted only a few seconds as I was completely enchanted by the theme music. And afterwards.. well, my fascination for Doctor Who never ceased, as I even decided to watch the Classic Doctor Who, and am now at Season 11, with an immense love for each and every Doctors. I congratulate Moffat and everyone involved for continuing this amazing legacy, and hope, a fool's hope perhaps, that it will last for another 50 years!
No doubt about it Christopher eccleston's doctor in the comeback in 2005 set the benchmark for all other actors. . it was sad to hear about him leaving because he encapsulated everything doctor who was about . You could see a few of the previous doctors in his personality ( vulnerability of Peter davisons doctor and the mad energy of Tom bakers doctor). He was in a word FANTASTIC!. lol
+Marc Allen I did like Eccleston the best, but I think most of the companions were just awesome in their own way. Rose was incredible and can't be compared to any other companion, but neither can Clara or Donna. Donna was just hilarious! Amy and Rory were my favorite love story of all time and I LOVED 11's loyalty toward them and love for them! The only companion I just didn't like was Martha. The only thing I liked her in was an episode of Torchwood. There was just nothing special about her. She was supposed to be the smart companion or something, but she was just dull imo and didn't mesh well with David Tenant. Not neeeeaaarllly as well as Rose did or as well as Clara did with Smith. Rose was the easiest to love though, and definitely the most relatable. Her laugh was one of the best things about the Rose period :-)
+lysjocksan No offense, but I HATED Donna. She was the worst of the new companions IMO. I don't hate Clara, but she's the second worst and boring. Amy and Rory's love story was one of the GREATEST story arcs of the whole series. I love Martha now, but, when her season was on, I (like the Doctor) was still so in love with and hung up on Rose Tyler, I had no eyes for poor Martha and that was her whole story. Watched her re-runs and she's AMAZING!
Marc Allen Even when I went back and watched reruns after not watching Rose for a long time I still didn't like Martha :/ Aw, I love Donna! But no offense taken :P She is actually my second least favorite companion, though I can't imagine the series without her. I just loved her and David Tenant together. I've never found Clara boring, and I just love how well she's fit with 11 and 12, but I can understand why some people at least don't like her anymore. It's getting pretty annoying how hard she's being pushed in our faces as "special". I would actually like Clara better now if they'd have killed her off a while ago. I wouldn't have been upset if they decided to kill her off during the cyberman invasion or something. Skaro was a good opportunity too though. Fake death, partnership with Missy, and then maybe her brain fries in the dalek suit or something. That would have been good. *checks off daily morbidity quota*
I returned to the show a couple of years back after some 35 years away (they had Tom Baker reruns on a public station in Memphis), and wasn't sure about it as I bought a package of Christmas specials. But the work of David Tennant, Matt Smith and especially Peter Capaldi, has made it worth getting all of the modern series, plus a few old favorites, on disc to see again.
Capaldi is brilliant, one of the best, he echoes the character's central core akin to the superior original series. The 4th Doctor came top of the official BBC poll during the 50th Anniversary as the 'Nation's Favourite Doctor'.
Christopher Eccleston was great as the Doctor. He played him as am alien. The Doctor definitely is...an alien. Doctor Who can abduct me anytime. My favorite is David Tennant. I also loved Rose's mother. She was such a mom and didn't like her daughter disappearing with an older man who took her traveling. But, she came to appreciate him and he gave her the gift of happiness in another dimension but with the man she thought was lost to her, and with her daughter too.
Rose Went Away So The Doctor Is Blue Ask Donna "Where's The Doctor?" She'll Reply "Doctor Who?" Sarah Jane, and Martha, and Now Both The Ponds, Had Their Fun With The Doctor Now Their All Gone So Ask Me Again Why The TARDIS Is Blue There's A Sad Man Inside.... With Both His Hearts Torn In Two
I love how much of a geek Capaldi is Now when he passes the torch to the Thirteenth Doctor, he'll be able to go back to being just a fan, the difference being that he'll be able to say "You know the Twelfth Doctor's my favorite one" and be talking about HIMSELF.
You gotta love an actor who salutes the guy who played the part before him.
