They are worlds apart. South Africa as a former British colony apes British education systems. CA(SA) is a localised version of the British one. CPA in India or Australia is somewhat different but CPA USA is not an accounting institute as such but a state issued licence to practice public accounting in a specific state in America. British Accounting qualifications like CIMA, ACCA, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) which is the original body from which other country specific bodies like SAICA, ICAEW, CAANZ spurn off from are all actual professional accounting bodies which issue certification and therefore reciprocal agreements.
I am a student at the Durban university of technology. I am doing diploma in Taxation I am in my second year ( 2024 ). I have a desire to become a chartered accountant. My financial accounting lecturer told me that I can become a chartered accountant, can you advice me on what steps to take after finishing my diploma. Thank you.
Your lecturer is the one who's supposed to tell you the process cos they understand your curriculum. Also if they're lying to you you'll only notice by speaking to them. So....
