Can you make a video on how to achieve optimal health with vegetarian or vegan diet. I live in India where majority of population is vegetarian. Good fat source like Avacado is not readily available here. Milk products are available but hard to find grass fed
Greetings Dr Ekberg. Might I make a request? I (and my mother) have been following Dr. D'Damo and the blood type "diet" for years now. She due to contracting Hep C through a blood transfusion before I was born. Now, my question is, do you have an opinion on his study? I am type O, so, following your suggestions, I am pretty much ok lol as type O's refrain from wheat and dairy (or limit it at least) My mom is a type B. Nonetheless, I am simply curious if you might touch on blood types down the road. Thank you so very much for your teachings and presentations. I have learned and continue to learn through your channel and am greatful to have found you. Cheers
why are they labeled as homeopathic? if they are actually homeopathic, that means they are diluted to the point where one dose has about 1 or less molecule of actual ingredient.
I am a 41 years old male. On 30th of May 2023, I found your channel in TH-cam as I was searching how to cure my fatty liver. My blood pressure was 145/89 most of the time. I started cutting sugar and went to a mild keto from harshly full of carbs diet. Today, after 100 days, my blood pressure is 123/75 at all time. I lost almost 40 pounds, from 200 to 160 lbs. Thanks to your great videos.
@@qua7771so from my experience i think you should gradually decrese carbs anf sugar.. i went full keto only greens and meat and fat even tho im scared of fat like most ppl, (dont be afraid of fat but dont over do it)... i stop keto cuz of the rash and bcuz i heard there isnt too much research on it.. but honestly it did ease a pain in my lower right rib cage... so even if u dont trust full keto like me, just go low carb 💪

I use dumbbells to maintain muscle tone. I don't use them to lose weight. My routines are not lengthy or back breaking. They are effective because I use resistance and I try to use proper form and sufficient repetitions to get the muscles to respond. It's a process and the key to success is to never stop moving; taking too long of a break by sitting for days doing nothing. If I can't lift a dumbbell, I go for a long walk and do 2 miles or more daily.
@@sharonlasper8999 the weight I use depends on what exercise I am performing. I use heavier dumbbells when I squat, 35-45#, verses shoulder presses between 12 - 20 #. Biceps I might do a superset increasing the weigh from 10, 12 to 15#. I use kettlebells too.

