It's so sweet that you're not changing her name in honor of Jacob. I have a sonic oc named after my late grandmother, she's the one who encouraged my passion for art and Sonic. That character is named Rebecca, and I don't plan on changing it. So I completely understand why you don't want to nor feel the need to change SNT's name

I love how you created SNT. Even though she’s kind of a Mary Sue I still love her. I’m very sorry for your loss. If Jacob was still here I bet he’d be happy to see how popular SNT has gotten.
What to say about this? This is quite an interesting story about how you created your most important character and it gives us a lot more detail into her original beginnings that you had at the time. It was interesting to hear about her first design, backstory and even her name before it was changed to the one we all know. It is also nice to hear the story of your cousin who gave you the iconic name in the first place. I love how you've edited the video with the text and the use of the chibi artstyle, it gave me a huge smile and made me chuckle a few times. It's a pretty adorable fun video that hopefully does satisfy the most frequent question about what SNT stands for.
As for the ending, the answer to why you've kept the name "SNT" instead of changing it to "SKT" was the kind of sad I wasn't expecting. I knew it was going to be sad, I didn't expect it to be heartbreaking. I am sorry that your cousin, Jacob, passed away due to a drunk driver hitting him. Your cousin was the biggest influencer of your life and hearing the tragedy of it all, completely breaks me into tears and anger and I wished you made that trigger known before instead in the middle of the video. It was so shocking...
The reason of keeping SNT's name instead of changing it, is not complicated at all. In fact, it's really sweet. It is really sweet of you to keep the name, not just because it sounded great to you, because you kept it in his memory. It is very much understandable that changing it now will feel so wrong and I very much agree with that.

Man, Idk why but I'm in the same situation as you in regards of keeping a name a friend who passed away gave me.
Back in my early teen years, I had a friend who introduced me to anime such as Inuyasha, Naruto, etc. We drew our own original/fan characters and she called me Shinana. It's a name that stuck that I gave to my OCsona and FC for DBZ.
*TW: Student/Teacher relationship, Gun & Suicide*
About almost 9 years ago, my friend who had moved away to pursue her dream job and go to college started a complicated and forbidden relationship with a married man who was her professor at her college, and he was twice her age. I'm not sure on the entire details but I'm sure he lead her on, her being young and naive. He gave her a gun for protection due to the neighborhood where my friend lived. Well when the professor chose to stay with his wife, my friend fell into despair and with the same gun he gave her, she took her own life.
So I keep the name Shinana for sentimental value because giving it up would feel like a disrespect to her memory.
I'm sorry about the loss of your friend. I hope you will treasure your friend’s memory like Courtney did. 😔

2. Now that I think about it, the 'n' in 'SNT' actually makes a lot of sense considering the 'K' in 'Knuckles' is a silent letter, hence making it sound like 'Nuckles' instead of 'Knuckles'.
I would like to think we all have our own characters that we've held close to our hearts for years. Before I say anything else, as someone who almost lost thier mom in a horrible car accident because of a irresponsible driver, I feel for you. Me and my sister were thankfully not in the car and my mother survived. I couldn't image what it would've been like to loose her like that. I hope Jacob is in peace.
My original character I've had for a long time would be the one in my profile picture. Her name is Chara Paige Hails. I created her when I super into Undertale (Hence the name "Chara") but I've never had the heart to change her first name because of what she represents to me as a fictional character.
She grew up with me- she was essentially the "Chara from Undertale" with a personality for roleplay purposes. Now that I'm older and have taken an interest in creative writing, she's no where near the Undertale fan character she used to be. She lives in her own universe, has a developed story, a developed personality and such.
She's just really important to me and the name "Chara" just stuck. I don't ever plan on changing it. I've tried "Cara" and "Kara" but those didn't seem right. She's been through so many design changes and has been with me throughout my childhood and now she's staying with me till adulthood. I'll never let her go.

The name “SNT” just fits her.
What I like about the name SNT is just how different it is compared to the classic Sonic character names. Instead of being a description or an thing, like Rouge, Big, or Knuckles, it's just three letters that roll well together. I like it that way! :)
I lost my older sister in a motorcycle accident 3 years ago, so I understand how seemingly little things that remind us of them are important. 💜💜💜

Funnily enough, you and I had similar concepts for a Sonic OC that were created in a similar way. I too would play pretend Sonic with friends on the playground and created a female character that was meant to be a combination of Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails (Leaning more on the Tails side for mine). I never did draw the character I created, but maybe I should? And then redesign them to be less cringe X'D. I don't think I ever gave them a proper name other than Super Tails?? (I don't remember lol). I played with two boys and they kept trying to get me to play Amy, but I wanted to play Tails. I also thought Tails was a girl at the time, pff. Which I guess kind of spurred me into creating a female Tails.
I feel for you on what happened to your cousin and the sentimental value of SNT's name. I'm sorry for your loss. I had a cousin who was like a sister to me when I was 3 and she was 12. She had a SNES at the time and was who got me into playing video games, specifically Mario. I lost her when her family's home caught fire, her and her pets being the only ones that didn't make it. So I know what it's like to have a family tragedy at a young age, especially when it's someone who made an impact on your life. I still play Mario games now and both Mario and Nintendo have a special place in my heart because I feel like I'm playing the games with my cousin again, which is also why I try to play any new Mario games because I want her to enjoy them too.

Female, blue hedgehog, named Sonya, except she had the same hair as Amy, without the bangs she had, she had Straight across bangs.
But wore a crop top and low rise jeans.
She was also biologically made 😭

I loved this and I love how willing you were to share this with us I can understand why you didn’t change her name I’m the same way with an OC I made when I was 5 my great grandmother named him TJ and it was a great bonding moment because she told me to make two OC’s TJ and one that I would name, I named her Cotten candy. About two months later she passed away. I remember asking my mom to go to gramy’s room and she told me she wasn’t there I said ok I’ll wait for her to come back. And my mom gave me the talk about how no one lives forever and how life isn’t a fairytale... I broke down crying... so many of my friend tell me to grow up and that sonic is a kids thing but If I gave up on TJ it would be like giving up on my grandma so I will always love the sonic franchise. So I truly understand how that impacted your decision on keeping her name.