Peter Capaldi grew up with guys who played the part before him! How could he not salute them all? x'D
Because this particular clip was about how he, as a fan from the classic Who series, experienced that first episode of the revival. There's plenty of other Capaldi material where he speaks about how he grew up as a fan of the classic series.
Shoogamoogaman I believe he is also a friend of the Pertwee family.
All of the actors who have played the Doctor seem to respect each other. They all seem like lovely people.
I can't think of any recorded incident where an actor has spoken badly of his predecessors before stepping into the role of the doctor. If anything, it seems rather like a tradition to praise their successes and how they built the part before someone else comes along to add to the pantheon. It's a very lovely tradition
Much respect for Capaldi. Without a doubt, he is THE number one fan of Doctor Who.
I'm pretty sure that's even been scientifically proven.
I think David would give him a run for his money
BK- 201 He'd be a close second, but not quite at the same level.
+MadSwedishGamer David would get In Trouble for writing doctor who fanfiction for his essays
+MadSwedishGamer when he was in school
I wish christopher eccelston would come back around at least just pop in for a hello . He was so Fantastic :)
I hope it as well
Yeah...There has to be some way he will agree to come back :(

It makes me so flippin' HAPPY to hear Capaldi say that Chris Eccleston was definitely the Doctor. Capaldi is my second favorite to Eccleston, and I can't help but love the fact that he loves that "Turn of the Earth" speech as much as I do!! Thank you, Capaldi, for being such a die hard fan boy!!
My thoughts exactly!
Mr. Eccleston was fantastic, it's a shame we never got more about him. I wish he had at least one more season.
It's always great when actors are truly fans of the show they're in.
When you said Rose I thought you meant the 12th doctor was thinking about Rose and past adventures.
Why would you think that?
I was afraid that there would be more people complaining about that while here I am who guessed correctly that it was the episode title.
I thought it meant the twelfth Doctor would mention Rose in an episode.
Carl-Michael Hammond He still might. 11 doesn't mention her, err, sort of when a hologram appears of all his recent companions. When Billie Piper's hologram shows up, he's all like "THANK YOU!!" Or something like that. Don't remember exactly what was said.
watertommyz 11 also said "I could help Rose Tyler with her homework."
I'm so sad Eccleston didn't come back for Day of the Doctor. He was amazing as Nine, and I'll miss him forever.
+MasterStryfe no, it wasn't. Do your research
Who cares? If his performance was good do his intentions really matter? Which in my opinion it was very much so.
He kinda did to make Gallifrey freeze in time!
So much of the Day Of The Doctor would have been better if Eccleston came back and Ninth was the War Doctor, instead of retconning a new actor. I loved Hurt as the Doctor but from a writing standpoint it would so much sense and be much more powerful if the Ninth was the one who used the moment.

I wish Eccleston had at least come back and done one short scene in Day of the Doctor, regenerating from John Hurt.
Just one short scene would've been enough.
U can sort of get a glimpse of his face the last second
Ishaan Basu not enough
Philo Wintercoat it's so sad that he had such a distaste for the show :(
Philo Wintercoat that didn't happen because in another episode it shows Clara at most of his doctor(s) locations and they were all different and it proved it didn't go from war doctor to Eccles to tenant to smith
Or even just _given them permission_ to use his face in a CGI morphing sequence. He wouldn't even have needed to shoot anything. I hate loose ends like this - we all wanted to see the actual transformation! Still, getting McGann in the episode was absolutely fantastic (pun intended).

***** Same here, I started watching 2 years ago. Now I've watched 1-8 around 6 times each and some of the Classic Who too! :)
I was 3 when Rose was broadcast. That was the start of my obsession with Doctor Who began. :)
Interesting! Its same thing for me it aired a day before my birthday

That was great, really enjoyed reading that :-)
I have to agree with The Review Lounge and I say must the episode that got me into Doctor Who is the episode Bad Wolf.
Nancy Varney I watched the show from its first episode when it came back, but didn't consider myself a hardcore fan until the Tennant specials. I became die hard with it.