Thanks. This episode inspired me to do further research. I discovered that exercise also supplements the listed suggestions you made that maintains and supports a healthy metabolism. 👍
My experience: I tried IF for about a year. Basically, I just skipped breakfast, but then ate all 3 meals (plus my usual snacks) in between noon and 6 PM. No calorie deficit, no change in diet. My health continued to get worse, uses more and more insulin, BP continued to be very high even on 3 BP meds. Then I learned about ketovore. Eliminate all processed foods, primarily eating bacon and eggs 2 meals per day between noon and 6 PM. IF with Ketovore for 1 year now. No more insulin with normal blood sugar, normal BP with no meds. Lost 70 pounds. And NO exercise , I have horrible diabetic neuropathy and can barely walk. Starting to do a little walking now, as the healing continues hoping I can begin exercising. More energy, feel much better. Ketovore+IF for LIFE!
I went through something similar these last 5 years. Toe amputation Oct 2018 ...Started Total 9 day fast ....got off of insulin immediately upon leaving hospital, got off Metformin in weeks , lost 70 lbs , still some neuropathy , but got on & off of Gabapentin ( Which is a nasty addictive head trip ) Don't go for GP as a treatment for Neuropathy it is NOT ...keep up the walking ...keep your feet WARM ....Go out in the 🌞, get 🌞 on the soles of your feet ...Consider occasional aspirin , fresh garlic , onions , etc...epsom salt , etc ...I am 65 & still having some other issues ....I seem to be moving toward this 60/ 12 idea which I seem to have had recent success with ...
Similar to that worked for me also. 12-5 PM. No carbs or alcohol to kick-start. Still works and now I can make the occasional exception. Lost 65 lbs, 34"waist again. Numbers are all good. Moderate exercise.
@@Koji-888 🤠 No Sugar no Bread and the weight will fly off. I lost an amazing 17 pounds in the first week. What will happen then is your lost of appetite because sugar drives 🚙eating. Good luck and come join us
We tried eating breakfast at 8am and lun/supper at about 4:30 then nothing till the next day. Took three days to get the hang of the schedule but lost 20 lbs in approximately 80 days. Really without any cravings etc. Also reduced carbs. Not full Keto. Listened to Dr Ekberg a lot before doing it. It worked for me.
@@saraht4973 I did the same thing! I now eat twice a day now. Breakfast at about 8 am, the second meal at 4:30 pm. I've lost 15 lbs in the last 6 weeks. I don't do the proportions but I am doing just keto foods. 🙂👍
Thank you for another excellent video! I recently lost 35lbs following your advice and fully intend to integrate KETO, whole foods, exercise into my long term approach to health. At 64 I've lost and gained too many times to count and am very aware that being now close to my goal weight I am in danger of starting to gain. This time I'm doing it differently. Instead of food addiction I'm now addicted to your videos lol 😃
I am 44, been doing low carb for 5 years now! The way I feel now is night and day! Like he said in the video, you have to commit long term. The most pleasant surprise to me was how much easier it gets after about 2 year (thats what it took me anyway) for my taste buds to change. Now I LOVE the foods I hated before. I hated black, unsweetened coffee, now if there is any sweetness at all it is disgusting and I want to spit it out! What?!?! Its blows my mind. I crave my sardines and eggs. I have this broccoli salad made with yogurt and balsamic vinegar and cream cheese that we find so good my partner and I consider it dessert 🤣 It really is life changing and I wish you the best of luck 🤗
Thank you @nr4930 for sharing your great results and helping inspire others. That is so awesome. I am thrilled that you have seen such great results. Addiction to my videos is the only kind I fully endorse. 😉
Hey Doc, your videos started me in my journey to better health. So far, I went from 218 to 204 (just checked today) and this video just adds to the library of priceless knowledge I have for the rest of my days - Thank you again 🙏
Dear Dr Ekberg, I am an insullin diabetic trying to do the 5 day fast, but new to your Awesomely informative videos, I am so very confused on how I can do this... can an insullin-dependent diabetic actually Do a 5 day fast? If so, how?? How do I Not take insullin, and survive thru a 5 day fast? Do you have a video about this yet? Thank you!!
Wow I’ve never seen a more detailed, precise and informative video in my life about weight loss and understanding how the body works. I’ll never forget this. Thank you Dr. you’re a genius and a huge asset to this planet

