    Hi Dr Ekbert, I wanted to say thank you for your assistance recovering my health. Im mid 60s. I
    started following your nutritional and intermittent fasting advice in November 2023. My results are as follows: weight loss 50 lbs (now 165lbs), BMI now normal, A1C from 7.9 to 4.8. HOMA-IR is now 1.21. My internist never once ordered an insulin test until I requested it ! One amazing result is my PSA has dropped from 12.4 to 5.55 . My urologist never mentioned diabetes all the years we were seeing my PSA rise, but now it's down he confirmed that reversing diabetes is the reason for dramatic improvement in prostate health. When my PSA rose from 6.3 to 12.6 it triggered two biopsies and two MRIs and ultimately a very expensive nuclear medicine test, fortunately I do not have prostate cancer , but NOBODY ever mentioned diabetes as a possible cause of prostate problems. You might follow up on the prostate health angle. Thanks again!

One of my biggest sadnesses last year was not having a lap for my grandbaby to sit on... Now I have a lap she can sit on and I run around with her more than her parents. I just found your channel. I am 61, started carnivore on 8/22 and have lost 60 lbs and was able to get off bp and reflux meds. In the last week I have started waking up in the night in a complete sweat with my heart racing, and I can feel my pulse all throughout my body 24/7. I am thinking stress as my sister just passed a few months ago, and I went to ER this week, they did a CT scan with dye and found a 6 cm ovarian cyst near my left ovary. My sister that passed had ovarian cancer so of course this is troubling. Going next week to start diving into this situation. My blood glucose was 168 at the hospital, but normally it is around 88 to 90, at least since I started my carnivore journey. Great information here.

    I was pre-diabetic, suffered from migraines a lot, my skin was full of achne, cravings all the time, bad mood when hungry, headaches if I delayed my next meal. And I was super skinny. My life changed by changing my food and habits. Now, I train 3-4 times a week, I gained 10 kgs, I just have 2 meals a day. I do 16/8 intermittent fasting every day. This is what I eat in total in those two meals most of the time: 250gr high fat meat, 1 avocado, 9 eggs, 6 slices of cheese, 2 strips of bacon, 2 cups of black coffee, some olives. I workout and lift weights fasted. After that, I come home and have my first meal. If I feel hungry, which is rare, outside my fasting window, I drink salty water with lemon. I take supplements: 5 gr of creatine for power, magnesium, and potassium. Never felt this great in my life.

    @Hustle-N-Flow หลายเดือนก่อน +156

    I’m 47 years old. My insulin and glucose was so high, I was forced to join keto, carnivore, and keto-carnivore immediately . My A1C was 16.1 and my resting glucose was 550. This explains why my lower blood pressure number wouldn’t drop below 98 after taking two blood pressure medicines.
    I’m a trucker and it’s difficult to eat well on the road and sleep well consistently with every day being different with appt times, traffic jams, and wait times to load and unload. I was 305 lbs at my highest a few years ago but with testing out water fasting methods and intermittent fasting, I was able to get down to 250 lbs but was stuck and only my top BP number could reach normal levels with BP medications
    After avoiding blood test due to hating needles, I gave in late 10/2024 and found out I was a diabetic. I immediately went to keto diet/carnivore diet and didn’t see any results but stayed on it knowing it may take 6 months to a year for results . I had a horrible diet for years and consuming lots of sodas daily, as much as 80 oz due to stress of the job.
    I’ve finally kicked my bad eating habits and finally I broke the 240lb barrier today 1/10/25, started weight lifting again and walking 4500+ steps per day. Since I don’t drive trucks from January to early April due to snow and ice, I’m going harder to reverse these numbers and become healthy again.
    I can remember being in tip top shape my senior year of high school in 1996 at 175lbs benching over 315 lbs and maxing out 18 reps of 225lbs and deadlifting over 400lbs to barely benching 150lbs now lol. I’m going to visit a doctor to check my results but not the one I visited back in 10/24 that prescribed me to take Metformin and insulin. It didn’t make sense to take more Insulin if I already had high insulin and so I knew Metformin had side effects. Thank God I was watching many of these TH-cam Doctors, especially Dr Ekberg.
    Instead of Metformin, I’m consuming Berberine twice a day before meals and now I’m keeping my carbs below 20 but consuming some broccoli or asparagus before my meals. Avocados, breakfast sausage,hamburger, bacon, pecans, and Rebel ice cream(made from lots of coconut oil and 1-3 carbs a serving)etc 1-2 meals a day has become my meal plan. I know my numbers have dropped because my weight is going down finally.
    Don’t give up if you been doing keto or carnivore and you don’t see immediate results like others. If your A1C and glucose is very high, it’ll take longer to see results but stay consistent and you will finally break through to becoming healthy again.

    Why can’t I get a doctor like this? 63 year old woman. 15 lbs overweight. Desk job. Been dropping my A1C for the last 18 months.I’ve resisted keto for a long while. It would not be sustainable for me. I eat Mediterranean, plant leaning, with meat a few times a week. My lab work isn’t terrible, but on the boarder of everything. I’m actively searching for a doctor that my insurance will cover. Current doctor not happy with me at all. If they say guidelines one more time, I may explode! As in you are in the guidelines for a statin, or guidelines for metformin. Nope. Just got approved for a Cgm, after fighting the insurance. Hopefully that gives me insight into my metabolism - post menopause. No one talks about all these numbers in relationship to older women! Functional medicine not being covered by insurance is the biggest outrage in healthcare today. It’s overwhelming trying to figure this out on my own. All that said, how many carbs in low carb, not Keto, but low carb. I get food is just 1 tool. Also following Dr Casey Means and Glucose Goddess.

