- The Manipur Cabinet on Thursday decided that people living in unrecognised villages in the state can no longer receive government schemes such as MGNREGS. The decision came two days after Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that several officials had given recognition to hill villages for the benefit of their community, without obtaining approval from the state government. He had also said that residents of such villages would not get government facilities. On-point decodes with an expert panel.

Why is crying and objection coming from only Kukis? There are other 30 more communities from whom no objection arises, only Kukis! It certainly shows some apprehensions towards them. While all communities are abiding govt rules, why shouldnt apply same to Kukis? Are they God's sons? Objections in everything including NRC, border fencing, unrecognised villages.....etc. Some are very familiar in identifying the loopholes of laws and they are are taking advantage of that and they are talking about it 😂😂😂😂

Less than 10 pc of the state share funded by the centre is not evenly utilised for the hills and since 3rd May,2023, no development fund is released to the kuki-zo. Just imagine logistically, their survival without the financial support. Yet again, to subdue them more and more policy coming up.
To keep the Meitei population in good humour & with no other option in hand Biren Singh as usual has to devise his game plans by switching agendas. This is part of his game to victimise a particular community.

A village in 1950 has 20 families, each family has 5 siblings each, now in 2024 how populated would that village be, so some move out a settle where they can meet their ends need, say for bamboo shoot, for cultivation. You are educated , research for yourself and try to know the way and culture of theirs. And note that a trible in Andaman may not be living the same way in another island
Recognition of villages procedure is done through Tribals affairs n Hils department..... N the department take up the matters to the cabinet to be recognised or not that's proper way of recognition

These unrecognised village people shall be termed, the second citizen or the later citizens of India. ... Will they not be entitled to a catagory because some villages will be in the list.

Kuki-Zomi group alleged State sponsored persecution on the communities. If Karthikeya is to accept statements from State Govt, does he bother to question the followings:
1. Does News9 ever conduct any independent assessment/investigation to confirm the claims of State Govt apart from their (State Govt )own statements or statement of a non authorized persons?
2. Village cannot be considered illegal immigrants but people can be. So, does the Govt have sufficiently approved statistics to back its tall claim of illegal immigration?
3.Where is the list of the so called unrecognized villages? Satellite images could be deceiving as localities in a village could be sparsely distributed that one village is treated as multiple villages or vice-versa.
4. May be there is no properly laid down rules for authorization of new village nor proper audit carried out before coming up with this statement. Can we ask the Govt for their response?
5. How come so many alleged illegal activities such as immigration, unauthorized villages, poppy cultivation comes up after the ethnic conflict? Is there truth to the statement of Army Chief that there is war of narratives ongoing in the State (possibly State Govt peddling narratives against the Kuki-Zomi communities)?

The premise of the argument of the Prof is development activities to have access to health and education. Please see the proximity of the newly develop village of KukiZo to facilities of health and education facility. Creation or establishment of a new Village with 5/6 houses is very funny customary practices. This happens at most of the remote opposite or other sides of the hill terrains. When the Kuki-Zomi population are scattered to neighbouring states and big cities in India because they are chased away from Imphal and their villages in the periphery of the Hill-Valley divide (Mizoram Govt provide food & shelter in Mizoram to almost 20K such displaced people), it is beyond my reason to think that refugees from Myanmar come to Manipur? Someone running for fear of fire will not jump into another fire. Beside, it is worth keeping in mind that Mizoram Govt accommodate refugees from Myanmar and any refugees are likely to proceed to Mizoram than a hostile Manipur.

The entire discussion is misdirected. The question has to start from the finding of an unreasonable sudden jump in the population size of the kuki community since 2006. The issue of recognising villages is secondary. It is to be based on the unreasonable increase of the population size of a community beyond the permissible limit of population statistics during a stipulated period. This would easily prove the unscientific increase of population by leaps and bounds . The increased bo of villages is based on it.