to recap on this life-saving info and education -watch the full video, like and sub to Sten - avoid processed foods (avoid artificial flavorings, chemical additives) -short term and intermittent fasting -eat to satisfaction (low carb-high fat, plenty of protein) -build more muscle mass -don't diet -stay active (HITT or low intensity) -keep insulin levels balanced (try not to eat high GI foods, stop sugar) -look after your liver (minimal alcohol, no seed oils or unnatural fructose) -take care of your microbiome and stress levels - no quick list replaces a good educational video
Thanks Dr Sten I have been following you for 1month and I have lost a stone im 55 years and always into sport but its been harder to get back in shape. Ive followered your teaching on food and exercise and wow!!! Thank u
I’ll be 65 on Christmas Day. I’ve always been proud of never having been seriously ill (despite not much exercise and not a great diet as a sugar addict). I guess so far i’ve been lucky. HOWEVER in the last couple of years my middle has expanded and piling on wobbly flab. My eyesight has got worse, loads more skin tags popping up. I know if I don’t grab a hold of my health it will be fast downhill from here on! So started fast yesterday at 72.5 kilos. Quite chubby because i’m only 5ft1ins tall. Looking forward to this new journey!
Boy I needed this!! So much dieting throughout my 70 yrs. My set point is 190!! I'm 5'6 female so this needs to be 135-40. I'm struggling on this plateau right now for 2weeks. I so want to say forget this. Thanks so much for the BUMP!
I am 70 and following a healthy lifestyle with intermittent fasting, dropped 32 lbs in less than 2 yrs. So you can do it as you learn healthy habits from Dr Ekberg and others. All the hours of research have paid off. I went from systolic BP of 160+ down to 120 or less! My doctor was so excited with my progress. Find a doc who believes in natural foods and supplementation to achieve your goals. Good luck!!!!
I agree about the "processed foods". I am fortunate to not eat processed foods. Fresh vegetables and sufficient protein, minimal carbs; between 20g and always under 50g daily. Sometimes no carbs at all. My body reacts to low carbs. I am still learning and trying to maintain a level of discipline. Thank you...
I love this channel. Dr explains in very understandable way what is going on in our body. I was in really bad health, fatty liver, high BP, sugar out of control, cholesterol, on verge of obesity,,, pretty much whatever can go wrong, it went wrong. When I talked to acquaintance of mine, he said he can help me and in few months I cab forget about any pills and my weight. He also said, while he is guiding me, if I ever feel that something is wrong, to tell him. 6 month later, all problems gone, keto and IF worked fine with some tweaks, but that guy did not explain me what was going on. After videos from this channel, now I have understanding what was wrong.
Thank you Dr. Ekberg! Very informative!! I’m really grateful I found your channel. I am learning so much about how the body actually works and how to help it thrive. Keep educating us with your amazing knowledge!! 🤩👍🏼
Dr. Ekberg, you do a great job at breaking down the systems to be understandable and also putting everything into context. It's so helpful in actually getting healthy.

