- UPDATE: the original creator of the oc saw this and we had a good laugh about it. I’m still in awe.

i start watching a few youtubers who like sonic and suddenly youtube thinks im obsessed with sonic
im not mad though

@@dianaovalles4112 ive always been a casual fan of sonic so its been surprising how much youtubes been showing me sonic stuff
i made the same thing when i was like 9, i stole a happy tree friends oc (don't ask me how i knew about that show if i was 9, my parents didn't gave me that much attention back then), their name was Ale and she was a wolf, i really loved her and used her as a villain of my own story. I even draw a lot of her and posted on youtube. I don't think the creator knows about me but i'm really sorry that i stole their oc.
I have a character that was based of a oc someone created in animatronic world before the character creator update(so every time you wanted to use an oc, you had to remake it every time) at this point they probably forgot about it but i still remember him.
The character is max the fox, though i might change the name and design in the future due to his origin
I think I unintentionally stole a mlp oc when I was 6 or something but I can't remember it well lol, I actually ended up redesigning her recently because I was bored

When I first got into the series I found this one oc that I really liked and made it on Sonic pulse rp for roblox, but I eventually had to remake the character because I went to a new account and she got a redesign and I still use this oc

Oh Haha, the drawing looks good! I'm sure they'd forgive you, I also used to look up Sonic oc's on Google and steal the designs, except I knew it was wrong yet did it anyways with the logic of 'I'll never get caught' ... I'd be mortified if I found someone stealing one of my babies, ofc if they're a kid I'd go easy on em'.

I thought i was the only one who accidentally stole a sonic OC without knowing what their doing like when I was ten I looked up Samantha the hedgehog bc it's my real name and I wanted to find art but I found a OC that looks so good I decided to do something stupid and stole it and stole the person's art thankfully they reached out to me and let me know I was stealing their OC and like the stupid child I was I started begging to keep her oc but reminder I was 10 and wasn't know what I was doing but if the creator of that OC is seeing this some how I'm actually sorry I was 10 I was stupid back then

Tbh I agree that that oc looks cool. I had my fairs share of sonic oc’s (too many to count). My very first oc was a Mary Sue. And years later I made This oc Harmony the jackal she’s less overpowered then my first ^^. (Hence why my channel is based on my character)

I was accused of stealing an undertale OC named astell (you could argue she was like..an AU version of her)

My oc was inspired by tangle from the idw comics with the whole tails being their main power thing except instead of my oc making her tail longer she makes it bigger so its just different enough

Sonic OC Maker?
this seems to be at least 1 year old and i see on the video and comments there's these mistakes that most newbies do, i'm not an expert or professional but i'd like to give some advice based on the experience i collected since 2016 (when i started drawing)
1. DON'T TAKE ART THAT SERIOUSLY - it's supposed to be fun, what i mean from this? it's not okay to steal a character of course but there's also no need to be anxious to "not copy others" or "not base on others" because that's specifically how a good character desing and art in general works, it's good that you apologized but i feel it was uneeded, it's not like you're going to drawing jail, these things are normal, as how a lot of people started by drawing Sonic and then they create their own characters, just be cool and have fun, art shouldn't be THAT serious bussiness
2. i saw someone say "i used to steal poses from others" let's start from the part that you can't steal a pose, poses are not something you can simply say "oh it's mine" the mere idea is nonsensical so it's okay, it's always different even if you copy the composition, perspective, and so on and on, it's still yours because it has details that only you can do, you'll do it in your own way, it's literally the same as doing a redraw and there's nothing wrong with it so don't stress too much thinking "oh i used the same pose as this artist i might get in trouble"
and 3. try not doing this for the sake of attention, i don't mean like the kind of person that goes "look guys i draw, i'm cool" what i mean is that you should do it because you want to, if you do it for likes and that stuff you're gonna degrade your mental state, drawing quality and capabilities, it's a much more complex topic but i'm trying to say to not focus on how good others are doing and you're not, don't focus on likes or retweets, don't focus if X artist does better than you, it's like doing workout, you might feel you're stuck but it's part of the process, in fact, you would be underestimating yourself and that blinds you for the potential you have and need to develop, art and drawing as an extent, is something that needs to grow over time, little by little so don't rush it there's plenty room and time for improvement so keep it simple and calm, there's no need for perfection and no one actually expects you to do an amazing artwork because that's not the rule, it's the exception and in order to be that exception you need to build up your skill, your knowledge resulting on making your own style and doing your artwork distinctive and unique
(also keep in mind, a artstyle is not something you seek, is something you develop, everytime you learn and apply something new you're making and improving your artstyle, of course there's artstyles that can be learned but that still is fuel for your own artstyle which is nothing more than the manifestation of what you've learned)
