You are correct this is set between the first two movies but this is a different planet and is a stand alone film. Notice it has rings, in Alien and Aliens planet LV426 the planet did not have rings. He did mention there will be a slight hint of a connection to Prometheus and Covenant.
Please do an Alien revisited series. It’s my favorite franchise. I also completely agree with you about the main character/final girl. I’m hoping we don’t know who it is like the first movie.

I just thin we need to give this film and directora a chance i mean come on its one of the best Directors of all time doing this now, yeh Ridley Scot was a producer on this and not sure of the creative input he had but i think we have to give the content we have so far pure grace and praise as it's gotten me excited about the franchise again.
I 100% agree with Jason. Don't make a main character, that way everybody is at risk of dying. Or at least kill her off in the middle of the film, that would be cool too. We just need the stakes to be super high and we need originality which is somthing so hard to come by. I love Alien, Aliens and Prometheus. I hope this is a great film.
It looks great, Alverez made a brilliant film in the evil dead, i think the films in safe hands. i totally agree with you guys on plot armour, thats why the original was so good, maybe it was the age that i saw alien and so i wasn't well versed in horror tropes,but i think the original is set up like it as well in the script; Ripley isnt highlighted as being the main character from the get go and i definitely didnt expect Dallas to die. Still this will be 1000x better than resurrection and so im all for it haha

Guys it is out there for you to discover where this is set in the timeline. So when Ripley blew the alien out of the god dam airlock as explained in Aliens in between her doing that and her being found is where this film sits and really cleverly so. think about it Aliens was about them going out there to get a specimen of this so what sparked this of in Weyland/Yatani corp/ so then comes after this is that Ripley is found she gets put on a military mission that's disguised to actually retrieve the Xenomorph but the plans go wrong and Burk does not realise what he has gotten himself into because he does not know what he is trying to profit from. so thats the jist of the in between movie which in all honesty i am looking forward to and have not been this excited for a movie for the past 7 years.
This is gonna fuck so hard! A long time Is a long time fan of Alien, (my parents took me to the original at 6.🤣) I can honestly say This is the closest I've seen alien.Franchise come to the original or the sequel.