36-48h fast all way up. Lost 8 kg in 3 weeks. Dropped weight from 95kg to 87 kg until now. Only meat and salad. No exercise. Did this 3 times a week till now. And will continue.☝️‼️
@@Simon1985_ Yes. And it worked. I do not recommend to this 48h fast to do just 1 times a week or a month. Its not worth it. At least for me. My body is very stubborn to lose weight/fat. Even 8/16 or OMAD is a joke to my body. I stopped after 5 weeks. I weight actually 85 kg.
@@somerandomnoob100 Hi there. My body stopped dropping weight for 2-3 month...everytime I ate my meat and salad I gained again 3 kg from 85 to 88kg... I discovered a new methode from Dr. Sean O'Mara in TH-cam. I started and added only sprinting to my schedule. Meat, Salad and Sprint! No other high intensive training is allowed. My weight dropped from 88kg to 76kg in 3-4 month. No fasting since then! Actully I am stucked at 76kg. The weight jumps from 76 to 79kg and back to 76...My aim is 73kg. Haha I think now is the consistency asked to get the 73kg 💪🙌🤣
As usual, great job. You always do a deeper and more comprehensive dive into the subject matter. It's very rare in this time of short attention stance and negative incentives for doing so. Thx
Thank you @4angayoga. I really appreciate your feedback. It is very refreshing in contrast to all the comments asking for 5 minute summaries. They just don't get how real learning works. 😄
Another excellent video Doctor Ekberg. Thank you for this information . I just shared with my loved ones. I’m super thankful for your videos and the scientific/physiological explanation behind why we should do these things. I’ve learned so much and applied it to my life. I truly am grateful. God bless you!
I've been expirementing with fasting awhile now. OMAD worked only for a short time. I do 16/8 now.. normally 9 to 5.. give ir take 30 minutes. I love it and it's working well.
[12:30] If the body reduces energy expenditure when intake is reduced, then why doesn't the body increase energy expenditure when energy intake is increased to defend the set point? In other words, why would the body allow the set point to rise?
I agree wholeheartedly with this. I've been the most healthy and kept the weight down without doing exercises when I was doing intermittent fasting(not on purpose, lifestyle just made me get into an intermittent eating habit), and I was mainly eating vegetables with high on fat meat; barely any carbohydrates. I lost over 30lbs without doing any exercises and I never felt low on energy. This was a time when I was extremely busy from early morning til midnight(full time job+full time college). This was in my late 30s so my metabolism wasn't close to peak. But this lifestyle the healthiest. I gained a lot of weight back because I had to change lifestyle due to a really funky IT work schedule. I'm planning to go back to the intermittent fasting with high fat and vegetables mainly.
Epic video, I learned so much. Watching multiple times. Thank you. No way I could ever acquire this knowledge on my own. And 36 in minutes. Gratitude 🤜🤛
Really really really very resultful .I loosed almost all belly, within 20days.Meal is 1_zero sugar.2_roti replaced by 4 egg'white omlet.3 more sabji( without)aalu4 one papad & meal at 12 noon& 6 pm.I am 68yr .
Thank You @stevewhalen6973 so much for showing your appreciation and supporting the channel, and for helping me get the message of health out to the world. 🙏 🏆 😄
I lost 30 lbs in 30 days eating only "super healthy foods" My doctor was shocked. No extra exercising. I WAS EATING TWICE AS MUCH FOOD WITCH IS EXPENSIVE WHEN EATING HEALTHY. I gained back 10 lbs over a year by eating more "normal foods". My Doctor says right now i need to lose 35 to 40 lbs to be "healthy". I PLAN TO COMBINE THE INFO IN THIS VIDEO ALONG WITH EATING SUPER HEALTHY AGAIN TO REACH MY GOAL AND MAINTAIN THAT WEIGHT. Thanks for all the very informative video's
Thanks Dr. Ekberg, your content is so beneficial, life changing. You have had such an impact in my life over the past year. I spent two decades of my life trying to get in good physical health and was not successful but since I have followed you I have regained my health, and am living my ideal body weight. Even my skin glows, my blood pressure and cholesterol are normal and I just feel beautiful inside and out because of this change. Your advice elicits real results, long lasting and it's a life changing. Thank you for the positive impact you are having in our lives. I appreciate you wholeheartedly.
Thank you @anafreire9078 for sharing your great results and helping inspire others. That is so awesome. I am thrilled that you have seen such great results. Keep it up! 😄
I watch your videos every day and you are changing my life step by step ! Thank you ,thank you, thank you. I only wish I had found you 40 years ago, when I was 30 ! But I believe it's never too late !
Doc! This was a 10! At 19min. You clarified a key... that is the transition to fat storage as opposed to insulin simply assisting in the feeding of the cell...now with insulin resistance comes more storage (fat) and a lower metabolic rate which is the beginning of the end so to speak. Lost lean muscle and lower metabolic rate equals a roller coaster of fat accumulation and ill health.
These lectures are actually awesome 👍 this gives us the difference between logically preaching vs typical doctors who just prescribe and preach. Thanks a bunch!!
Deep respect to you Dr Ekberg! I discovered your channel a few weeks ago and adhered to your great advice .... Im feeling better, my acid reflux has almost gone and im losing weight, heading back to my regular skinny self 👍🏻 My GP would have had me on dangerous medications which i refuse to take .... Much gratitude and respect ☺️ ❤️🇬🇧
Great health Champion much respect to you for taking steps to improve your health also great respect for knowing how to spell "losing" correctly.😊 You just don't see it that frequently anymore🍽
Great video as always. What about skinny old guys who've always been skinny, a bit malnourished and do a physically demanding job? We exist! A lot of these keto / carnivore channels seem aimed predominantly at the overweight, but we "scrawnies" can also have a messed-up metabolism...& struggle with anaemia like me. Please could you do a nutrition advice video aimed specifically at this demographic? I'm sure I'm not alone.
Adding more beef to your diet should help you gain lean mass. It’s the highest dietary source of both carnitine and creatine, which help create muscle. Will help your anemia too.
You’re doing an amazing service to humanity! Thank you for all of the intellectually compelling information together. Calculating & resetting our metabolism is definitely what we all need answers to accomplish. Having water that’s not polluted with unmetabolized pharmaceuticals like: birth control, statins, pain killers, and antidepressants is another factor to be considered in this complex equation.
I like to say that aging is the accumulation of damage. It is accelerated if repairs are disabled. Disuse was an interesting approach, it seems unclear since it is also a result of aging. Anyways, thank you for continuing to raise the bar.
You make it sound like we are optimized for moving continually around the landscape, analyzing the situation, and occasionally leaping on to and subduing hapless creatures. Makes me think I shouldn't have bought that new couch
I did the 120 hour fast (only water) and it was surprisingly easy. I eat OMAD anyway and have done up to 72 hours fasting but struggled a bit with those 36-72 fasts. Only on day 3 did my tummy have some loud growling noises but I wasn't actually hungry. I could have easily extended to another day but I was taking an overnight bus and didn't want to have my first meal just before I got on a bus. 😉 I kept up with electrolytes and pretty much kept to my normal 7-10k steps a day. I didn't run daily, but I felt like I could have. It helped that I was in the process of moving and had no food in the house. I had already sold my fridge and cleared out the cabinets so water was all I had...and it was 39-45°C each day. So electrolytes were crucial. 10/10 would recommend this fast. I've felt better since...and more careful of what I put in my body. ℹ️ Insulin resistant, lupus, pcos, pots. My usual WOE = Vegan and no sugar/fruit/fake sugars. No processed foods. Keto-esque = good fats (EVOO, avocado oil, hemp oil, MTC, etc), mod protein (tofu, hemp hearts, seeds, nuts, etc), low carbs. Eat in a -300 calorie deficit. Run 5km per day, weight stuck for months....months! Hoping the 120 day fast shifted something inside. 🤞
May you make a video on how to know if one's too thin or not; many people just keep on telling me that I'm "too" thin & that I must eat more to become like them who are insulin-resistant & have protruding bellies, dying livers & whatnot.
OHH NOOO I hope it's more than 3 weeks, because in the last 8 months I did start intermittent fasting, then I did 4 long fast, 8 days, than 21 days, 9 days, and right now I'm in at 12 days of a 21 days planned fast, now getting out of the fast I intend to go on a carnivore diet, to hope my setpoint will not be affect, , the reason of the long fast is to break my insulin resistance, a byproduct is that I lost 90 pounds, at 66 years! To bring my setpoint back up, I will be to go in a carnivore diet...to hopefully restore my set point, is that a good idea?
I am 40. Had high bp 157/120. Cut down weight, fasted for three days then went on intermittent fasting lost 5kg. Cut down carbohydrates by more than 80 % . My bp is not 130/98 in less than a month. Thanks for ur videos
This is reflective of an overall shift in societal psychology. During the Industrial Age, it was popular to analogize the body as a machine. In this Information Age which is reliant on networks and systems - physical, software, social, etc. - it's understandable to analogize the body in terms of interconnected systems. More accurate, I think.
This is invaluable information. I've struggled to lose weight all my life. What I noticed is when I was very disciplined and lowered my caloric rate to 1500 cal. (my BMR should be somewhere between 1600-1800 kcal) I still lost very little weight during these periods. I decided to try free feeding a whole foods, grain free, GF diet. Definitely was eating more calories but not gaining weight (not losing either) So I don't diet anymore. I'm miserable and don't lose weight. I only practice an improving intermittent fasting regimen with longer windows and better food choices. I would like to lower my set point, balance my hormones, heal my gut, get better sleep and get more active by reducing pain by trying a longer fast. This information is going to help me succeed with this goal. Thank you I just subbed.
Hi @dragnet53. Here are several videos on thyroid issues. You might want to start with the Thyroid Explained video www.youtube.com/@drekberg/search?query=thyroid Having a slow metabolism because of hypothyroidism will make it difficult to lose weight, but keep at getting healthy. 😀
A great overall look at the amazing process the human body uses to sustain itself. In awe of it's complexities and the realization that science is still making new discoveries all the time. There is so much that is still not known.
Love your videos... I totally enjoy having Euvexia while fasting ..the taste is phenomenal.. ...and the ingredients amazing. Gracias for creating an amazing electrolyte!! 👏