@@Gamelover254because that would have been a happy ending
"I can feel it, the turn of the Earth,
the ground beneath our feet is spinning
@ 1000mph and the entire plant
is hurtling through space around the Sun
@ 67,000mph and I can feel it."
The 9th Doctor in: 'Rose' March 2005 =))
"...and if we let go...That's who I am."
We're falling through space, you and me, clinging to the skin of this tiny little world...and if we let go. That's who I am. Now forget me, Rose Tyler, go home.
yup that was the scene that got 100% on board
+ZeusKiller13 The sad thing is, that's how their story began, and that's how it ended.
+Jess Caron My eyes are just sweating... I swear
Have to say Capaldi is quickly becoming a favorite,
I wasn't sure at first, but this new season is killing it
+John Mandrake I hated him up until Clara died.
I hope he becomes as iconic as 4.
well I mean his first season was a pile of craps but season 9* was better tbh
crap
awsomenamehere Most Doctor Who characters end up dying in the end, with the exception of those who are sent off into other realities or the handful who went off and lived regular lives.
That was the style of writing in most of the original Who, too.
see? THAT is a true fan, he doesn't complain about the episode, nor even of Chris as ths Doctor. He ENJOYS every single piece of the show... Can someone please...PLEASE learn from Peter?? thanks
Lola Barller wat. You can still be a fan of something and notice the obvious flaws. Moffat has many, yet I'm still a fan of the show.
Lola Barller Ok but that's like Peter Capaldi. He's on another level of perfect that we can only dream of reaching
Happy Anniversary Nu Who!!! With Peter being such a fan of Christopher, imagine if Twelve would ever meet Nine. Much like the chemistry between Matt and David, you can just picture those two would hit it off. *"The Great Battle of the Accents"*.
MrMyster1ous OMG YES, MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!
God dammit. now I want something that I'll never have. WHAT A GLORIOUS WHO EPISODE THAT WOULD BE!
I wanna see rose and nine hopping
YES!
"Lots of planets have a north."
"You call _that_ north?"
Capaldis words are so true! I would not watch this show now if Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper didn´t do such a great job. They both were fantastic :) Til today they are my favourite. We miss you
Theye were Fantastic, Just Fantastic :D.
Every time I read someone saying, Fantastic, I hear the 9th Doctor immediately :)
This Video Should Be Called Peter Remembers 9
I believe the title is talking about the episode not the character.
Glauber S Pereira Ok
12 on 9
I think they mean "Rose" the episode
In the new series I'd call 10 the doctor, 12 a VERY close second. In classic, I honestly don't know.
I got goosebumps listening to Peter describe his experience. Thank you for having this up where all of us Whovians can see it. ♡Peter!
Kristen Black He is brilliant isn't he. So looking forward to seeing him return for the 9th series :) I don't care what fool says that he's not all that good, for he is coming close to being a favorite :)
He is brilliant! You can tell he is having the time of his life doing this. It makes a difference when the actor is a fan.
Kristen Black
Agree.
SuperfanGirl86
I personally don't think there is anything missing.
Like David Tennant, a long time fan of the show,
he brings class to this program!
Agreed, their passion for the series really translated into their respective performances.
Thanks! When someone working on the program doesn't know anything of the history of the show, you know both the show and the fans are in trouble!@@DarkInception
Good on you Peter for praising Christopher! As I think you were the best speech giver!
The storytelling is amazing. In the first 10 minutes of Rose you have location, time, main characters, plot, problem/solution. Everything you need
JacktheRah Tennant is Scottish and is also a big fan of the show. Same with M. Smith too.
Jack Budd Yes, yes that's all true. But Capaldi was a fanboy from the first day on. And he saw some of the older Doctors back then.
And Tennant didn't have a Scottish accent in the show which is a bit sad. But I don't want to judge. They were all so great.
Indeed, and I swear Capaldi deliberately channelled both #3 amd #4 in his playing of the character, too!
@@LWYRUP05 David and Peter are both Scottish, I believe.
Personally to me Capaldi is vetter than david as an actor
I'd love to hear more of Peter Capaldi's passion for Doctor Who. I've read he was a big fan growing up and he'd get in trouble at school for talking about it all the time and this just shows how accurate that story is. I'm glad he got the opportunity to play the character.