      It is really poor of society that female-centered research has not been conducted more. Especially for the time approaching and after menoupase. Considering females make up just over half the population, that is a lot of fine people who have a paucity of health guidance, are likely to suffer more than men at their age.
      edit: The test 'normal' ranges are targets for "ideal". ie "model human, perfect health". Not many people are model humans or have ideal health. You can be 'fine', perfectly healthy and still have values outside of "ideal".

When I was diagnosed again with breast cancer, I told the surgeon that chemotherapy is hard no. So true about doctors only looking at results that are flagged as being out of range. I was diagnosed pre diabetic 3 months ago, when my HbA1C registered 47mmol/mol.
    But going all the way back to my first test 6 years ago, the results show it has gone - 35, 37, 38, 41 and finally 47. Its now obvious to me that all the signs showed I was heading that way, but it was ignored as I hadnt hit the prediabetic limit at 42. My resultbat 41 should have been a red flag, but the doctor ignored it. If only I'd known what I now know, I could have addressed it earlier!
    Now I've gone low carb, lost 9 kilos and 4" off my waist. Got a Cgm and watched what my body was doing, now, A1C is back to 34, where it last was 7 years ago...

  • @robinq5511
    @robinq5511 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    This progression of how to see if IR is improving or not is very helpful for me as I have seen some improvements over the past 5 years since going low carb Keto. But I have messed with my diet (went carnivore in 2022) and some labs have been better than others, making it difficult to gauge if what I am doing is of benefit or not. My skin tags were gone rather quickly but I still have a growth on one eye lid that my eye Dr says is not a skin tag and has been very stubborn - until about a week ago, it now seems to be shrinking. This is about 3 months after my last labs that showed a decrease in fasting insulin from 11 to 8 (previously it had been down to 4 when I was still strict keto and lost 80 lbs). A1C, TG and HDL all good the whole time. AST and LDL were not. Waist went up from 34 to 37 on Carnivore and visceral fat went up after I started exercise in 2023 and I gained 10 lbs (8 was muscle).
    My BG is pretty stable in the 80's but occasionally as low as 70 or higher in the 90's range - for short terms. I do intermittent fasting and my natural ketones run anywhere from .2 to .7; but I take exogenous ketones on workout days and use MCT oil because it helps my cognition, focus & energy on those days.
    I get headaches some mornings which I look at as probably dehydration so I put electrolytes in my water to treat it but stopped adding salt to my coffee because of my higher B/P.
    So you can see how confusion sets in since I have had all of those 10 signs at one time or another. Now if I could just lose those last 20 lbs! I feel like I have tried everything to get out of this stall which I am pretty sure was because of IR - even though it is getting better (I think)... (Female, age 75)

      @ I finally badgered my doc into ordering H1-c. Insulin has NEVER been tested. This is part of the reason that these national stats have such high diabetes levels. Just getting the fasting glucose masks the insulin levels. I was complaining of not being able to lose weight for 5 years with glucose being 99-or 100. It was a tip off…yet my doc remains unconcerned. His stance is diabetes is slow moving and at age 82, there’s NO problem. Maybe I have to get neuropathy before he thinks there is a problem. This entire situation was preventable. it’s going to take people like me SQUAKing loudly to get Medicare testing criteria to change. 🐓🐓🐓

      Similar experience. At 83 I was informed I was "borderline pre-diabetic". A1c = 5.8; no test for insulin. No significant health problem previously. I questioned the meaning of the test results, given my age. Doc agreed there is not much data on those of my age. I started doing a lot of research & testing my BG frequently. For me exercise, increasing protein and good fats and reducing carbs seemed to help, as well as controlling portions and timing of meals and sleep. Have discovered most doctors have little interest in elderly - except to sell pharma and surgeries. We are not potential customers for much longer!

      Thank You @PushpaBalakrishna-f1w. The fastest way would be a combination of intermittent fasting, low carb diet (keto) and exercise. The exercise should be a combinations of a small amount of very short duration HIIT and longer duration low intensity, such as walking. That way you can use up the glucose in the body without triggering a lot of cortisol which will stimulate gluconeogenesis. Still remember that everyone responds differently so try a lot of different things additionally - meditation, ACV etc. I've made dozens if not hundreds of videos on this. 😄

      @AmirAmiri-r1z I'm not a doctor but I'm studying nutrition and in my opinion you are doing a lot of things at the same time. This can very probably increase your cortisol levels, making your sugar levels go up which will lead to glucose spikes that will make you tired and hungry. I would start by just reducing carbohydrates and adding more protein in breakfast ( which has shown to increase satiety throughout the rest of the day). Do strength training (or physical activity that you enjoy doing, more muscle=better glucose control) sleep well, and if you are relaxed enough then try fasting little by little. But always ask a good nutritionist who can guide you!! Good luck!!

      hello Thank you very much for your good advice I almost left that stage, but I still feel a little hungry, but I don't feel tired at all. I lost 3 kilos in these 5 days and I really feel better. Thank you for your reply.@@GemmaVenture

    While I’m in ketosis usually I’m around upper 60’s to 70’s. If I get to 80’s usually that means I’ve been kicked out of ketosis.