Your you tube Doctor consenting fasting and repairing my metabolic syndromes has greatly appreciated my existence in this life I possess Doctor! Thank you a thousands.
This was a super video Dr. Ekberg. I look forward to your Friday morning videos as I learn so much about my body and overall health. Your teachings have helped me to be in the shape of my life. One idea I have for a future video would be for you to do an extended fast. Maybe 3,5,7,10 days. You could share your blood work before and after. Also, what you went through during the fast. I do a 3 day fast every time month. Your new electrolyte product euLyte was really helpful during my last fast.
This is clearing up alot of uncertainties. I now have a general idea of how to loose this weight permanently. Studying everyday and applying knowledge is key❤❤
They are endocrine disruptors; they mess up your hormone/message system. Any times he speaks of a hormone that process is disrupted by pesticides. Long story short.
When I first started intermittent fasting (OMAD) I WOULD over eat because I had it in my mind that I had to eat as much as I could before fasting again. No, I wasn't eating processed food. It was a mindset. Plus I had watched videos that said I needed to get all my calories in that one window & my stomach just couldn't do it. So I didnt lose weight at first, and I would have horrible indigestion and stomach pain. I eventually found that 2MAD was for me, and that I should drink some of my calories (coconut milk & cream) throughout the day so there wasn't the mental pressure to eat everything all at once. I've also known other ppl who I.F. and do over eat because of their relationship with food. Just sayin. ✌🌸
Having a wider eating window helps me the same way; I don't tend to overdo it and hurt myself if I do 20:4 rather than 23:1. Like you say, 1 hour of eating just led me to cram as much food in my mouth as possible and then I felt sick. And it was all healthful, gut-building, unprocessed, clean food, too.

