I bought an Estate with 1.6 diesel engine and manual gearbox. I am really fond off the car. Handles much better then all those German ones. Looks are great and the leather interior looks great and after 50.000 km in little more then one year is still like new. Fuel consumption always around 1 liter on 20 km. I recommend this car to everyone, much and much better then the general opinion of people who never stepped out of the accepted choices.
I got the hatchback for the wife, and thought it was so good I bought the Estate for me. It drives well and feels 'solid' on the road. The 1.6 diesel engine is responsive and the dash is clearly presented. The 'info' system is adequate. Space wise, I'm 6' 2" and I can sit comfortably behind my front seat settings, so that's a bonus. Like all cars it's not absolutely perfect, my auto wipers are just irritating, why don't they stick to ranges of intermittent wipes? I can't find the seat belt point easily as I'd like, and the arm rest is pointless for me as it's too low, ditch it or have a variable height one. Also, and I think this is for most FIATs the top gear isn't a real 'cruising' gear. The Tipo has 6, and 6th gear should drop the revs right down on motorway driving, but it really doesn't get any lower than 2k revs when it really should be heading for 1.5k for better fuel efficiency, like a Dacia Duster I had on holiday. All in all I think they're good cars, and I've driven a lot of FIATs. Worth a look, and especially good value if you can pick up a low mileage one from FIAT.
Nicely demonstrated how the rear seats will fold down. You were not bothered to lift the bench part up and after that fold the backrests, this way you would have had totally flat floor/ cargo area.
Funny how people reviews car these days. Fiat tipo is just what a car should be,practical and good price. Its delivers much of everything you need and not so much what of you don't need. Satisfied with mine.
In my country this car as second hand now has the same price as it was second hand just when it was 2-3 yers old... Back then it was worth it because the equivalent second hand Golf were almoast 2 times more money, but now the golf is like just 15-20% more expensive.
the biggest 7 inch screen is now standard in the UK if you check the fiat website quite a lot of these reviews are out of date. Standard on easy plus upwards.
The Interior quality Is a disappointment as I think the size of Infortainment System should be a larger size and I wish Fiat had better soft materials rather than cheap ones
Jamie Pickles -stay at home if you want an extension to your living room. Large infotainment screens are a distraction (especially ones with ventilation controls). Soft touch surfaces don't make it "better".
Jamie the answer to that is to spend more money on a better car. In all aspects of life, there are sacrifices to make - you have to sacrifice your money to get better quality, or make your sacrifice in terms of quality to save money. You’re a fool if you ever think you’ll get top quality for the cheapest price. Fiat wouldn’t be in business otherwise and that’s why you’re getting cheap materials in this car BECAUSE THE PRICE REFLECTS THE QUALITY you imbecile.

I think this is one of the best designed cars in its class today...Also,practicality and car handling are very good on the road

Im curious as to why the UK gets only the small phone screen sized infotainment?
The bigger one is an option

This car is an insult to the heritage of Tipo back in the mid 80's.
Dismal
I'd rather buy a second hand Superb.
ah yes, this retarded "rather second hand car" argument
You deserve it
