The vids of the building of the main tracks (on an island and blue) are tremendous - for me these tracks have become the iconic "sound and tone" of David Gilmour -- no one else (excluding copyists) has the same tone. Listen to live a Gd and Pomp it is an extraordinary sound and feeling. I was not aware that Polly and Jules Holland played piano on the album.
Through and through, an amazing piece of work. What Gilmour and friends created here will never quite be equaled and will surely stand the test of time in the annals of music making. Absolutely brilliant!
it is! But I didn't like the Lyrics. they don't match the music their is a disconnect and they are somewhat a little indulgent I am not a wealthy person hanging out on some island. other than that i like it.

The soundtrack of 2006 for me surely. What a great album.
I would say that On an Island was his magnum opus. Definitely a masterpiece of an album from start to finish.