I love Capaldi. Best Doctor since Tom Baker in my opinion. As for Eccleston, he was highly underrated. Wish he did another series
Yeah Peter Capaldi has the kind of face and demeanor that when his version of The Doctor states he's lived for centuries, it's believable.
When I see a fan like Capaldi becoming The Doctor and describing it like this it gives me hope that a fan like me can one day be on the show
The turn of the earth scene is probably my favorite Eccleston moment, and one of my favorite Doctor Who moments.
I felt the same about the "turn of the earth" speech. Granted, I was totally new to DW at the time, but it was a moment that gave me chills, and resonated strongly with me. Made me want to keep watching, even though I literally thought during the first episode that the entire series was about fighting killer mannequins.
I'm still waiting for the killer mannequin arc that'll blow us all away. Here's hoping for season 10!
You can hear all the genuine emotion, appreciation and enthusiasm in Peter's voice, tho. We're so lucky to have him.
Capaldi nearly brought to tears by the emotion of the return of Doctor Who!
"Brought something absolutely.... new" damn it though he would say "Fantastic."
12 said 9 was the doctor ok I've lived
10 would say 5 was the doctor
11 said 4
Peter is a big fan. Watch that scene in The Husband's of River Song when he finally gets to do the classic companion line. He's telling the 12th "Ive got this one, Doctor!" ❤❤
Malcolm Tucker praises the Ninth Doctor.
My day is complete.
DoomRulz Shutity up up up.
this is peter capaldi not some Malcolm tucker. unbelievable
Beastois Malcom Tucker is a role he played in a TV series
Beastois Google be thy friend.
DoomRulz More like, the Doctor praises himself... wait that sounded cooler in my head
Peter was fantastic and so was Chris
My first ever Doctor Who episode was The Unquiet Dead. We were in Wales, appropriately enough. Been a fan ever since!
I may be on my own here but, Peter Capaldi is my favorite doctor.
Happy anniversary, Doctor Who! So glad to just be along for the ride.
I wish Christopher Eccleston could return back for one more episode. He is by far one of my favorite Doctors.
Was? Has he died?
gilliath87
No!
SuperTonyZero Oh good. That would be horrible.
One thing I find funny is that currently out of the 2789 likes and dislikes only 3 of them are dislikes. It makes me happy that so many like Doctor Who
My favourite Doctor discussing my first.
Same here
Best interview from the actor who is worthy to hold the TARDIS key!!! He was a born fan and knows his Who. The best description of what 2005 premier was like.
David tennent was my all time favorite doctor. and rose was my favorite companion. but I also loved Christopher Eccelston
Capaldi ❤️
Pls come back and save the Doctor Who :(
Took me right back to that Saturday night and watching the opening titles, then the episode. Thinking, “He’s back. Thank goodness for that.” I was a young boy again.
Great words, Mr. Capaldi!
Beautiful words. So glad someone cares about their roles past the paycheck!
Capaldi was a fan from when he was a little child watching Pertwee and Baker and such!
9 is my fav out of the reboot doctors
Mines Peter Capaldi and he is my 3rd favorite overall.
XDEV He is amazing, but I haven't seen enough
Chris has to return someday! I'm still hopeful!
They're not reboot doctors. They're continuations of the original show
Noah Caboose 9 and 10 were both fantastic, but 12 has to be the best out of the reboot Doctors. A couple more Seasons and he may end up being the best of all time.
I love Peter Capaldi for understanding the love for Doctor Who
Capaldi is living a dream.
In other words Capaldi's saying that they were..............*_Fantastic!_*
God I miss Nine. He was my favorite Doctor.
"yeah , this guy is doctor who"- Peter Capaldi about Christopher Eccleston.
Miss Mr Fantastic and Rose!!!
Well put, Mr. Capaldi!
Tennant's was "Oh yeah, Barcelona."
Smith's was "Hello. I'm the Doctor."
Capaldi hasn't had one yet. At least for me.
"Listen" I think that's a good one for him? What do you think?