My set point has gone up 5 lbs a year on average. I have always struggled with this. Some have suggested a couple of 36 hour fasts. I have such a hard time with hunger.
Hi there, to control hunger, here’s what’s worked best for me and friends: start by adding a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to a water bottle, also take a Berberine supplement that has chromium. These two things regulate sugar and naturally reduce hunger over time. You will not feel deprived. The ACV is best taken during the day because it will wake you up, that’s why it’s great to drink with a meal that’s high in carbs to avoid food commas.
My late father had quadruple bypass surgery in his 60's after a life of heavy drinking, smoking, and eating rather poorly. After his surgery, his cardiologist said, "Move it or lose it," meaning move the body, exercise, stay active. Instead, he chose the recliner where he eventually passed in his 70's. Some of the best lessons we learn from our parents are from their mistakes.

Same here, what weight do you use? I use a 25kg and lift that every now n then through out the day.
‘Atta gals! 👍👍

I do the same that you do. This is my life style for years and I feel great in my 59.

To bring my setpoint back up, I will be to go in a carnivore diet...to hopefully restore my set point, is that a good idea?

This is similar to me. My blood sugar is just always low. Always low-normal A1C fasting and non.
Thank you @SalLazuka. Good idea. Why didn't I think of that. (Or did I?) LOL. 😄
This is clearing up alot of uncertainties. I now have a general idea of how to loose this weight permanently. Studying everyday and applying knowledge is key❤❤
Could you please talk about how pesticides affect the body?
They are endocrine disruptors; they mess up your hormone/message system. Any times he speaks of a hormone that process is disrupted by pesticides. Long story short.
One of your best videos. Thank you for everything you teach us. You are the Champion ❤

Thank you! If we are health champions, because of your leadership (for it is just that;) then you are our knight in shining intellect.

Brilliant in helping to understand metabolism! Thank you!!
Blue or whatever color he is a favorite ❤️