He's a great Doctor but the writers just haven't given him one of those moments yet, crossing fingers we get one in season 9
I honestly Can't wait!
"Don't be lasagna"
SoOddLife Listen is an interesting episode and builds on the mythology of the Doctor in an interesting way. But it didn't have a moment that cemented Capaldi as the Doctor for me.
Agree, i really remember that line when the doctor talked about feeling the earth rotating. that's basically when he had me curious and i had to continue watching. im really glad i did.
I miss Eccleston and Capaldi so much
HOPE DOCTOR WHO MAKES IT TO 100 YEARS. :) THATS BE BRILIANT AND FANTASTIC.
Allons-y
I couldn't agree more, Mr. C!
As much as I love Tennant,Smith, and Capaldi, Eccleston was my doctor (well at least as far as New Who is concerned. Tom Baker was my absolute favourite)
10 year anniversary of the new doctor era thank you Christopher without you we wouldn't have doctor who again
The fact that Peter Capaldi says "Doctor Who" instead of "The Doctor" shows how much of a diehard fun he is
@The Program Yeah, that's a fair point! It's just sad seeing how he hates his involvement now
He's still my favorite Doctor to this day. Happy anniversary, New Who!
2 Daleks, 4 Cybermen, 3 Sontarans, 2 weeping angels, and Master disliked this video.

Kaito Kaze I wrote the comment for comedic effect when the video only had one dislike. Don't worry, I'm not going to judge anyone :P
...AND I AM ALSO WATING FOR SEASON 9!!!.... ...yeah!..
Peter Capaldi pretty much sums up what every fan of Doctor Who felt like when they sat down to watch Rose in 2005. And he does it brilliantly!
Nine will always be my Doctor, the one who introduced me to it all.
I could listen to Peter talk about literally anything for the rest of time
@HARRYRANTS Okay. Completely irrelevant to what I just said but okay.
@HARRYRANTS I literally haven't talked about the show at all, who says I don't agree with you?
@HARRYRANTS Maybe, but still completely irrelevant to my original comment
This is the closest thing that I can get to having Twelve say Rose’s name or even mentioning her 😭
No doubt about it Christopher eccleston's doctor in the comeback in 2005 set the benchmark for all other actors. . it was sad to hear about him leaving because he encapsulated everything doctor who was about . You could see a few of the previous doctors in his personality ( vulnerability of Peter davisons doctor and the mad energy of Tom bakers doctor). He was in a word FANTASTIC!. lol
Eccleston was the best new Doctor and Rose Tyler was the greatest companion.
Marc Allen Even when I went back and watched reruns after not watching Rose for a long time I still didn't like Martha :/
Aw, I love Donna!
+Marc Allen Donna was the best. So much heart.
+Marc Allen I agree. I found Donna overly annoying and I was waiting not very patiently for a new companion to arise lol.
I returned to the show a couple of years back after some 35 years away (they had Tom Baker reruns on a public station in Memphis), and wasn't sure about it as I bought a package of Christmas specials. But the work of David Tennant, Matt Smith and especially Peter Capaldi, has made it worth getting all of the modern series, plus a few old favorites, on disc to see again.
peter your the best doctor ever!
That's extremely generous
9, 10, 11 are better :I
Capaldi is brilliant, one of the best, he echoes the character's central core akin to the superior original series. The 4th Doctor came top of the official BBC poll during the 50th Anniversary as the 'Nation's Favourite Doctor'.
4th 11th 10th 12th in that order
4th, 12th, 3rd, 10th, 5th, 9th, and then they all just kind of blur together after that, to me, LOL!
Gotta love Peter Capaldi. He was brilliant as Doctor Who. When he spoke and he gave many speeches, he brought a real gravitas to the role.
10 more years!

Well, you were doing great until you misspelled "they're." Aside from that, not bad.
I love how much of a geek Capaldi is Now when he passes the torch to the Thirteenth Doctor, he'll be able to go back to being just a fan, the difference being that he'll be able to say "You know the Twelfth Doctor's my favorite one" and be talking about HIMSELF.
Peter is so sweet, this is awesome!
